kcdd Posted February 8, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2020 My husband drinks soda morning, noon and night and in between. If we bring Diet Coke on board can he take it to the buffet area during breakfast and lunch? I wouldn't want him to bring it to the main dining room. Thanks for the response. Rare puppycanducruise Posted February 8, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2020 No problem. He can take it anywhere he wants to (even the MDR). Enjoy your cruise.
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 8, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2020 He can even take his sodas to a bar/lounge. No Problem.

I usually bring my own soda to the dining room to drink as it's not one that's typically available onboard.
kcdd Posted February 8, 2020 Author #5 Share Posted February 8, 2020 Thanks for the responses. Didn't know if it would be tacky taking his Diet Coke can into the MDR. But hey that's great!

catl331 Posted February 10, 2020 #8 Share Posted February 10, 2020 (edited) HAL doesn't say soda or water brought on is for "in-cabin consumption only" as they do for corkage-free wine, so IMO it is not tacky to bring it anywhere on the ship. What's the difference between taking it, say, pool-side or into a dining venue? Edited February 10, 2020 by catl331
bEwAbG Posted February 10, 2020 #9 Share Posted February 10, 2020 People walk into dinner with wine & cocktails all the time. No different with a soda. Not enough hours in the day for them to police where a single drink is coming from.

bEwAbG Posted February 11, 2020 #11 Share Posted February 11, 2020 "This is tacky" is definitely a minority opinion. HAL also lets you replenish your stash at ports of call.
Seasick Sailor Posted February 11, 2020 #12 Share Posted February 11, 2020 My post from last night was apparently flagged and deleted. The OP asked if they could take into Lido at breakfast and lunch, not MDR. Which IMO... we see people bring a can in all the time. It is not like they are carrying in a 6 pack. Not to put too fine a point on matters but in OP's Post #5, OP said, "Didn't know if it would be tacky taking his Diet Coke can into the MDR." (Emphasis added.) And I even quoted OP's question in my Post #10 above when I responded to it. Edited February 11, 2020 by avian777
