Cancellation procedure

What exactly is the protocol for canceling an upcoming cruise? I booked through an online TA,  Air Canada Vacations. Do I contact them first, or do I go through Celebrity? Is it the same for FCC and for, hopefully, full payment refund? Thanks.

I just called my TA and cancelled. Due to the number of people canceling they have been over whelmed. It may take a couple of days for them to respond but when you finally get it they will handle the cancellation. They said it could take 6 weeks to get credit. So have patience. You should get FCC credit but there will be a transaction fee from your TA. It will depend on your contract with the TA.

Posting here in hopes it helps???? Did not want to start another thread!

We recently cancelled our May 2020 cruise on  SUMMIT...PROGRESS SO FAR WITH REFUNDS AND CREDITS:

We cancelled  one pre paid Specialty Dining and our pre paid Excursions  on 3/6 on the Cruise Planner,  No phone call was needed.  These were orig billed  on our card for a  2  person total  but dining was credited back pp,  and total excursions were credited back pp  to the card.  It was confusing at first but It did all add up to what we paid.

We cancelled the cruise itself on 3/7 with a Celeb res specialist. We were in the 50 % penalty range, and  got in under "Cruise With Confidence",  so we were promised a 50% Refund ( plus taxes and fees), and 50% Future Cruise Credit  Nothing has come back yet on our card.  We expect a  credit to our card  pp for 50% of the cruise fare plus taxes and fees pp and eventually a Future Cruise Credit pp for 50% of the cruise fare. We will post when that comes through.

We lost the  OBC perk, which was expected, and probably are  out the Cruise Care cost Being from  NY,  we had to buy from a sep entity than X..I will call them later to confirm...normally that would have come back as well but no option here.  We also lost a very small amt for an  extra evac and med policy that we usually buy from another company.

Hope this assists those still deciding .

Hope those still going will have a wonderful time.  We just did not want the extra stress or need to run around now to get a med note.

Best wishes!

You call your TA. Celebrity cannot cancel. Your refunds will depend on when cruising and if you have a non refundable deposit. If happening soon likely a FCC and not a refund.

We made a bit more progress on the hurdles to cancel out and get credit etc for our May Cruise on Summit.  We cancelled before X pulled the plug. Maybe we jumped too soon...but that is already behind us

We are from NY so our Celeb cruise care cruise ins $398.00  had to be placed through a third party co.  We called them today and they indicated we will receive  a refund( dh still skeptical)  for the prepaid premium.  Had to send an e mail requesting refund and  rep said 7 to 10 days and 1 credit card cycle.   Hope it pans out going back onto our card!

How long did it take for your excursions to be credited back to your credit card?

It may vary by how fast the Credit Card company posts the refund.  We cancelled excursions, and beverage package upgrade on 3/3 and our refund posted to our credit card on 3/11.

Cancelled them online on 3/6 and credit appeared on card today 3/13.

That was for Summit. May cruise cancellation.

We also cancelled excursions, dining and spa for APEX a day or so later...they are all credited back to our card today 3/14.

Nothng yet on the Summit cruise cancellation itself, and we did not cancel APEX yet.  Need to figure out if we can do that online..Calling in now would be difficult and we have time before APEX final pay date..

Good luck everyone..pls post how it is working out for you.

When I saw the green "H"  I was confused, but mine is turquoise

Update,..  took a chance and called X to cancel our future APEX cruise,..not involved in any  penalty issues.

they have different cues for callers for diff issues.,.so no idea how long the wait is for  the current "cancelled by X cruises" but I got through quite easily for my purpose.

I waited on hold for only 3 minutes  just now 4:40 pm Saturday.

Rep offered to give us another date but we are really  done cruising  til Jan 2021.  So we will receive  our deposit ($500) back on our credit card.  We already cancelled pre paid spa, dining and excursions on line and they have been credited back.

hope everyone does ok getting through

We're holding off cancelling yet since we missed the 75% cutoff and now we're in the 50% until April 2nd for our May 2nd repo cruise.  Hope springs eternal. If virus continues to increase as it unfortunately probably will, we'll cancel at end of month and use our FCC for another cruise next year!

Received our Future Cruise Certificate via e mail today for our Summit Cancellation.

Amount was as expected. 50% of cruise fare we paid. Each person has sep line.

Will post the stated conditions tom.  Really no surprises from what we expected. It will be useless if not used by the  named person  by the deadline!

We're in the 50% zone to cancel our May 2nd Summit cruise. From what you said above, Celebrity is giving you a 50% refund and 50% FCC.   I see above that you got 50% in FCC.   Did you get your 50% refund back yet?  I may be layed off from work soon so thinking of cancelling now so we'd have the extra monies.

Cancelled Norway cruise on March 3 with our TA. Received credit from Celebrity for 50% of cruise fare, port fees etc on March 10th. Received an email reply from Celebrity today saying our FCC should be issued between April 7th and 21st. 4 to 6 weeks from our cancelling.

Just a heads up. Things are moving . . . slowly.  This was under Cruise with Confidence version #1.

As you booked through ACV, you will need to cancel through them. You might first want to take a look at this information on their website:
