Yes, I would agree with your friends in Cocoa!  We usually have to walk to the other end of our street to see the rockets but this time we were able to see it from our back window.  We were also able to see the boosters coming back.  Very cool!

We usually can tell when there's a launch. Our house rattles a bit. LOL. Yesterday we heard the sonic boom though. I don't recall hearing that before...and kitty reacted to that when she didn't react at all to the rumble of the launch (she did the first time though). Funny how your pets let you know when a sound is strange and unusual.

Well, our (under a year old) ac unit seems to have taken a lightning strike on Saturday. Our power was out about 3 hours (a transformer in neighbor’s Yard blew). Looks like it fried our Smart thermostat & a whole bunch of electronics. Good thing this sucker is under warranty, they might actually have to replace the furnace, ac & thermostat. Guess I’m not going anywhere today... Also good that it’s 48 degrees here (only going up to around 60) today. Melody

Oh man.  That sucks big time.  Good thing that you are still under warranty.  Did your electronics fry through surge protectors?  That's big.  I have my TVs and the associated stuff on surge protectors.  I don't have my printer on one, but I do unplug it when I go on vacation.  I hope you don't have to do a total replace on th HVAC system.  The only good thing is that it's not really, really hot and not the dead of winter right now.

Cruisemom:  That H&B Rosè sounds up your alley.    I might try the bigger State Store to see if they have the new 19 Crimes wine they did with Snoop Dog.  If nothing else, for the bottle!!!  He really is a nice guy (one of my hotel guests a few years ago).  Stoned, yes, but nice and mellow 😉

Space Coast ladies:  Have you ever watched the SpaceX boosters land back on Earth?  That is the best part of the launches for me.  The fact that they fly back down and land exactly (90% of the time) where they are supposed to go, either on the ground or out in the ocean on those barges.  I'm a little weird that way I guess.  Oh, the ULA should be a loud one - it's a 3 booster "heavy" launch.

Off to the ophthalmologist later this afternoon.  The eye is doing OK, but I have a scab or something that bothers me a bit.  It's in the same place all the time, so it's not a floater.  I still have floaties, but I think I can deal with them.  If they get annoying, I can always go back and see if they can laser them.

OOTD:  Not sure.  Some Tshirt and shorts or running skirt most likely.

So the motherboard was fried, $5500 part & $150 labor, we had to pay the labor. If the new board fries then we’ll have to replace both units ($15K), that’ll be an insurance claim. It was a direct lightning strike thru the surge protector. Only damaged the ac/furnace. None of our other electronics (also all on separate surge protectors) seem to be affected. I was able to get the 19 crimes rum barrel & 19 crimes red blend at Costco today...I think I’ll need some tonight, been a long day

We had a bottle of the Snoop Dog wine a few weeks ago. The label was kind of cool but the wine was just ok, not something I would buy again.

Decent news at the opthalmologist this afternoon.  The eye is coming along well.  The resident saw my massive floatie this time.  It bothers me when I'm on my laptop and sometomes when I watching TV.  It is a decent candidate for nuking with the laser.  But, we're going to wait 5 months to see if I get used it or if it goes away or if it's still annoying.   I do have what feels like a constant "eyelash" in the eye, but nothing's there.  The diagnosis was that I'm just really sensitive and the scar is what is bothering.  It should go away.  At least the scar looks good.  Driving home again was fun with that eye dilated!  I think I'm getting used to it!

It cooled off today, finally, mid 70s down in Salt Lake.  I wasn't cranky for a change.

Good morning friends, Kat, glad your eye is healing well.

Sharon, sorry the air quality is so bad.....those fires will do that for sure.

It seems we have been in the middle of a front.....it rained on and off ALL DAY yesterday. I normally walk in the

mornings. I thought I would be able to walk yesterday. I went out and not even 1/2 through I had to come back home

since the rain started coming down on me.👎.  Not fun.

Thursday I have my follow up with the Kidney Specialist and hoping all the results from that Utrasound are good!

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

Kat, good news on eye. Lois, hope you get good news. Sharon hope air quality improves.

today is a perfect, 50 degree light breeze day for 1 September. Seems like the switch from summer has been switched from simmer to comfy (hope it lasts). Furnace/ac seems to be cooperating!

We don’t get “rattles” but we always get the sonic boom, the most recent one was the loudest we’ve ever had.  It sounded like the 4th of July again, your kitty would have definitely reacted!😂

How did it compare to the other 19 Crimes Reds?

I am definitely a fan of 19 Crimes Reds,  not sure why I didn’t like the Snoop Dog one as much as I do the other ones although it kind of reminded me of a Charles Shaw cab ( remember 2 buck Chuck?).

Morning all!

Thanks for the good thoughts on my eye.  Now, I have to concentrate on getting my glucose back to my "new normal."  It's running out of control the past couple of months.  I eat the same stuff and the numbers are way high.  And, this is with getting another med added.  Snooping around, I'm thinking it could be the prednisone I was using for 2 months for my eye.  It's really frustrating - same meals that used to yield 120 in the morning are now 200 for glucose.  Sigh.  I just have to keep on keeping on with it.  I had to chuckle about my sodium and chloride levels.  They are both 1 number into the "normal" range. My NP wanted to see them a little higher.  Hey, I got it into normal range.  I've never been a salter, I buy as much salt free as possible and the only thing I salt is my pasta water.  She said "well, I want you to eat more salt."  Ugh.  Outside of bacon, I guess I have to start looking at labels to find salt content.   Enough grousing...

Sherri - 2 buck Chuck!!!  I do remember that stuff!  When you're a college kid or newly out of college, it was the go-to wine!!  Now, I have to try Snoop Dog to bring back those memories since my TJ's can't sell wine.

Wendy - good to know the HVAC worked!  I forgot to close my windows last night - when I work up this morning, the thermostat said 54 degrees!!!  Had to cozy up in my fleece throw on the sofa while I drank my coffee.  So far, it's a comfy temp outside, too.  No hotter than 68 today, so says the forecast.  But, then it's supposed to go back up to the 80s for the next 6 days.

Lois - good thoughts for your ultrasound!

OK.  This is weird.  I keep thinking today is Sunday!!!!!   At least I remembered last night to put out my garbage can.  I dont know if it is last Sunday or next Sunday?????

I never know what day it is anymore . This is like living in the twilight zone. I am itching to plan a trip but to where and when . We need a magic eight ball to predict when it is safe to travel again.

I have been on prednisone for lung issues . It messes up everything .

Kat, your A!C was definitely higher because of the prednisone. That nasty stuff throws everything else out of whack. It can raise glucose at least 50 points!

Thanks.  I've had so much whacky stuff going on the past 6 months.  Excuse my brain fog, but I don't know if I told you all that I swear I had COVID back in the begining of February, before ther was testing.  I thought it was the worst case of bronchitis I ever had - wouldn't go away,  a violent cough would yield a small loose stool, diarrhea, low grade fever, total exhaustion.  One of my friends had the same thing at the same time - got the flu test and it was negative.  I keep wondering why certain things show up and stuff.  Now, hearing about "long haulers", I find more things that would make sense if I had COVID.   My NP this time said she could put in for an antibody test, but at 5-6 months, it would most likely be negative, which it was.  The brain fog really bothers me - I can walk out into the kitchen and totally forget why I went out.  I've double-paid bills because I couldn't remember paying the day before.  I always used to be a "Weeble", but more so now.  I'm getting tinnitus more than I ever did.  It's pissing me off big time.   So, if I don't make sense or ramble, just blame it on that.

Thanks.  I'm just a basket case.

Remember - I went driving Sunday to look for a specific camping spot and an alternate.  Well, someone today put some video up on FB which showed it SNOWING up there!!!!   I can't win.   Or, it's Karma for all the cool camping stuff I bought over the Winter and Spring.

Going back to Rose wine. I’ve never tried it. I’m violently allergic (stop breathing) to strawberries. Everytime I pick up a bottle of Rose to try it, it says “essence” of strawberry  or strawberry flavor. I’m pretty sure I’m just going to stick with reds & whites...I don’t want to drink a glass of wine & have to use an epi pen!

we had snow on top of Pikes Peak & across the mountains the last couple of days...good thing, it’ll help put out the fires!!!

i enjoyed the 19 Crimes (aged in rum barrel), I’ll buy it again.

Kat, brain fog can come from prednisone too, takes months to work itself out of your system.  Melody

Hello Everyone,

Lois, thanks and good wishes with your scan.

Kat, days of the week, well you aren’t alone with that one. I read something that said the days of the week have now been renamed. Something like-yesterday, today, tomorrow, this day, that day, the other day and one other that I don’t remember. Much easier this way! Oh and I’m wondering if the brain fog is all part of dealing with all the Covid stuff?

Melody, hope the a/c is holding up with no further problems. 50 degrees, I’d love some of that here!

Sally, Twilight Zone-good analogy! Yes, a trip to somewhere preferably to see my kids!

2 buck Chuck. It’s still that price here. They lowered the price awhile back. I didn’t realize that it didn’t apply everywhere until I was in a TJ’s in Minneapolis where I saw that it was $3.00! Maybe it’s because CA is closer to the vineyards and wineries so there is a lower shipping cost? Who knows-they didn’t when I asked.

Gosh, snow already? Is that campground pretty high up? Maybe you will get some nicer weather and you can still do a camping trip.

Sherri, I know of 2 furry ones in FL who were a bit upset by the sonic boom. Poor things!

Today was a day for makeup and a little nicer top. I am going to post this and then tell you why in another post.

Today I did FaceTime with my doctor, thus the reason for make up etc. This is what I want to share with everyone. We talked at length about the virus. Here is the most important take away, I think. She has a patient in her 70’s who got the virus and was hospitalized on a ventilator. At some point the doctors began talking In earnest to her family about taking her off the vent. Fortunately her family called her (my) doctor who advised them to wait to make that decision because most people who go on a ventilator are on it for at least 6 weeks. It had not yet been that long for this woman. The family decided to wait and the woman recovered! I can see how a distraught family might not think to get a second opinion and I have no idea if this hospital’s recommendation is common practice but I will keep this in mind going forward. I also hope that none of us is ever In this situation.

Hi Sharon, thanks for sharing the story with us and glad her patient recovered.  There are still many people who think

it is all a hoax (not making a political statement) but a factual one.

I remember in the spring (that seems like years ago now).....but I remember them saying many folks who went

on ventilators never came off....and passed away so I am happy the woman recovered.🙂

Many of the colleges/universities now have hundreds and hundreds of cases too..........seems like the fall/winter is

not only going to bring the normal flu but this will be part of it too...........siggghhh.

Get those flu shots!!!!!   I see some of the pharmacies with signs out front already.

Snow at the campsite - yep, it's high - 10,400 ft.  But, it's such s neat place.  And, it empties out weekdays after Labor Day.  The alternate is lower - around 8200 ft.

About that rosè - none that I drink have ever had any strawberry in it.  Now, sometimes the aroma gives off the hint of strawberries.  But, I guess if I were you, I'd stick to reds & white.  Do berry bomb reds bother you?  Sometimes, I get a hint of strawberry in some Pinot Noirs.

Sharon - those stories of people who go on the vents always get to me.  Slowly, little things are found out that help a little,  like the face-down position, some therapeutics.  I had a kid in my Spanish class my senior year in HS who was in a horrific motorcycle accident (he did have a helmet).  On a vent and in a coma.  The family was coached about taking him off of keeping him on.  They kept him on.  Months later, he came out of the coma.  With rehab, he was about 75% back to normal and came back for the last few weeks of school.  Always sticks with me - we never know.

I'm not getting unemployment anymore.  The state has now put in the requirement that you have to submit at least 4 job searches a week - names, phone#, outcome...  The fact that my job doesn't come available again until mid-November doesn't matter; I still have to hunt and, if offered, take a job for 2 months.  You cannot turn down an offered job.  So, I'm just going to put in for my Social Security.  I was kind of hoping I wouldn't need to do it until next Apri because that would give me another year of accrual.  Either SS or take out some 401K money to make it through until my condo project reopens.   Decisions, decisions.

Rambling...  I think I'm going to have the last of my 19 Crimes!!!

Flu shots-yes! I forgot that my doc also said to get one now! We went last week so we checked that off the list.

Kat, I’m sorry that getting unemployment ins is so difficult. CA has similar rules but I’m not sure how strictly they are enforced. Tough decision for you! Good luck.

Lois, we have lots of spread here too. The Health Dept is very concerned about Labor Day gatherings. No matter how many warnings are given there are just too many people who don’t take it seriously along with those who think it’s a hoax.

Oh woe is us!
