Took FCC (Future Cruse Credit) or re-booked a cruise?

For those of you, like the 8 of us where our cruise was cancelled out a couple days ago, and you were sent the email to "choose" between the FCC, or re-booking with the OBC, which one did you choose?  I am mainly asking if you choose the FCC, and to re-book some other time?  If you did (I am thinking of doing this tomorrow for the 8 of us), did you receive any acknowledgement that they had received your request, and would start working on it?

Our TA filled out and submitted our form for FCC.  He spent almost 2 hours on the phone to Carnival on our behalf.  Long story short, we were able to book another cruise with no deposit.  Call Carnival, but be prepared to spend a while on the phone.

Fill out the online form - no need to call.

it states that on the form / email.

we rescheduled the day before Carnival cancelled all cruises and did not expect to be offered the extra OBC.

However, we did receive the email and followed directions.

no real confirmation.

I chose the FCC with the OBC, and have never gotten a confirmation email. A bit concerned.

My PVP called me yesterday and confirmed he could see the cancellation and my FCC/OBC election for the Horizon cruise on March 21.  He said I should get an email confirmation in 45 to 60 business days.  Bizarre they are using business days with that timeline.

I  booked a 4 day for 3/23/20 5 hours before they shut everything down. I had a sailing booked for July with just a deposit. I took the FCC and applied it to that sailing and got the $300 OBC. My PVC did it all after I emailed him. Got confirmation in 2 hours after I emailed him.

If you are rebooking and want to use the  FCC, you need to call.  If not, you'll have to wait the 60 to 90 days.  This info is from a travel agent.

Going to ask this hear. I have never gotten a FCC but seeing how our cruise is May 3rd it is a possibility that it will happen. So that being said we have some OBC from price reductions. I am assuming that that gets added into the FCC total but wanted to make sure since it is money we paid. Anyone have experience with this?

I hope someone can help me with this question. I did fill out the form for my April 5 cruise that was cancelled and chose FCC with the OBC. I was under the impression that this was ONLY for the cancelled cruises. Now, I’m hearing from some people that I could have filled out form for my April 11 cruise (second leg of my B2B) that is not cancelled by Carnival yet. Any advice?

I canceled/rebooked a day or 2 before they announced no more sailings. I didn't  expect to get any OBC. When everything finally got processed, I got the $600 OBC. I only owe $5xx on my 8 day Horizon cruise after all the credits, etc. The email took about a week or so.

I had 2 cruises, the April 27th inspiration which was booked through an online TA and the panorama May 2nd which we booked online. Yesterday, Carnival had awesome deals online for cruises but I still didn't see anything online showing my FCC although we canceled both cruises last week. I did a 48 hold on new booking to get a number then called carnival. CSR told me that I would not be able to book a new cruise with the FCC. THEY have to do it. It was a pretty fast process. I don't know if that had to do with us doing the 48 hour hold or not. We were able to book the cruise using our FCC from panorama cruise plus part of money still owed to us. Remaining will go back on our credit card in 10 dsys. The inspiration cruise with $300 FCC we can actually use on this cruise to upgrade to a new cabin. I didn't get that yet so Ill wait until I get an offer to upgrade later and then will use.  Hope this helps.

Did you get the full 100% cost of your cancelled cruise doing so before Carnival cancelled?

I put a hold on my new cruise and had the info when I called. I canceled my excursions a few days prior and that money was sent back to credit card. Still waiting on the money for my drink package to get refunded. I still don't know exactly how everything was credited to the new cruise. Basically, I was waiting on them and everything worked out. After my $250 deposit for the new cruise, it showed my balance was $1850 or so. If you get ahold of rep, they will probably tell you everything is still processing. 2 or 3 days after I received email with updated total and my $650 OBC.

I messaged my PVP the day after the cancellation announcements (our cruise was April 4th on the Breeze).   He took care of everything...rebooked us on the August 15th Breeze,)  he put in for the transfer of all the funds to the new cruise and got the confirmation of all done yesterday.   OBC is showing for $600 also.

For all those who have played down using a PVP over the years...i never had to wait even 1 second on the phone...simply messaged my PVP via facebook and he took care of everything immediately.    I have been using him for 10 years now and has always been incredible.     Most of the stories i have been reading about with people spending hours on the phone with carnival, getting wrong info, getting confilicting info.....my suggestion...get a good PVP.  You wont regret it.

I got mine by just booking my first cruise back in 2009.   Not sure how, but i had called carnival back then and just lucked into this guy.     There are lots of recommendations of great ones on the book of faces if you ask some cruise page groups for carnival.   We can mention names on here, but if you email me at bingomamma19 at the yahoo of emails..i can inform you 🙂

Why would you take virtual FFC when you could have gotten a FULL refund? FFC makes sence if you got some backup plan and dont really rush to go anywhere else but on cruise. In the current situation (in my opinion) it would be better to stay with cash. But if you decide to stay with those virtual credits to book/purchase your next cruise then you should be feeling alright.

I cancelled my May 30th European cruise on March 10th, right before the bottom dropped out.  I was given 100% cost in FCC.  However, I also had already decided which cruise I wanted to re-book, since this is a family European cruise and the options are limited on Carnival. At the time I did this, the FCC was only good until March 31 2021, and the European cruises stop in October 2020.  Limited choices.

I have had a PVP assigned for years but never used him before.  I always just book myself online- usually based upon whatever offer I get through the casino.  However, on March 10th the phone lines were not working and I found my PVP's email on one of the email offers in my junk mail.  I emailed him and told him what I wanted.  He called me a few times to clarify and ask for my ok on certain things.  Altogether I spent about 5 minutes on the phone and sent two emails.

He managed to use my FCC as a deposit for a European cruise on September 29th, applied everything else and got me exactly what I wanted.  Of course, now I am crossing my fingers the September cruise goes forward safely.  We had two cabins booked for 5 adult family members so it was a pain for him, I am sure.

Although I have never bothered to use my PVP before, he sure came through in a pinch this time.   If anyone thinks they do not have a PVP assigned, look closely at your email offers and see if there is not someone listed there for you to contact by email.

Thank you ALL for your info in regard to my question. I have not contacted my PVP since she told me I had to put down a $250.00 deposit on each room, and NOT get it refunded, although I had ENOUGH credit to pay for the rooms that we were to re-book. In the meantime, I contacted my insurance that covered my flight/cruise. I was told that if I took the FCC, the one that does not have the OBC with it, I would get my full insurance coverage payment back, which is more than the OBC. I have not been feeling well, but when I get feeling better, I am going to call the insurance company again, and make sure that is still what I had heard.

Many people (ourselves included) use gift cards to pay for cruises to save 10%.  In that case, you get back gc if you get a refund, so we decided it was better to take 100% FCC and an extra $600 obc than to just get gc back for 100%.
