Adawn47 Posted May 5, 2020 #1076 Share Posted May 5, 2020 I've had a bit of an unusual day today. The weather was cold again and so I decided that we😉 would clean out the pantry and freezer. Did the pantry and after lunch started on the freezer. It was like a lucky dip in there. I found a container with 5lbs of raspberries I'd frozen last year and 1lb of redcurrants. I now have 10 jars of raspberry and redcurrant jam. Like I said, strange day. 😆 Avril

Unfortunately the market isn't anything like that now. It used to be a real market. Now it's just inside stalls. No atmosphere any more. Avril Hi Avril Yes we are both well thank you, still been having a look around the site. Hope you and Frank are ok. Are you still going in November on your cruise, we are thinking of changing it for something else next year, not sure what to do. Yes we have been to the Barnsley market since it's been upgraded, but has you say No Atmosphere. But a lot better then Doncaster Market. Both take care, keep safe Bob and Elaine

We'd rather forfeit the deposit than have to wait months for a refund and all the hassle and stress that goes with it. As of now the cancelled cruises go up to July 31st. If they're going to cancel past then we'll know before that date. We're going to let them cancel and credit us the deposit. It's a tricky situation but as of now P&O only have £135 of ours and we will not give them any more. We already have a cruise booked for next October. Rare Eglesbrech Posted May 7, 2020 #1084 Share Posted May 7, 2020 Well the sun is shining here again today, the weather for the last week has been lovely and the garden is in full bloom. Unfortunately the forecast for the weekend is that the temperature will drop to minus 1 so the plants might suffer frost bite! So that 23 degrees yesterday down to minus 1 tomorrow - you couldn’t make it up. Im listening to the news once a day which is quite sufficient as it just becomes depressing. Otherwise I am trying to do things that are more cheerful, my garden has never looked better, it looks manicured unlike my hair which is becoming more of a mess by the day. When I am out on my once a day walk I have started “hair spotting”. We are in a very quiet area so we don’t see that many people around but those we do are also all having bad hair days so at least I don’t feel alone. It’s the dyed hair with the skunk line up the middle that looks the worst, at least I don’t have that. How is everyone’s hair doing, are some of you more talented than I am and still have a bit of style.

How is everyone’s hair doing, are some of you more talented than I am and still have a bit of style. my hair was really long. I only cut it once a year and always before my holiday. Soon as this lockdown started and I realised I couldn’t get it cut I let my hubby do it. He’s done a good job of it. It was so long is was annoying me greatly. it’s very sunny here. I am prepping school work. I’m getting to the end of my tether though as we are going drama today with freeze frame for the enormous turnip. I am so close to quitting the home schooling cos I don’t think she is learning anything. Also not quite sure why a 5 year old needs to know the exact format for a formal letter writing. Which we did last week and she remembers none of. I swing between being depressed over holidays as planning those I suppose is my hobby. And worrying about hubby’s job since 8000 are being made redundant. I wouldn’t have a clue what we could do if that happened as everywhere will be downsizing, even the extra supermarket help will be dying down and there are not going to be enough jobs for all there people. It scares me. anyway back to school work

I can't remember if it went in the rubbish bin or did I put it into the recycle bin ? (Someone may have a use for it ) When I was younger I would keep my hair long but these days I prefer to have a no1 haircut, it's a lot less bother. I realise this trend would not do for the ladies as it does for some of us men but I am pleased to hear your hair is coping with the lockdown. A few years ago Mrs Kalos had a bad reaction to a hair dye ,so had to stop using them and decided to let nature take it's course. Now her hair is what I would describe as a metalic grey which really suits her. A few times she has had women approach her to ask .." what is the name of the hair colour you use ?" Only to be surprised by the answer None . So ladies remember you could have a great hair colour lurking under your current one . Temperature's down here today will average 21 c ,so best make the most before tomorrow turns cool . Also if no cloud tonight it's the big Flower moon .
Rare Eddie99 Posted May 7, 2020 #1088 Share Posted May 7, 2020 Vamp (hope that’s an ok nickname but I wanted to ‘speak’ in a sort-of, messageboard, personal way) ”This, like all things, will pass” That’s a pretty good motto, though I admit at times it can sound pretty trite. Things will get better, sometime. You’ll feel better. Honestly Things most certainly will not go back exactly as they were - there probably will be tough financial times ahead But - you are blessed. You have your OH and your two lovely girls. You have the best part of your life ahead and the girls have all their lives. Enjoy what’s there to enjoy - each other, the sunshine, the current free-time, no matter how much you don’t want it, memories of holidays you have taken, maybe very loose thoughts of where you might travel sometime in the future. Take pleasure in the small things. It will get better, sometime Try not to stress. I’m one who likes to plan to the nth degree too - but I can’t just now and, having accepted that, I’m much more relaxed. It helps a bit that everyone is in the same boat - it’s not that you have done anything to bring this upon yourself Take care. Stay safe As for me ... we have a pizza order in with a local Italian (proper restaurant tomorrow - well it was, delivery/takeaway only now - not a doughy chain). First time I’m not cooking (and buying and menu planning and stressing about grocery deliveries) for 53 days! 🍕 I’m so looking forward. Little pleasures. (If it matters perhaps I should say I’m a lady Eddie (think AbFab, darling! 😉), so catering is my domestic duty, leaving washing up and bin duties to the other half of the partnership) 3

indiana123 Posted May 7, 2020 #1090 Share Posted May 7, 2020 Great post Eddie 99... it makes so much sense. I'm ok with being indoors, miss art class and senior gym and socialising on a Saturday night. but doing lots of bits and pieces and flitting about. I spent over three months indoors last year after a terrible accident abroad (on the way to a cruise!!!) and a further 6 months of heavy physio so just pleased to be home and walking. I find flitting around doing a bit here and a bit there works for me but of course that's probably not possible with kids around Keep happy, keep safe. Sometimes we get blinkers on in the panic and I keep trying to see the bigger picture but sometimes lose it too. that’s one of the reasons I love a cruise. With every holiday either Disney or a caravan in the U.K. I will be cooking at least one meal a day if not more and doing all the cleaning/washing etc. the only holiday I don’t is a cruise. Love been waited on. the kids asked if I would put chocolates on their pillows the other night. They have no chance but I thought it was funny they asked. amfc_lenny Posted May 7, 2020 #1098 Share Posted May 7, 2020 I kind of wish it was raining again as stuck inside in a flat it makes it slightly more bearable! ive had colleagues who are not on furlough whinging that it’s not fair that they still have to work. For those who feel that way trust me after a few weeks I long to be back doing something productive. Had a nice walk outside earlier through a few of the nearby fields, which always help break the day up. I really do feel for you being stuck in a flat, must be even harder to deal with all of this. There is a lot of bitter resentment about the furlough situation where half the staff are working and the other half not. The people who are working are tending to have to work harder than ever and the people on furlough are the ones with the newly painted fences and DIY projects completed. While it’s not individual choice you can see why those still working would be a bit miffed (particularly where employers top salary up to 100%). This is already being studied as it may cause issues when organisations are fully staffed again: a sort of us and them. The next issue will be annual leave. Some employers are threatening to reduce leave by the amount of time on furlough (which they can only do down to EWTD levels but it won’t stop them trying). Some are making employees take leave now, which they can do if sufficient notice is provided. There is a whole management mess to come. Enjoy your walks and take up a new hobby. This too shall pass.
