So why post pictures of food?

Because a year ago we were given a provisional diagnosis of aggressive cancer... Celebrating Christmas 2022 seemed highly unlikely but this thread kept us amused, distracted and the positivity and generosity of many members made us feel very welcome. The diagnoses was subsequently changed... certainly no cancer.

We hoped. We hoped that somewhere over a rainbow there was a place that skies would be blue... and there was.

But this is the meal that we would have liked to have shared with so many people. So cheers to so many warm-hearted, generous folk on here.

Good health and happiness!

This is fantastic news for you both, love the food pics and glad you can celebrate again, it just goes to show how small we are on this earth and we should all celebrate everyday with our loved ones .

Morning all.  It’s dull and windy today, which is a shame after an absolutely glorious day yesterday.  We’re promised sun again tomorrow, so I guess we just enjoy whatever we can whenever it comes.  It is the last week of September, after all

Wild boar are certainly edible.  I’m not sure if I’ve ever eaten it “straight” but have definitely had wild boar sausages

Are they good to  eat?

You don't see many running around the beach in Sunderland .

They would soon be between a bread bun ,faster than you could say Greggs 😉

Hope everyone's OK , we just did the  tests and we are both clear thank goodness .

Wow, bear!  Were you living there, or (surely not) on holiday.  I remember being on holiday in the mid-sixties in Italy and then going over the border (in our car, with two small children), to I think it was

Crkvenica, a seaside town where we had booked 3 nights d b and b.  The light bulbs were very dim, the furniture the cheapest possible, and the food awful - pudding was an unripe pear each.  We felt so sorry for them, sweet people but so poor and no proper food.  Hated saying we were leaving next morning, but it was our only holiday of the year.

Never tried hippo but we had one under our bed in a safari lodge on the Zambezi..Me running around the patio in my West Ham boxers must have frightened it off.

I'm pleased to hear you are both clear Kalos.

I slept most of yesterday after having my booster on Friday.

We took Pauline's car to church this morning in case she needed to drive as I was still a little drowsy this morning.

I have the Flu jab tomorrow.

I hope everyone is well.

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are all ok.  It is pretty miserable here today and is raining at the moment.

I have forced myself to go the gym this morning and just celebrated with a toffee crisp, probably not ideal but it tasted great!!

Not doing much else today, my mum is coming this afternoon and staying for tea.

Have a good day everyone

Being laid low a few days , I had the chance to see a bit of daytime TV ,
Oh dear !!
Is it just me ?Just when you're getting into a program and ten minutes later
your stuck with some weird adverts that seem to take an age .
I think the only clever advert is the one called car Trade car or summat ?
They came up with the brilliant idea of having no sound whatsoever ,
thus making you look as you  think  the telly's on the blink .
Then we come to the ones which really grinds my gears !   All those people
who have sold their cars to we buy any car !
And don't get me started on those people waggling their eyebrows cos
they want a McDonald's . Can you imagine sat in the traffic at Southampton
and everyone around starts waggling their brows at you ....Really ?🤔
My third one has to be that woman who puts the tiniest amount of cream
on her face as it stops her from ageing .. My I suggest ,they get a 9 year old
girl , put her in Granny's clothes , screaming  "Help me I've used to much "🙃
Have any of you got a love /hate advert ?

La Spezia, Italy today. Typical Italy, nothing open on a Sunday. Lovely walk along the Prom and back. Weather beautiful, hot and sunny. First week over and very good. Food has improved IMO since Ions in Jan. Don't do food photos, nothing exceptional but good enough. Weather forecast for rest of the cruise is very good, just what we came for.

Sad as it is to admit it, the Haribo one with Victor McGuire creases me up every time. What an easily pleased person am I?

Was a ski holiday. No food in shops and people were very poor. Quite an eye opener (especially after Austria).  We all left most of our clothes, etc, for the staff when we left!
