Sounds good. I like golden miles, whether it’s Blackpool, Belgrave Road Leicester, Southwold or Lido. All different, all interesting.

A three day pass on the vaporetto is another good deal - at least it worked really well for us.

We bought it early afternoon one day so it ran out 72 hours later which allowed us to use it get to Piazzala Roma  the morning we were leaving where we were able to catch the airport bus (also very reasonable/direct 20 mins to outside the airport entrance).

We elected to use it one evening at dusk to travel from San Marco to P.Roma via the Grand Canal (iirc at least an hour's trip) then just stayed on and came back by which time it was dark and all the palaces along the grand canal were lit up with their chandeliers.  It was like a excursion!

We used the pass to go to the islands in the daytime (Burano, Murano and to Lido) then came back by mid afternoon by which time the cruise passengers were making their way back to port (I know - I've been one of them often enough!😀).  But when you're staying there you have the advantage of wandering round the city late afternoon/early evening when it's very much quieter.

Fabulous city.

Recommendation - Nico's for icecream along the Guidecca Canal.  Ice creams are superb but they also have a terrace on the waterfront where a Spritzer was extremely reasonable - probably gone up now but a favourite find of ours - just off the main tourist hotspots and therefore not a rip-off.

The passes for the vapretto work out cheaper than single journey tickets if you are going to use them several times. We got a day pass, 25 Euros (while the rest of the family purchased a 2 day pass for 35 Euros) and used it to visit Murano and Burano.

Morning all 3.c here ,so another nice cosy day inside today.

A week of mixed fortunes and feelings this week for me but that's life.

Had a chat catch up with some old workmates and asking how some were getting on?

Sad to here one of them was on his way to work on his motorbike when a car hit and

killed him. That left me feeling a bit down but my spirit got lifted when our eldest  of our

Granddaughters told me I was now to be a great Grandad . As one leaves the world

another enters ,as the saying goes.

Had a meeting with my cardio specialist, who decided that the best way forward for me

is medication only but said he was pleased with how I'm getting on .

So armed with that news I have managed to buy a travel insurance and have a few

that are booked but more about that at another time.

Take care !

Sorry to hear about your former workmate Kalos.

Great news that your cardio specialist thinks medication will suffice and you are able to get travel insurance so I might see you on a cruise.

Early good morning to you all , yet again not much sleep last night probably a bit of excitement again I’ve got the suitcase packed all up and later tonight we’re off to Madeira (early Monday morning) for 10 days ) other half likes to drive through the night much quieter especially when Gatwick has a traffic diversion that takes you all the way round the other side of airport to get to the other side of the roundabout 🥴

We’re hiring a car for 9 days so going to explore the island all round and going to do a early morning sunrise watch , booked a whale/ dolphin trip, and plenty of those trails on north side on edge of island high up .  Wrote down some restaurants that someone gave me on here so any more tips what to do are greatly appreciate, I will be visiting the botanical gardens and go up the chair lift thing can’t remember what’s it called to early in the day but we won’t be coming down in the basket we done that 20 years ago and we will certainly be visiting Blandys winery 😁 .

Tried to visit here a few times on the ships last one was Iona last March but you know due to high winds etc couldn’t dock , anyway not long watched YouTube video of a plane trying to land at the airport in cross winds and that looks bleeding dodgey too 🫣, anyway sorry I’ve rambled on just a bit bored this morning, so I hope you will all be well and happy this week and not too cold back here and escape the snow if it comes your way stay warm & safe .

Have a fabulous holiday! I second a trip just along the coast to Camara de Lobos. Nice places for lunch on the harbourside. Also, from there drive up to the Cabo Girao mirador and skywalk on the cliff edge. Plenty of parking and a nice little café.

What a beautiful sentiment.

It will be 32 years this August since Dad died and  and 29 years in September my Mum, but even though the pain has gone and the tears can still come, the memories and love always remain.

Certain memories fade but things like this can seem only like yesterday.

Mrs K  says " She gets what your saying . My dad has been passed longer than he was alive,

to which feels strange. In my head it feels like yesterday that as a young girl I sat and hugged him."

That must have been one dreadful Christmas mornings for her family almost 50 years ago.

@grapau27 have a cuppa looking out to sea, just you ,your thoughts and dad in your heart🙂

Thank you friends for all your kind sentiments.

My mam died 4 month's before my dad and even though I called at his house twice a day and Pauline once a day he relied so much on my mam and he gave up.

His BP was very low so he got took into hospital.

He got up to go to the toilet during the night in hospital and he fell and hit his head and we were called and he died seconds after we got to his hospital bed.

We love Venice and have stayed for a few days on 4 occasions as well as several cruise stops.
Nico’s has been our favourite spot for afternoon refreshments on the way back to the ship. Ice cream, a beer for OH and a spritzer for me - a delightful place for a rest after all the walking!

Thanks so much Graham. That's a lovely thing to say. I watched / listened today and I liked Fr.David. Watch out for me because I will post if I've got something interesting or relevant to say. Best always. Jane xxx

Pleased you enjoy visiting Nico's as much as we do.  We've even made a point of going for an ice cream in the pouring rain - although a rest with a Spritzer (and huge bowl of crisps 😉) wasn't an option on that occasion.  Hopefully we shall go to Venice again and ensure standards haven't dropped. 😁

I am so happy to hear that @kaloshas managed to secure a travel insurance. If you are cruising again sometime soon Kalos I'll bet there's a lot of us on here would love to meet you. In fact, we could book you as one of the comedic gigs! Really pleased for you. Jane xxx

Thank you Avril for your kind comments.

Pauline and I agree we will never forget them and Pauline cries every day over our loss of our parents.

I pray you and Frank are feeling better.

Morning everyone, hope you are all ok this morning. Mondays seem to come around quickly don’t they?

It looks a cloudy day here today but I have a fair bit of washing and ironing to do after my hols so that will keep me busy.

I really enjoyed my week on Azura and the weather was kind to us. We managed to eat in The Glass House, Epicurean and Sindhu, all were fabulous. The other nights we ate in the main dining room, only one bad main course, steak that was completely tasteless. We ate breakfast in the Oriental restaurant which lovely. I have read that someone who was on our flight home has already become ill with you know what.

Have a lovely day everyone

Morning hope everyone's feeling good this morning .

This morning I would like to start the week off with a little moan ,well it's Monday anyway🙂

You Tubers ,vloggers and the like, some are really good, far better than I used to do .

Let me explain . Last night we decided to give You Tube a run ,picking up bits of info

that come in handy ,which was ok except for the volume in which they edit the films .

Not all but some we watched we would find you could hardly hear a word as they spoke

away from their microphone, which results in us turning the TV volume up only for them

to decide to play some music at pop concert level , before going back into whispering

Ted Lowe mode  (do you remember him ? ) .

I can tell you, this was not doing our Tinnitus any good at all and goodness knows what

the neighbours thought with all that racket .

It does remind me of the time my mate offered to sell me a radio for a £1 due to it

being stuck on full volume .Now that was an offer I really could not turn down .😉

That's my little groan over, for today anyway .

Have fun ,be happy and take care :classic_love:

Managed to get brunch out our favourite cafe over the weekend as a reward to ourselves for stripping the walls of hall landing & stairs. We we planning to go in the week, but it was closed due to staff members going down with you know what it reopened on Saturday after being closed for just over a week.

Decorator is due to start today, he will finish the stripping at top of landing where I can’t reach safely. The stripping of the walls has kick off the tendon issues in my shoulder again, I should really remember I am 70 not 30!

The overnight rain and rain this morning has saved me having to get the hose out to water our new lawn, a forecast of some snow later this week as well.

Today I will be catching up on few programs I have recorded, plus keeping decorator supplied with tea, my OH has gone away for a week with daughter & family, nit sure how that happened. 🤔

I quite enjoy the clocks going forward as the dog doesn’t wake me until 7am, as opposed to 6am at the moment! 🐶😜

Glad you had a fab holiday Michelle.

I'm pleased you had a great weeks cruise on Azura Michelle.

Those 3 restaurants were our go to on a night on our cruise on Azura in November.

It is a nice morning here.

And now, following on from the great cucumber and tomato shortage, we get the great smart meter shortage.

British Gas were supposed to be fitting smart meters this morning. Phone call partway through the morning - can’t come because they’ve run out of meters. To be fair, they’ve only had a month to plan for this, and obviously their growth will have been stunted by the bad weather in Spain and Morocco, but really………😠
