Is the ship being positioned just by the thrusters ?  Tug is not doing anything.  Where does that line off the bow go ?

Line off the bow goes on shore, but the aft tug has a line to the stern.  EM

Tension on the bow lines may help to adjust her position?

Who gets to stand on that little forward platform? What a view that must be!!

I wonder if shipping has decreased and the canal has become more interested in the revenue.

My guess is no.  If you look at marinetraffic the sea is full of "red and green" ships ... tankers, bulk carriers, etc

The only shipping that has decreased is the cruise ship transits.  Commercial traffic is not affected.

Crew occupying guest cabins aids in social distancing.  Also, part of a hot layup is making sure all the systems, such as water and toilets in cabins continues to work.  Having crew stay in the cabins aids in that also.  And, if you don't know how long this will last, why not aid crew morale and give everyone a balcony?  that's what Captain Kate did on Celebrity Edge.  EM

With the decrease in international flights, cargo may have shifted to ocean shipping.

When I have played around with my FlightRadar24 app I am still finding  quite a few cargo flights.
