Think I can explain these seeminly confusing dates. When a credit is issues by the credit card company for a previous charge the date of the transaction generally matches the date of the original charge. Believe this is done so that the credit goes back to the original transaction date thus removing any possible interest or penalties. In the past have disputed charges and when the credit card company applies the credit it is sometimes difficult to find on the on line page because the credit is the same date as the past debit.

JSC77 Posted May 14, 2020 #153 Share Posted May 14, 2020 Our cruise date was 6/27/20 Cancelled by us 3/25/20 before final payment due, and well before Seabourn cancelled the cruise The cruise had been booked with a FCD initiated on our last cruise; about 1/2 of what we had already paid is to go back to FCD and 1/2 refunded to Am Express Received two emails 4/16/20 confirming cancellation of paid shore excursions. Two of our excursions were not listed but I later called Seabourn excursion dept. and was told all of the excursions were awaiting refund All of the excursions were credited to Am Express today 5/14 with posting date of 4/16 No word yet on the refund for the 1/2 of the cruise deposit
flyfishingwidow Posted May 14, 2020 #154 Share Posted May 14, 2020 Shore excursion refund posted to Amex this morning for cancellation requested on 4/1. Still have a ways to go on cruise cancellation, but as others have indicated it’s a welcome first step.

TIA So, SB re-jigged the itinerary to such an extent that it was no longer recognisable as the cruise we had booked, and offered a FCC if we did not want to continue. Under UK consumer law one is entitled to a refund if the product is different to the one ordered ( or booked). I asked our TA ( the famous one nobody is allowed to mention by name) to point this out to SB and ask them if they would consider offering a refund, which they agreed to do. So the cruise was cancelled, I think technically by SB. We got all our cruise money back plus $50 for an in-suite bouquet. Our travel insurance company was great, and they refunded all flights, non-refundable hotel bookings and so forth. We were lucky as they did not have a pandemic/epidemic exclusion ( I bet they do now!). The only thing we lost out on was some Air Miles used to book a mid-cruise hotel. SB cancelled the cruise completely a couple of weeks later in any case, but we would have been arriving in Singapore on the day it was confirmed, so I guess that was a lucky escape. Thank you for the explanation. We had the exactly same situation - we cancelled before SB due to many changes to the itinerary. However, as we are in US we don't have your consumer protection laws and had to accept FCC only.

labates629 Posted May 15, 2020 #161 Share Posted May 15, 2020 Update from me - this morning I received approx $3000 refund for excursions only back on my Amex this morning. Reminder - cruise date 8/14 - 31 (Alaska), cancelled by Seabourn 5/6, requested refund 5/8. Still waiting on approx $15k for cost of cruise/seabournflightease including Delta upgrades (not sure whether that will be refunded or not as everything was booked with Seabourn via TA). I only have credit from Delta for other flights I have not taken since the lockdown for either business or pleasure (Delta did not cancel them though, we either chose not to fly, or my company banned all travel). wyattsaunt Posted May 15, 2020 #162 Share Posted May 15, 2020 I’m glad to hear that 3 of us on this thread have received a refund of their cruise fare. If I’m not mistaken, all three of you live outside the US and it sounds like the regulations regarding refunds are more stringent for cruise companies in the U.K. and Australia than here in the US. I live in Seattle. I’ve been lurking on the Princess and Holland America refund threads and, like here, people are starting to get their excursions refunded but are still waiting for their cruise and FlightEase refunds going back to March. When I called Seabourn on May 6, I was told excursions and onboard reservations are handled by separate divisions from the one that processes cruise refunds. It was a multi-trip worldwide package through my Lloyds Bank Gold current account, with AXA insurance. I have to say that every interaction with them was helpful, supportive, clearly explained, and professionaly executed and we recovered c.£6,000 worth of costs, less £80 excess, within 3 weeks of submitting all the paperwork. I'm not a great fan of my bank, and have no interest in boosting them, in fact I would have switched banks a long time ago if not for the comprehensive travel insurance package, which is really good vfm. This was our first claim and only claim in 20 years. I expect they will drop it as soon as they can. Edited May 15, 2020 by Flamin_June

This was our first claim and only claim in 20 years. I expect they will drop it as soon as they can. We have Travel Insurance supplied by Barclays, as part of our Premier Banking Account. But, as we were away for 43 days, we had to take out another (Worldwide Annual Multitrip) Policy with Staysure for £ 314. However, I had arranged for it to start the day before our flight, so then we were not covered, as our trip was cancelled before the Insurance started. We did manage to get a refund on the Insurance though, and all other costs are/will be refunded (eventually). Thank you for the information, it may be useful for nest time 🙂 Kevin

zimflyer Posted May 16, 2020 #167 Share Posted May 16, 2020 I (justifiably), have been very critical of SB, and still think their communication in this age of bulk mailing is woeful and not considerate of their clients. At least it seems that some refunds are flowing finally, and I am hopeful that more than the handful so far will finally come through. We still await our air/hotel reimbursement, but are grateful that amex recharge lit a fire under the cruise refund. Not encouraged to revisit any CCL booking in near future. Meanwhile we await our fates from Crystal for an unlikely Sept cruise ! Holding thumbs for a torrent of credits ex SB to all....
