IMO this is the first of these that is going to come down. Unfortunately I don't believe that we are sailing again this year out of any US ports.

I think that if people would stop being stupid and weart masks in public things would get better a lot sooner.

The pandemic is going to be with us for a while.  People need to stay with the quarantine/ mask program,  not trying to push to open things up.  I know everyone is sick of this but it is the only way to get it to away.  Meanwhile pray for the vaccine.

COVID will be around for a while. But, the world can't stay shut. Businesses need to open,,, including cruise lines. There won't be a vaccine any time soon, so masks and social distancing will the the new norm for a long while.

You actually think people will cruise with a mask or even cruise lines will enforce it? Cruise lines don't enforce some of their policies NOW!

it will be literally impossible to Social distance on a ship. Will they have a person at each end of a corridor so pax can't pass each other.

In light of what is happening are pax willing to accept possibly being quarantined  if cases breakout?

This whole thing isn't a matter of 1+1=2. Moving parts that isn't going to end or make people happy!

Things like passing a passenger in a corridor isn't an issue! Thats like people wearing a mask driving a car by themselves! Common sense is what we need

Here we go again, Del Rio has stated that late 3Q (Sept) early 4Q (Oct) before cruising would begin and now because CLIA has stated as much.

Amazing many didn't believe what a CEO of a company was saying.  And those dates were the earliest which isn't even a quaratee!

This latest development was the last straw for us.  We had our first ever Haven cruise booked for the first part of December and were very much looking forward to it.  We made a $1500 deposit, $500 with cruise next certs and $1000 on credit card.  We were told CNC's would be put back on our account within 48 hours and the $1000 would take up to 90 days to be put back on credit card.

With most of the health experts all but guaranteeing a second COVID wave this fall, and many prospective cruisers not willing to wear masks, and no definitive answer from the cruise industry to what would happen if one or both of us contacted the virus some time during our cruise, or what would happen if a significant outbreak occurred on our sailing similar to what happened on the Celebrity ships, there is just too much uncertainty for us to cruise at this time.

I think there is still a good chance we will get our deposit back and if all of the issues get resolved no doubt we will be ready to cruise again.  Unfortunately, it's looking more and more like best case scenario will be some time next spring.  Good luck to those that are hanging in there with booked cruises coming up.  And good luck to NCL.  We have really enjoyed the many cruises we have taken with them over the years.

Or becoming severely ill.  Or dying a grim death.

Acute care for Covid-19 isn't cheap and if you plan to cruise, review your options and out-of-network coverage abroad, while on a ship with ICU level care and associated expenses.  Medevac isn't going to be free either and the nearest shore-based medical care facility might be far from home and ... best to have a global medical coverage.

This isn't your typical norovirus and seasonal influenza treatment and recovery, if you are lucky to experience a mild infection and unlucky to catch one somewhere.  Folks from other countries with national health care coverage abroad can speak to this.  Cruise lines are not going to pickup the tabs, not for your convenience, even if it is discounted rates for your care in the event of an outbreak.

The other lines' CEO just quoted as saying last week, he doesn't know when they are going to resume sailing their ships for diehard cruisers.  Hence, plenty of time to debate, challenge and dispute whether to wear a mask, when & where, etc.  This seemed to be an "American" obstacles that some aren't willing to recognize and accept while elsewhere, it isn't a problem.

If I can go to a trump rally without a mask....why not a cruise?  Last week at our hotel we had to sign a waiver, why can't the same be done on a cruise ship.  At this point everything, including a trip to Wal-Mart is at your own risk.

We recently rebooked a fall cruise. And accept the possibility of being quarantined. And are looking for one late in the year.

We went to a resort (along with a few thousand of others) 2 weeks ago for a vacation as things opened back up. Yes, we flew on an airplane with no social distancing and limited mask compliance. Yes, we wore our N95 masks when we were out and about. Yes, it was hard/impossible to properly social distance at times at the resort.

We wear masks all day when we go to work, so wearing one while on vacation was no big deal at all. Yes, we have been doing temperature monitoring twice daily since our return so that we can isolate at the first sign of illness.

Please don`t be too optimistic regarding a vaccine. For the "regular" flu there is a vaccine available but the effectiveness is only around 60%. And i don`t think it will be better for COVID-19. There are vaccines for other diseases which are 100% reliable, but they took 10 years to be developed. So i think that the vaccine is not the thing that will decide about cruising or not cruising.

Much more important is a reliable medicine and a very low no. of infected people.

Distance and masks do help. Just have a look into Europe. Almost all countries have way lower case nos. and the curve flattens rapidly in all the countries where masks are mandatory and social distancing is also mandatory. As long as the US citizens don`t understand that it will take years until the curve in the US flattens.

I am convinced that cruises in Europe will start months before cruises in the US and i am also sure that many cruise lines will accept only EU-citizens on their cruise ships and none US- or brazil-citizens.

That's what makes this virus so out of control and why masks and social distancing are so important.  You could get a temp check and be fine, but still have it and not know it or catch it between your temp checks from someone else. Therefore, your infecting numerous people w/o the proper precautions being taken.  The virus is unpredictable and affects everyone differently.  That's why a mask is for everyone's protection. Consider the mask as a polite gesture to help save lives, including your own and your families. We all know it's an inconvenience, but so are a lot of things we do.  Americans just don't seem to understand that concept. PCakes, glad you survived your ordeal.
