Although a native Northern Californian, my first visit to Scoma’s was when Symphony was in SF and a group of Crystal friends gathered there for dinner and a fun evening together.

Don't I remember sitting next to you on the banquette as in the photo of rxlowry's daughter and husband above?? Think that was the second time I was there with you!! Good times. 🤩😊🥰

Ahem,

Well this weekend we're off to a place in the country we call the inn at little Washington.  We call it this because its name is "The Inn at Little Washington."  We are not clever, but we are accurate.

Celebrating OLoPP's birthday.   Big one.  So big, in fact, that her Uncle Sam sent her a card.  This did not delight her.

I'll cheer her up.  She of course knows about the Inn.  But she doesn't know I booked a kitchen table.  Nobody spoil the surprise.

There may be snaps.  We'll see.

Wow!

Am I ever impressed. At times I've been known to question OLoPP's selection in the spouse department. But with this announcement, I'll forever put that out of my mind.

We were so very fortunate to spend ONE night there back in 2004, including a kitchen table.

Have a fantastic time. We'll be salivating for the photos....

That's what I would have thought as well but someone on the HAL forum found an official answer:

I can only guess that CDC has always favored giving the same shot for both doses, but an adult dose after 12 makes more sense to me.

Roy

So the doctor whose recommendation I saw hadn’t seen the CDC opinion.

I’ve often wondered how it could be right for a 100 lb skinny marink to be getting the same dose as a 200 lb. (or more!?) big bruiser.

Good for you both.

When we lived in Northern Virginia always wanted to go there but not in our budge back in the day.  Friend when there recently for a major wedding anniversary milestone and loved it.  Let us know all about it.  Yes, photos.

Enjoy.  Remember milestone birthday's only come around one time in ones's life.  Well, I guess that is true of every new age someone attains starting with 1.

Somehow, I missed all the excitement of OLoPP’s birthday, but since big birthdays are meant to be celebrated for many days, next time you show up here, KenzSailing, please give her my best birthday wishes:

One of the many times we visited Scoma's.  This one was from 10 years ago.

Brian, the next day we had dinner with you two and with Patty and Michael at Frances Restaurant.

How well I remember! Frances was a wonderful restaurant. Now I’ve got to see if they survived Covid. Sure hope so...🙏

Today's sunrise is from a string of 2013 cruises that started with the Crystal Symphony New York to Miami and continued with MS Prinsendam to the Amazon and back.  On November 7 the Symphony was in Savannah:

Well, it's 11:30 AM EST here.  We are now at T minus 2 hours to departure for the Inn.  This means we have entered the most dynamic part of the pre-flight prep.  The tanks are fueled, entering final systems check, hoping for green lights across the board.

IOW, OLoPP is finalizing her decisions as to what to take. Items to consider:

The arrival outfit

The around-the-room outfit

Evening dinner ensemble

Tomorrow's look for breakfast

I am contributing the way any experienced spouse does: keeping my head down and staying out of the way until we have ignition.

@KenzSailing -- I hope OLoPP had the happiest of birthdays, and I hope you all have an amazing stay at the Inn!  (I hope to hear all about the dinner.)  When I was a young'n, the Inn at Little Washington was probably one of our area's first culinary destinations I was ever aware of...  Back then it was mostly from articles in the Post and segments on travel shows.

My mother always focused on the perks of each milestone birthday and not on the stigma -- a talent none of her children seemed to have inherited.  😕

You have a very smart spouse. This is a task that requires rocket-scientist level of analysis since one needs to pack as well as make intelligent decisions with no items of necessity left behind. No way be like poor Maggie Thatcher who forgot to bring her Wellies to Balmoral.

Finally.

The U.S.now has its own version of U.K.’s Hyacinth and Richard Bucket (Bouquet) in OLoPP and Kenz.

Just back from the Inn.

Spoiler alert: it was a transcendent experience, everything I had hoped it would be for OLoPP's birthday and more.

Oh yeah, I took snaps.  Lots of them.

I'll post but be patient, this is going to take a while.  In the mean time, can anyone give me a quick tutorial on how to post snaps interspersed with text?  If this is too detailed, don't bother I'll find it somewhere on the board.  But if you make the effort, the reward will be more than a little high quality food porn.  Maybe not Vince level good, but hey, the naughty bits are still the naughty bits.

I might even share my story of trading former altar boy stories with Chef (how's that for a transition?)

Mean while, just a taste: Carpaccio of Herb-Crusted Elysian Fields Baby Lamb Loin with Caesar Salad Ice Cream

I must confess I looked at the menu, and I wondered what the heck Caesar salad ice cream could be.

Also, I’m curious if anybody was at the other table in the kitchen.
