Can you still do L&S if you cannot find another cruise with the same itinerary within 4 weeks of the original date for the following year?

When I tried to do the lift and shift, I was unsuccessful.  All of the cruises on every ship with my type of cabin (2 bedroom Grand Suite) was booked for those 4 weeks before and after on my same itinerary (Western Caribbean).  I found one going within the parameters, same cabin type SAME ship, different itinerary and was told that I couldn't do it.  I ended up just rebooking for a different time and just moving the money I have already paid.

It does not have to be the same itinerary only the same itinerary type.

use the on line shift tool and you will get all the options available to you.

Lift & Shift: This option is ideal for those guests simply wishing to move their vacation plans to next year. Eligible between now and September 30, 2020, guests can protect their original cruise fare and promotional offering simply by shifting to a future sailing on the same itinerary type, sailing length, stateroom category, and within the same 4-week period of their original cruise date same-time-next-year.

We were successful getting our our L&S through even though it was not the same itinerary or the same # of days.

Our original reservation was for a 14 day European cruise in a balcony storeroom. When we were considering the L&S option we found there weren't any 14 day or longer European cruises available.  Also, none with the same itinerary.

We found a European cruise in the 4 week time window that was only 11 days long and had a totally different itinerary of cities to visit. Royal Caribbean approved our L&S selection and we were re-booked.

How did the financial aspect work?  I assume your new cruise (3 days less than the old one) more expensive than the old one.  Correct?

We did a lift and shift from Jan 2021 on Oasis Eastern Caribbean to Jan 2022 on Symphony Eastern Caribbean in a star loft. Oasis was not sailing with the same itinerary but our TA was able to get us on Symphony in a star loft which when priced out costs 5000.00 more than what we paid for Oasis but our price was protected. We will only have a small difference in port taxes due to traveling to different ports.

The L/S worked out for us ... a B2B southern caribbean March 2021 to March 2022...keeping an OS that was price protected.

The pricing for March 2022 was much more $$'s.

I'm now considering a L/S for our May 2021 to April 2022...again a much more expensive date saving us $$'s.

I have always wondered how many (thousands) of people are there who have no idea that L&S exists and who will miss out on utilising it.

Those who are elderly, not computer literate, not in social media or sites like this, those whose TAs are not on the ball or simply not at work....

And also how many people don't realize that it is not only for already booked cruises.  If you find a well priced cruise for later this year or next winter/spring you can book it and shift it

Wow, I didn't think of that.  I L&S'd Harmony from November 2020 to November 2021.  My price for this year was less than 800, the one I switched to was over 2500....I just might go take a look at prices.  Thanks!

What are the chances the L/S will be extended past Sept 30th, as cancellations will more than likely extend to the end of this year?

The plot thickens.  I found a favorable cruise I could L&S , went to Royal's website and this is what it now says.

If you prefer to move your existing booking to a 2021 sailing – we’re happy to move you! We will price protect the original pricing and/or promotion on the same itinerary, length, product, and stateroom category as your original sailing within 4 weeks (before or after) of the original sail date in 2021. For example, if you are moving from a July 30th, 2020 sailing, you can move to a sailing that is the same itinerary, length, product, and stateroom category, and the sail date between June 30th, 2021 – August 30th, 2021.

• If your sailing was cancelled on:

- June 30th, 2020, please contact your Travel Advisor or call us by July 17th to move to a new sailing.

- July 10th, 2020, please contact your Travel Advisor or call us by July 29th to move to a new sailing.

- July 17th, 2020, please contact your Travel Advisor or call us by August 5th to move to a new sailing.

• If we don’t hear from you, we will automatically issue your Future Cruise Credit.

• Only available for sailings cancelled as part of our global suspension on May 20th, 2020 or after.

• Complimentary Casino offers are not eligible for Lift and Shift.

***************************************

Only available for sailings cancelled? So, now, if I book for this fall , I can't shift unless my cruise cancels?

No that wording was just for the sailings that got cancelled.  You can shift any booking as long as you find a comparable one and book before Sept 30th   You can use the tool on Royal's website and enter your booking number to see available sailings to shift to  Here;es the link

I'm hoping to have the option to L/S my May 2021 to Apr 2022 before Sept 30th 2020...if I decide to. I was told by someone very knowledgeable on these boards yesterday that I would have no problem...Has that changed ??
