SeaDog-46 Posted September 15, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2020 Yesterday I was listening to the Administrator of Norfolk Island on the radio and he was saying that Queenslanders can land in Norfolk Is. & are not required to go into Quarantine. Returning back to Brisbane there is also no Quarantine period as there has been no virus on N.I. Air NZ are still operating Norfolk Island flights for the Australian Government. There is only 1 flight per week to & from Brisbane. Out on a Saturday & back on a Friday. If you have not been to Norfolk Is. there is a great amount of history there, virtually no crime - houses are left open & keys left in cars. Speed limit on road is 40 kph & animals have right of way. Nearly half the Islanders have ancestry back to the mutineers on the Bounty & the natives taken from Tahiti.
By The Bay Posted September 15, 2020 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2020 We will have to wait until people from NSW can take advantage of this.😒

Rare MMDown Under Posted September 15, 2020 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2020 Recently Walking on the side of the road on the Sunshine Coast, a driver passing did the country wave of lifting a few fingers. Made my day, as I felt I was in the bush.
Rare MMDown Under Posted September 15, 2020 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2020 That is good news re flights to Norfolk Island, as there are no flights to Lord Howe Island at present.

Aussieflyer Posted September 15, 2020 #9 Share Posted September 15, 2020 Possibly but we haven't been there, so might have been an option.

I think once NSW is allowed again, it is better from to fly from Sydney anyway, as there are many more flight options. I can recommend Channers on Norfolk - wonderful hosts, great value and excellent accommodation and vehicle included in the packages.
GUT2407 Posted September 15, 2020 #11 Share Posted September 15, 2020 A beautiful spot for sure, if only we could still fly I;d be heading back.
Aussieflyer Posted September 15, 2020 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2020 Sounds wonderful - off limits for several reasons at present including DH health - cancelled SS cruise over Christmas (not going to happen anyway) - waiting for refund. Hopefully can look at in in the new year ☹️

bazzaw Posted September 16, 2020 #15 Share Posted September 16, 2020 Story told me by a person who hired a minimoke in NI. There is a Company which hires these mokes - I think there are only 3 of them and they are brightly coloured. The Moke was delivered to the hotel he was staying at and when he asked where should he return it , they said "Oh - Just park it anywhere on the Island - we will find it" TRUE!!!!! What a joke that is, there is little Covid in Regional NSW, nothing much in Steak and Kiddly either. How about you sail your boat around Mic? It is a wonder they let you and Rosie in to NI Mic, you are too young. I was 54 when we went, I think we were the youngest on the island except for the residents and workers. Bit like Holland America, if you know what I mean.🤣 Edited September 16, 2020 by NSWP

Well worthwhile, been there 3 times on fly/drives and Antarctic Festival in Hobart a couple of years ago. Great place, I might move there. Good Whisky. The bottle my son gave me for Fathers Day is evaporating for some reason. Edited September 18, 2020 by NSWP
