GeorgesGal Posted January 16, 2021 #351 Share Posted January 16, 2021 Reading this and looking at all the wonderful photos make me feel like I'm on an around the world cruise, which I haven't done, but I have visited so very many of the ports and enjoying 'revisiting' them all! Thank you everyone, and stay healthy for your next adventures! Donna

It was a wonderful introduction to the South Pacific. My friends who were traveling with us had never snorkeled before and this was a great place to start. A calm, beautiful lagoon let them get comfortable with their equipment. And we had a nice walk in town afterwards.

Dismomx5 Posted January 18, 2021 #359 Share Posted January 18, 2021 Two years ago today, we were embarking on the Norwegian Dawn for a southern Caribbean cruise from San Juan. As we left, I was able to get my HAL fix.

OMG, no one should ever do that! Their saliva is highly venomous and there is no antivenom for it. That's beside the fact that all wild animals should be left alone. Observe, don't interact! 😣

I was firmly told to hold my hand just right about ten inches away from the sleepy dragon. Great tour guide. It was an exceptional private tour. After walking and seeing the Komodo Dragons, we took a boat to visit the village. One photo is of a group of young mothers, gathered to watch the show of the day -- us. I gave a baggie of pillow chocolates to one mother, and she was pleased. Another photo is of a group of junior high school girls in matching red shirts. Their group was learning leadership. Rare VMax1700 Posted January 19, 2021 #365 Share Posted January 19, 2021 January 19th 2020, ah yes, I remember it well! We were in Aruba and this is my favourite pic of Aruba! On our very first cruise on Celebrity Galaxy from San Juan, the first call was Aruba. We had an oceanview cabin and on that morning I opened the drapes expecting to see a beautiful Caribbean Island, or a colourful town or even a busy docks area. Instead my view was filled by a tree growing on a sandbar. Since then, everytime we go to Aruba we look forward to seeing that tree and the memories that it brings!

bcummin Posted January 19, 2021 #368 Share Posted January 19, 2021 (edited) Two years ago today we were in Makassar, Sulawasi, Indonesia. We hired a tuk tuk to ride to Fort Rotterdam, then walked back to port. Such friendly people, many wanting to photograph us. Tasty samples in the terminal. The evening Maasdam EXC In-Depth talk was the icing on the cake. Andrew Atkin was one of our best "experts," and he shared the connections he knew about early Australians and Indonesia. rkacruiser Posted January 20, 2021 #371 Share Posted January 20, 2021 2008, The Amsterdam has left Nuku Hiva and I enjoyed a Prime Rib dinner. Two huge slices of beef were served with Yorkshire Pudding and veggies. Salmon and Shrimp Cakes and a bowl of Cream of Cauliflower preceded the arrival of the entree. A delicious dinner; but, most memorable, as recorded in my journal, was my Steward's concern about why I had "not eaten all of my entree". He was concerned if "something was wrong". No, I told him. I am full! However, I did find room for dessert!
