Could being the operative word. Yes a Claytons for sure.

Way back when Clayton's was doing a lot of advertising, a work colleague had a son and named him Clayton. Wife and I wondered if he was real as in was he a kid you have when not having a kid?😁

Are you sure that’s the case?

To quote the Govt

The income test will look at both your:

adjusted taxable income

a deemed amount from account based income streams

I believe the defined benefit income stream is subject to a deeming assessment so there is a value ascribed to it - check out the details of it here

https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink/commonwealth-seniors-health-card/who-can-get-it/income-test

Account based income streams (depending on when they were started, and which policy rule was grandfathered ) can be treated different to an pension from a defined benefit scheme (depending on which scheme it was).

I went to a pre-retirement seminar hosted by my fund, but with a rep from Social Security.  Basically laying out the various options available, and broad brush tax implications..

As I am above the age threshold, a mix of defined benefit and something else is tax exempt.

As I am below the age threshold, I am not eligible for the pension or other benefits cards.  However, the Social Security rep was very clear indicating both streams of income would be assessed against eligibility when I grew up.

It's also on the ABC website, with an interesting comment about airports needing to make sure arriving passengers from safe countries don't mix with arrivals from other countries who still need to go into quarantine.

Our hero Jacinda has announced

Who is the "our" referring to?

For 100% clarity she certainly isn't my hero - and I even get to vote over there....

Good news on the border possibly reopening - we have a group of 30 Aussies tentatively booked for an April adventure to help the NZ economy out - and feast on Bluff oysters and West Coast Whitebait!

I don't have a lot of faith in airports handling that process.

Neither have I. Our Border Force will probably stomp around, mess things up, then claim it's the responsibility of the state. 🙄

Or leave it to the police which will just allow them to go anywhere they wish, they may even escort them around.

Thanks Adrian, I have been reassessed on line via mygov and also in person last week at our regional Centrelink Office. I am ineligible for CSHCC/part aged pension  because of the income stream in excess of 55K as a single person from my defined benefit pension, which was compulsory for me to pay into - 6% of my salary from the age of 19 to when I retired at 55.

I cannot vary the amount of defined pension to get below the threshold. Whilst those retirees who could take a lump sum can adjust their income stream and qualify for benefits. Such is life.

That is a bit nasty young Mic. When I was a Duty Inspector at Mascot - Botany Bay Local Area Command late 90's, Sydney Airport was in my area. I spent a lot of time out there, having the odd latte whilst networking with other agencies in the Qantas Lounge, lol. I always said, NSWP should get out of this B place and leave it to the Plastics (AFP) and Customs/Immigration (pre ABF.)  But a share of the airport policing contract was worth a lot of money to the NSW Govt and still would be.

Anyway it is all in my past and almost forgotten.

Too much of the multi agency stuff out there, can lead to mistakes.

I was referring to the policeman that escorted the two German/Aussies citizens to the domestic terminal for flights onto Melbourne rather than onto the buses for quarantine in Sydney.
