How much gambling is required to receive casino offers?

I've wondered if getting a casino offer has anything to do with who you book your cruise with. We use that big box store and while I spend a fair amount of time in the casino playing video poker I have never received a casino offer.

We booked with a big agent

I agree with the others, time played seems to be more important the $$ won or lost.  This applied to Holland America, Celebrity and Princess.  I normally spend an hour after dinner or the show and on sea days a couple of hours during the day.  I get casino offers from all three lines, not always a free inside cabin, but attractive discounts and free  play.  I also get to know the casino host (the one in charge of the slot tournaments and table game contests.)  Not sure if this helps in getting discounts however.

Its not how much money you win or lose. It is how many dollar bets you make. On Celebrity you get one tier point for each $1 you play off on slots or each $2 you play off on poker machines. These are the tier levels on Celebrity:

Tier levels: Pearl : 1 Tier Points, Onyx : 2,500 Tier Points, Amethyst: 25,000 Tier Points, Sapphire: 100,000 Tier Points, Ruby: 1,000,000 Tier Points.

Usually, once you get in Onyx they start offering you casino discounts. The higher the tier the better the discounts are. If you are playing $1 each pull, you could theoretically put $25 in the machine and win 100 games and play them off 25 times and get enough points for Onyx.

As I've said on many of these casino threads, I've sailed HAL only 3 times and Carnival 30 times, but get better casino offers from HAL.  They're still under the same casino group, right?  I often wonder if that's because Carnival knew I was sailing with them multiple times a year so why offer me great fares?  I got my first deeply-discounted HAL offer after only one cruise.  But, I was sailing Carnival under special casino fares.

I've only just recently received my first "free" offers from Carnival.  Hmm, should I go for 10 nights on Eurodam for $200 or 4 nights on Carnival?  Guess which I selected! 😁

Back when I used to only play slots (on Carnival) my offers were actually better than when I switched to mostly playing Roulette.  I am most definitely NOT a high roller, but I can sometimes play for a couple of hours with a starting amount of $50.  I think the pit boss has a lot to do with how you're ranked at the tables where the slots are strictly money in.  At least, that's my theory.

While the Pit Boss is a factor, the game also is a big deal.  The casino does not make as much on Roulette (per dollar bet) as they do on slots, so guess which earns you better deals!

I have received multiple free stateroom offers from HAL through the years and I am not that big of a gambler.  All I play is slots and usually the lower denomination ones, but occasionally will play the higher stakes one.  I think the time playing actually has more to do with it, but they do track how much goes through the machine, as that is how their points are awarded on your card.  I do usually play every day during a cruise but usually for just an hour or so on port days and maybe two hours a day on sea days.

I am surprised to see this activity being referred to as 'gambling'. It has been called 'gaming' for decades. It's entertainment and just like any form of  entertainment, it costs money. I have spent thousands of dollars over the years taking my grandchildren to Disney, without the slightest possibility of getting any of that cash back. Gaming offers that possibility. Two years ago I won $3,000.00 on a $1.80 bet on the Buffalo game in the casino on Nieuw Statendam. If not for the casino offers, I wouldn't be able to have cruised in all those high-end cabins that I like so much.

I can play table games for hours and break even, where you can lose $200 in 15 minutes on a slot machine, video poker also has better return rates and takes more time to play.

I think Laminator is a "whale" whereas I'm just a Salmon.(Classifications used by gaming companies for gamblers) On a 7 night HAL cruise I will probably spend in access of 10-12 hours in the casino (aprrox. 3 hours a night for 4 nights)  and wager between ($1200-$1500) a cruise averaging about $300 a night. My biggest losing cruise was over $2k twice, I've walked off with $1k to $1200 more on me than when I started twice too. And have won 2 cruises playing bingo!

Four of my next five HAL cruises are Casino offers, one with a free ocean view cabin. (Usually I get about 50% off PP for a Vista suite or above. (On top of the Casino discount connected to my mariner # for every HAL booking)  Yesterday I just booked an RCI casino offer for a 4 day from Galveston this September, I've only sailed on them once before. Today HAL sent an offer for 20% any Stateroom for the NA's last sailing to Alaska this Summer season from SEA.

and then there are us minnows who spend a little here and there but get cruises with casino discounts.  I have my first casino cruise from Holland coming up in November but upgraded from free inside to balcony so not a real steal.

As far as I know, you should be proficient in at least 3-4 card games, and ideally, you should master some of the smaller games that will be present on this cruise. I could be wrong, so it will be easier for you if you check with the organizers about this. I have the best command of the poker game, even though I also know how to play Black Jack. And I often study information about the games and how best to pump my skills to ensure my skills. After I learn the theory, I immediately try to apply them in practice. You also need to understand that click here the most important thing is the ability to quickly navigate in new game conditions. That's usually the thing about poker you can get into a losing position in 10 minutes even if you have good cards.
