After several false starts we will be returning to Princess in November after more than a decade.  I cannot run the app on my iPhone6 and don't particularly want to spend the $$$ for anything acceptable just for this.

 

Is it possible to do the registration process on the website and not bother with the app.  I would expect it is but everything I've seen so far on the site says to load the app.

You do need the app to complete the checkin.  If you go to the cruise personalizer on the website, click on checkin.  You can only do initial checkin and then the rest is on the app.  
The app is to download your passports, your health status, order your ocean medallion to be mailed to you, dining choices and boarding and disembark choices, etc.  You can see on the website what it entails.

If you cannot do this checkin, then you can, at this time, do it at the port.

This, like most of the Cruiselines, are 

trying to make this contactless and as quick as possible.

 

Do you have an Ipad?  Or, is anyone traveling with you that could download it and use it to checkin?

I wish I could say I'm surprised but after a long career in IT this is just one more in a long line of releases before being ready for primetime.  It actually did work on my i6 pre-covid but that was forever ago,  I'll have to break down and visit the store for an upgrade I guess.  With 3 Princess cruises in the hopper I have no choice.

Incorrect, you can call Princess and they will input any details. You can also turn up at the pier and Princess Reps will help you complete information. This latter option might mean a long line.

Having said that, your suggestion to find a friend who can log in is a good one but not mandatory.

You are correct.  I forgot that previous guests did call the Princess help line, for the app and they helped input the information.  How do they get the passport scanned in for them?  
I apologize, as I do remember that some of the AK guests had called the Princess help line.

For anyone that has cruised recently.

We usually take our travel laptop (small screen lightweight). I access the internet on it,access email download photos etc. I can also do that with my phone but prefer using laptop.

Question: Since I know that I absolutely can't download Medallion on my laptop, if I want to access internet will I be able to do so as I had in the past? And even if I want to use my phone for internet,is it through the Medallion or just access and connect as in the past?

I think they input passport data, number, DOB, issue date etc. Scanning passport should be easy in check in line. Just like when you pass through TSA.

Probably.  They should call the App help line to do this.

That does not mean it will transfer over to the app - mine didn't.  I am going to wait till September and try to scan and photo it on the app.  Next cruise not till January

Internet on the ship is separate from the Medallion.

You can connect any device with Wifi capabilities to the MedallionNet internet on board.  Nothing to do with the MC App - separate thing as @JF - retired RRT stated.

@barrykelin a previous post we discussed why I would go from Ok to only three line items, when I had not changed anything. I found if I sign in as DW and select my photo, then all items are there, except Medallion Pay. Which I have not input. Seems the data is there but only shows via one sign in, weird.

Can you signin with the booking # and your name/bday? Sounds like your login just isn't associated with the booking.

Sign in with Booking number or Email, password, personal info just profile photo, security photo, PIN number. Only my account shows, not DW. Sign in as DW both profiles show and mine has all line items, all checked. 
 

I think you are right the link between  my ID and Booking is missing. I will call Support to satisfy my curiosity.

@barrykelI have a cancelled cruise that still shows on my Upcoming Cruises and can log in using that Booking number but get the sane three line items. I promised myself that I would just wait until Princess cleans up the data for our Feb 26th cruise, but can't help checking it out periodically 🙂

I had to purchase a new iPhone. Last January the app worked on it. The new app would not. Still having a problem. This phone ios 14.7.1 so the app now works. Partially that is. Entered all the info that went fine. Next step Medallion or enter your payment information. Either one loads and then goes to a white screen and it is frozen. Must remove the app and start over. Same results. Any suggestion to get this to work?

I had multiple issues of the sort you are encountering. I contacted the developers (several times) and they fixed my data. Suddenly things worked.

Just sent Ocean Navigator another email.  First one was on August 2.  Two issues were never resolved.  

 

I am still only able to sign in with booking number on the app.  When I sign in with my .com user name, I am told that I need parental consent...lol...ha ha funny.

 

Still waiting for arrival window to open.

New MC App version dated AUG 24 released to Play Store - Android version 3.0.94299.

 

DMW enhancements/fixes, plus some other fixes.  However, I do not agree that DMW is fixed.  If curious, see my recent post on the DMW sticky thread where I detail my experiences in testing out the new changes.

Wow, I can't believe how many issues and glitches I'm seeing from the Medallion App.  Here's some of the odd stuff I experienced:

  1. When it comes to my profile picture on the app (not security photo), my face is all squished, and that's from picking a photo I've already taken or a selfie.
  2. I had issues with trying to accept the passage contract, but then I decided to log off the app.  I logged in again, but instead used my confirmation number instead of my Princess username login and it worked.
  3. This one is odd: I had my travel agent rebook my cruise because Princess gave me an even better offer with fare savings and free casino play.  I decided to try to order my Medallion several hours later, but was having problems because my cart had three lanyards and two Medallions (old booking & new booking).  Now today, the old booking is gone, but now I can't even order my Medallion, and there's no way to just dump the cart [that has nothing in it but thinks there is] and start over.  Think this is something I should contact Princess to attempt to reset?  I guess I should be fortunate my cruise is 500 days away.

DH spent hours on Sunday entering info for our 23 September seacation on Regal. Everything was ok yesterday but checking today, he’s still in the ‘green lane’ but I’ve been relegated. Some of my information had gone 😡.

 

I yearn for the ‘good old days’ - book your cruise and turn up at the port.

 

This is too stressful, I have no patience for technology that doesn’t work - it could be the end of our Princess cruising.
