Our cousin is now in the hospital having her transplanted kidney removed 😞  She will then have to rely solely on dialysis until a new kidney is found.

I am so sorry to hear this.  Dialysis is such a tiresome thing and only lasts so long (my Dad was on it for 10 years which was a miracle).

I pray your cousin can find a new kidney soon 🙏🏻 I know how precious it is.

(I was sure I posted this earlier but it looks like the gremlins are at work on CC again).

DW returns tomorrow night and I plan on making a Southwest Grilled Shrimp salad with grilled fresh corn, avocado, tomatoes and special dressing.

Low and behold it’s a Betty Crocker recipe that is very good.

That looks delicious.   I'll have to file it away for future use.

I was about to post a version of this too!

Time to start packing (or at least start road trip planning 😁)!

After having read an extension to that article, I see that a negative C0vid test within 48 (?) hours of arrival is going to be required, too.  Boo...  Maybe they will lighten up soon, at least for road border crossings.

With the Delta variant in the low vaccinated states, sadly, that makes sense.

I don’t know if we will ever get this licked if we can’t get everyone to protect each other 😢

My final (so far) visit to Malaga was in 2017 on the Prinsendam.  This time I did not take a tour but walked around town, climbing to tour the Alcazaba:

From that perch I got a nice view of the Elegant Explorer:

Just a few steps from the Alcazaba was the Teatro.  It was a ruin but quite well preserved:

Many would rebuke the anchovies and jalapeños but it was a great pizza.

I love creating and cooking!

What’s your specialty dish and recipe?

I can identify with @cat shepard.  On my 2008 Rovos trip Roger and I booked a raft trip on the Zambezi below Victoria Falls.  I slipped on loose stone on the way down to the launch point.  By the time I got back to the train, my ankle had started hurting.  The medic on the train looked at it and pronounced it just a sprain.  I didn't want to fly all the way home and instead booked a flight from South Africa to London and did the rest of the way home on QM2.  By the time I was at Cape Town the pain had largely moved from the ankle to the knee.  I bought a cane in Southampton and the sail back was pretty rough.  When I had it checked at home, turns out I had a fractured (partially) patella.  By then it was too late for a cast but the Doctor advised me to hold off walking and I ended up biking instead for a few weeks.

Even sadder.  That is a worry and a trial to do dialysis with two little ones.

Poor her.  Such disappointment after having the transplant to have it fail 😢. I can’t imagine how she must be feeling 😔

Good evening all, I hope everyone had a great day. I’ve been to Malaga on several crossings, did the Alhambra and Mijas and Puerto Banas also did a 4x4 off road trip they the ship.
Any of you that have visited the beach resorts during the summer are familiar with the banner planes that fly over the ocean Today a miracle occurred  in Ocean City  NJ.  The 18 year old pilot experienced engine problems while over Atlantic City, he released the banner into the ocean and was trying to make a landing at the small municipal airport, but instead he ended up landing on the bridge roadway that connects the mainland to Ocean City. No damage to the plane and no injuries to anyone . 🙏

Needless to say traffic was backed up for awhile.

Give me extra anchovies please!

I don’t really have a specialty dish, I try to make a variety of different things. My DH loves my mussels dish.

And I recently made a goat cheese tomato tart that I really liked using an Ina Garten recipe.

Good afternoon!   I can't believe we are on page 5 already!

@smitty34877 Oh, my gosh, Miss Camilla is total cuteness.   What a sweetie pie.  Thank you for keeping us updated.

@Lady Hudson Happy Anniversary!   Here's to 52 more!

@Sharon in AZ I don't see why you couldn't add mussels into it.  Or, make it all mussels.  That is what I was thinking of doing.

@grapau27 You may have to enlarge the garden.  I'm another one who would love to sit there with my book and a beverage.

@cat shepard Goodness, Ann!   If you're going to injure yourself like that, do it at the end of the trip, not the beginning.  I'm glad you had the walking poles and that they were a help to you.  I hope your injury didn't impact your enjoyment of the trip too much.  Iceland is such a beautiful country.   The landscapes are really something.

As for raspberry cake, there are a couple of variations.   Some just incorporate raspberries into the batter and the filling, others make the whole cake pink or red.

Here's one version:   https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/raspberry-cake/

Have fun, bakers!

Oh my God!  These desserts are to die for, especially the cakes, my biggest weakness.

Evening Check In.

The yellow jackets have not been around all day, the new feeder and the vinegar seems to be working.  But I still can't go out there, I went out earlier to water a plant and came back in feeling like I had bees crawling on me.  Yikes!

It's got up to 84 today, way warmer than the predicted 79, so we're suffering just a bit.  Just 10ish more days until our ac installation!

I watched the Serenade of the Seas depart Elliott Bay.  She even got a water salute as the first official sailing of the season.

Have a great evening!

@Cruising-along I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. She seems so young to have such medical problems. Prayers to her and her family.

Thank you.

I think it all started with Lupus, which she's had most of her life.  It seems like she's spent most of her daughters' lives away from them in the hospital...at least a large part of their lives.

Well, it has been as hectic a day as expected or even a bit more.  The rehab went as well as could be expected.  I had walked on my own.  At rehab I would normally start with 20 minutes on the treadmill and then another 20 on a stationary bike.  Since I had walked they were ready for me to spend my time there on the bike.  I had to forgo the weights I would normally do for times sake and made it to the dentist's office with 7 minutes to spare.

The Endo indicated a root canal was appropriate for my situation and it could wait for 3 months after the surgery.  We did it pretty quickly after that scheduled for August 17 (Operation was May 14).

Buying groceries was quick and then it was just cool enough to take my Panera soup to an outdoor table,  I got home, had the rest of lunch, put the groceries away, and headed for the pharmacy to fill the prescription the Endo wrote.

I had hoped to be free by now but got the word that my church finance chair is calling a "brief" finance meeting at 4--famous last words.

Roy

So glad everything turned out today and I hope you are not in any pain.

I'll take what they don't want.

I'm going to have to think about that specialty dish.   It seems to change from time to time, season to season.

I'm pleased to say that today for the first time in ages, I haven't had to sign in to CC over and over all day long.  In fact, I can't remember having to sign in more than once.  Let's hope they've figured out what the problem is and corrected it.  Even if it didn't happen for everyone, those of us who had issues with it are eternally grateful.

Now watch, it will be back to signing in 10 times an hour tomorrow.  Just my luck!

You're right now that you've pointed it out.  Had to sign in only once, but that was because I had logged out on another device.

I want all of you to know that I have gained weight just reading today's Daily. I don't cook much and have a number of food restrictions but the pictures today had me drooling.

Have not heard anything from the Shelter Director today except that he is still in ICU and they have called in a number of specialists. Someone who talked with him briefly said he is pretty doped up (I would think so) and evidently they are not totally sure what the issue or issues are. His blood sugar is fine.

I really miss the Princendam and the Amsterdam..... Don't think I could really handle those mega ships.... am going to have to broaden my HAL experience. All of the ships that was used to are gone now.
