jrapps Posted August 7, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2021 I know that once a person recovers from covid (14 days after symptoms/positive test) they can still test positive on PCR tests for up to 90 days. How does Royal accommodate this for guests who must PCR test prior to sailing? In Disney Cruise line's protocols, they specifically mention this, if a person has recovered from Covid within 14-90 days prior to sailing, they can still be cleared to sail if they provide the Covid test and a Dr's note. Does Royal's testing protocols have a similar exclusion?
molly361 Posted August 7, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2021 If you test positive you can not cruise no matter what the reason is

smokeybandit Posted August 7, 2021 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2021 Just take an antigen test. Only the PCR test is subject to long term false positives after recovery
jrapps Posted August 7, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted August 7, 2021 Thanks...to be clear, this was just an idle curiosity. None of us have tested positive (yet), just read how Disney was handling that and it got me wondering.

Dead virus particles are giving positive test results. Dead virus can't infect anyone.

Do you know where you saw this on Disney's site? I can't find it. We may run into this scenario and wanted to send something to Royal in advance to see how they are handling and if another cruise line addresses this, would like to point this out to them. Quite a few major events in the UK have added the 90 days post covid as an option for requirements recently as well.

Thanks It is not on Disney's site, but in the "Safe Passage" 3rd party tool of the company they use to screen for pre-boarding testing status. For DCL, you have to upload vax cards and tests prior to sail date.
