Caffeine free diet soda question

 Share

Recommended Posts

I'm debating on keeping the drinks package as the gratuity fee is so high.  I have heart condition that cannot tolerate much caffeine and I cannot drink alcohol.  I have seen the drinks list that just states basically they have a lot of soda options.  Does anyone on a recent sailing know if they have caffeine free diet Pepsi or Sierra Mist?  Really wish they would include bottled water in this package.  I'm not sure why they don't

Once in a while I see cans of diet Sierra Mist but have never seen Caffeine Free DP.  Yeah, I get tired of the DP after about day 3.  If you can manage it, a 12 pack of cans brought on board may get you through the trip.

On the NCL website, it says the soda package contains the following:
Includes: Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Mt. Dew, Ginger Ale, Tonic water, Club Soda. The entire cruise must be purchased. Non-Refundable.
Thanks for that, I was looking on the premium beverage package 2021 PDF and didn't see it there.

NCL doesn't allow you to bring it onboard with you.  Wish they did!

Sounds like the drink package might be a waste for you unless you plan to do a lot of mocktails.   One thing you might consider is bringing something like Mio on with you to add to water (or even seltzer water if they'll give it to you).

I'm very sensitive to caffeine and try to avoid it after 11am and my wife is diabetic.   We've asked for and received Diet Sierra Mist on our cruises.   They have it in cans but not the soda gun.

A couple of quick notes:

-because it's in cans, it's not stocked at every bar/restaurant.   Some of the less customer service focused staff will simply say they don't have any rather than get it for you.

-again,  because it's in cans, they have far less of it available.   We litterally drank it all on our last cruise.  Plan accordingly.

Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Mt. Dew, Ginger Ale, Tonic water, Club Soda.

The Mountain Dew stay away from that loaded with caffeine !!!

Sierra Mist is like 7 Up free of caffeine

Ginger Ale Tonic and Club soda don't have it

As for the beverage package(s) unless you are a two fisted drinker -

one right after another you don't need this.

The Beverage packages:

the Sodas package only sodas

the Corks & Caps (beer and wine)

the Premium beverage package (wine liquor beer and sodas)

the Premium Plus package (anything everything nothing held back

includes Specialty coffee and bottle water)

For the most part the sodas are dispensed by a fountain gun device

no cans - but some remote bar locations still have cans on the older

ships - you can ask for the can unopened and take it back to your

cabin for drinking later {{{keep separate from mini-fridge inventory}}}

A bribe (tip) may help here "DON"T OPEN PLEASE" !

When in port ashore you have more liberty to select the beverage

that suits your taste from non-Pepsi vendors but still yet can not

bring those drinks back on board the ship - not even water !  RATS !

Sure you can.  We have had no problem bringing back on water and soda at all ports over the last 6-8 cruises on different ships in different regions.  You cannot get water or soda past the port security on embarkation day, but on port days after that, the ship security allows water and soda.  They are usually just looking for dangerous items and alcohol.

 • 3 weeks later...

Is DIET TONIC Avail on Royal Caribbean serenade of the seas? If not, will they let me bring on board? Can can you bring cans of soda and bottled water back to the room on the deluxe beverage package?

That really bites cannot pay full price to have cans in the cabin for enjoyment

$3.60 (including gratuity) for cans of soda to take back to my cabin on the Getaway last week. You can also use the new delivery service to have it delivered to your stateroom

I didn't find prices to be much better on land.  I paid 3 Euros for a can of sprite in Pisa.

We decline the Ultimate Drinks package (and the $$$ gratuity) and get the Soda package instead, with its much smaller daily fee.

I'd like a diet caffeine free option... diet Sprite/Sierra Mist/7-Up.   As it is, I can choose either diet OR caffeine free, but can't get both.   (don't say water, don't say water)

Its the "cola" and mountain dew drinks that have the caffeine !

But whether it is a diet or full cola there is always the caffeine factor -

Yes there are caffeine free colas

and

diet Sierra Mist but not on NCL ???

As for the fountain dispensed drinks - there is a limit as to how many

selections the dispensing device can handle.

Oddly you are permitted to bring wine on board with a corkage charge

Why not bring you own canned soda beverages with a service charge ?

A package beverage store could be located in the cruise terminal after

security so there would be no hold up in the boarding process and

approved beverages bought at that store could be freely brought on board !

They have diet Sierra Mist ( at least on US port departures).  It's right there on the list Bird was kind enough to share.  It's just listed as "diet lemon lime soda".  I assume because they may use different brand names in different countries.

I haven't sailed with Bubbly as an option.   It's listed above with the soda but labeled as sparkling water.  Does that mean it's available with the regular beverage package or only the Premium?   Technically sparkling water would be an upgrade.
