Celebrity Apex 2021 - Greece - Day 1

Good morning, dear shipmates!
At last we get to take you (and us) on a vacation again. We are just waiting for our flight to Athens at Frankfurt Airport. Tomorrow morning we are going to embark on Celebrity Apex to cruise in Greece and Croatia. After the cruise we booked a week on the Island of Zakynthos at a beautiful hotel…
As always we’ll try to take you along for some virtual traveling.

I wish you a wonderful holiday- Miaminice-  as you are familiar with the Edge- I am sure you will like the Apex as well!

I am just three weeks from my " MSC- Yacht Club" Adventure. I have to admit - I never would book MSC outside the YC. The pictures I saw gave me goosebumps. LOL.

Celebrity Apex 2021 - Greece - Day 1
After an uneventful flight we arrived in Athens on time, showed our PLF forms and vaccination certificates and picked up our luggage.
We walked over to the station of the airport and only had to wait a few minutes before we could board the next Metro train to Athens.
The ride to Syntagma Square took about 40 minutes. We exited Syntagma Station and walked to our hotel Amalia just a few steps away from the square and the station. We had picked the Amalia Hotel for its convenient location and were not disappointed.

Although it was just around noon they already had a room for us. We rested a bit and then headed off to our first must do in Athens... The “Le Petit Village”.
A little hole in the wall place for incredibly delicious creations of fresh and homemade lemonades, smoothies and sandwhiches. Since we discovered this little place in 2015 we are always happy to see that it is still there.

The friendly owner of the place even remembered us and brought us a “Square of Pleasure” brownie as a gift.

As we have already been to Athens a few times before, all we did was take a walk past Monastiraki Square, up to the Acropolis and back through the alleys of Plaka.

In the evening we had he tough choice to make: either follow the restaurant recommendation from the owner of the Le Petit Village or try a place I had read about - the Scholarchio Restaurant
Since the latter was only a short walk away, we decided to go there.
The Scholarchio, although very close, is a bit off the beaten path in Plaka. The menu offered so many enticing dishes it was hard to choose. The menu for two with a free choice of salads, starters, entrees and drinks provided the opportunity to try a few dishes.
Including drinks and desserts it was only € 15 per person - and the food was plenty... and fabulous. Another great find!

Since our alarm had so rudely interrupted our beauty sleep at 3:45am this morning, we took the short route back to our hotel right after dinner.

Have a wonderful cruise…we were supposed to be on the Apex this week for our 25th wedding anniversary when it was scheduled as a 12 night Greece cruise that they canceled..at that point we decided to postpone until next year on the Edge..

Same here, but 2 weeks from today.... for my 70th b'day. Postponed on either Edge or Beyond next year.
