Pursuit or Journey

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or comments on any differences, positive or negative, between cruising on Pursuit or on Journey.  We are looking at very similar Mid-East itineraries at very similar times of year on Pursuit and Journey.  Any reason to prefer one ship over the other?

Agree now they are back to identical layouts and it looks like the shop area on Pursuit is also being opened up to be like the other two in the words of Captain Johannes the only difference is the art on the walls

Is there a casino on the Pursuit?  I know there is one on the Journey, but did not see one on the deck plans that I looked at of the Pursuit.

No.

Also, being removed from Journey during the current dry dock.

The Journey does feature the absolutely unique, extraordinarily talented and energetic Eric de Gray as Cruise Director. For many cruisers who have experienced Eric's originality, that alone is enough to tip the balance in favour of the Journey.

That said, the Pursuit offers the incredible, visibly almost everywhere at the same time, multi-lingual charming Hotel Director, Heike. She has an equally huge following of experienced cruisers as Eric has, so the balance can easily swing in this direction.

So, you can't go wrong with either ship, each featuring rock star-like senior officers. Better yet, book one on each and then draw your own conclusions!

I remember Heike from Journey, as Assistant CD!  Eric is definitely a special person.

I don’t think Heike has ever worked in the entertainment department.

Staff move ships and nothing is set for next year so base your choice on itineraries and dates that suit you. You’re unlikely to make a wrong choice.

Well perhaps she was in an adminstrative position?  I thought I really remembered her on Journey when we met in 2016?

She has been hotel director since inception, so she would have been in that most senior role if she was onboard - Journey was certainly her ship latterly

I believe that she was guest relations manager when we first met her on Journey.

From Azamara's website - we first knew her in Guest Relations on Celebrity in 2001 but by 2006 we were sailing with her as Hotel Director and did not drop back

When Azamara was started in 2007 I came onboard as hotel director. I was part of the opening team onboard the Journey, then opened the Quest shortly after, where I stayed for two years. I’ve been back on the Journey for the past four years.
