Gifts for crew?

From our perspective CASH has two very obvious attributes

-we can carry it in our pocket. No room, no weight.  Never the wrong size, colour, taste, whatever.

-it is magic. the person accepting the money can turn it into anything they so wish...a personal item, a food item, or send it home.  These wonderful folks are there not working for tshirts, candy, dvd's.  They are working to earn money.

Really...would you give your server at a local restaurant/bar a Tshirt or some Hersey kisses or would you leave a real tip??

Exactly how are they going to get goods from Amazon delivered?

I only know about Ft. Lauderdale...

Crew can already have packages and mail delivered to princess (as agent for ship).

Amazon are simply more packages.

On the morning of turn around day, princess delivers to ship.

Somewhere I have a picture of a couple luggage carts overflowing with amazon packages

being rolled onto a ship.

I will have a look, and see if I can find it.

The address of the port agent (which is princess in ft. lauderdale) is usually in the final day patter.

It's out west, almost to plantation, but I don't remember exactly...

Ooops.  Found it.  And San Pedro.

Pre-pandemic, so I don't know if still current:

Crew Name + Rank
PRINCESS CRUISES -- ROYAL PRINCESS
3721 SW 30TH AVE
FT LAUDERDALE, FL 33312-6807
United States

And, Metro services in San Pedro:

Crew Name + Rank
Coral Princess
93 Berth
c/o Metro Cruise Services #PL103
San Pedro, CA 90731
United States

That metro address took me forever to figure out.

A normal person would write:

Berth 93

The delightful postal service will on accept: '93 Berth'.

My head still hurts from banging it on the wall.

That's the address of the Princess office building in Fort Lauderdale.

Even knowing that the crew members can receive deliveries of Amazon packages, I'll still stick to cash rather than gift cards. They can always use the money to buy whatever they want from Amazon--or do whatever they want with it.

DVD ? I dont think its a great idea. Who has a dvd player nowadays.

Cash or money vouchers for amazon.

The other negative about Amazon vouchers is where exactly do they store their stuff while onboard.  They don’t necessarily have a lot of personal space to store things and when they finish their contract and go home, they have to transport this stuff with them.

Once again, an argument for giving cash

Not arguing against cash, but they can use the Amazon vouchers and have stuff sent directly to their families.

  • 2 years later...

I became friends with a crew member and want to send her a gift. A Starbucks card seemed like a good idea but they aren't usually accepted out of North America and her ship is in the South Pacific.

Amazon is an option but she already has too much luggage. Suggestions?
