I can definitely see RCG aligning the no smoking policy on RCL with that of Celebrity. I hope you're right 🙂

Claiming that the vast majority of people in the casino smoke, does not take into account the number of people who don't (or can't) go to the casino because of the smoke. A strange thing happened in our Casinos and bars when they banned smoking: they got BUSIER... by a LOT! Do the math, only 29% of Americans smoke (19% of American women), 17.5 % of Canadians (12% of women). That means that at least two and a half times more people will go to the casino because it is non-smoking (than because smoking is allowed). Add to that the fact (depending on the source of the statistics) 72%-80% of slot players are women and that slots are the most profitable games (since the house can set the payout ratio to whatever they want) the casino that feared banning smoking will see their profits soar (5x more women are non-smokers). Profits are more addictive than either smoking or gambling. Once they find out how much more they make by having non-smoking casinos, they will never go back. I told you so LOL

J0Y0US Posted February 10, 2022 #83 Share Posted February 10, 2022 Boo And from my understanding on Royal there isn't a closed off section for smokers. Oh well easy to skip it then.

Romer2012 Posted February 10, 2022 #87 Share Posted February 10, 2022 I have been a gambler on Royal for many years. I remember years ago there was a small bank of slot machines that was non-smoking. Over the years the casino seems more like half and half. There is a rule that guests can smoke while actively gambling in the casino. I have seen many times groups of people come in just to sit or stand around the machines and smoke. When I asked the casino hosts about this I was told it is an impossible rule to enforce. No smoking at blackjack tables poker tables roulette wheel and casino bar. If Royal would improve ventilation the smoke would be reduced. The casino is placed in such a way as to funnel traffic through to attract people to gamble. But if you have no intention to gamble there are other avenues to travel along the ship such as the promenade/boardwalk.

Will not be going in there on my cruise in a few weeks. 1

Cel_cruise Posted February 10, 2022 #91 Share Posted February 10, 2022 This is so disappointing- I was looking forward to a smoke free casino on Wonder… Guess it’s a short cruise and we were going to have to skip something!
