Not sure what the Royal up factor would have to do with you canceling. I’m not good at puzzles.

A total count of the available cabins for rent....comes down to the last two days.   That opens up actual cabins up for grabs...in my case by tomorrow for a cruise that leaves on Sunday.

I am not cancelling...just waiting to see if my upbid has been granted.

Totally understand how Royal up works.

As someone who has been on 3 cruises since the restart (and tested postive for COVID immediately following the first one), I've avoided most of these posts because they seem so polarizing.  So far we've sailed Mariner twice and Odyssey once.  Scheduled for another in early February.  I'll being going into this knowing:

  • There will most likely be changes that we can't even begin to predict at this time (testing, shows/ports cancelled/venues closed, etc)
  • I may catch COVID
  • I may get quarantined
  • I'll probably have a great time because I usually try and make the best of any vacation.  I'll bring things to entertain myself should it be a worst case scenario.
  • There may be things that frustrate me and I'll need to adapt and overcome
  • EVERYONE should make their OWN decision based on what's best for them knowing all of the above.  If you're solely relying on RCCL to keep you safe -  That isn't fair - especially with the current situation.  There's only so much a company can do short of cancelling all cruises/excursions/entertainment, etc.  I'm responsible for keeping my mask on, washing my hands and following the current protocols.  Frankly it would be embarassing for someone else to correct me when I knew the rules going in.

Our 1st b2b is coming up beginning Jan 23rd on Odyssey.  We have been counting days for a LONG TIME as we originally booked this during a 2019 cruise.  We were originally scheduled for Jan 2020 departure and were pushed back to 2021. This is a 1st B2B for us and our 1st cruise as diamond members.  It's been a long time coming. Unless RCL cancels or we test positive the day before, we are full steam ahead!

My husband and I currently have Covid (courtesy of a sick relative that didn't tell us he was sick - and hadn't tested).  We are both fully vaccinated and boosted (all 3 Pfizer) - but the booster protection against Omicron isn't very good (maybe 35-40% as of end of November).  We are pretty certain we have Omicron.  We both have symptoms like a bad cold (with chest congestion) - but not serious enough to warrant further treatment.  My husband tested positive first - on the 27th.  He's already feeling much better.  I didn't test positive until the 29th, but I'm hoping to feel better in a few days.

The only silver lining to this is we should have very good immunity from Covid,  if our March 6th Oasis sailing isn't cancelled.

We both tested positive this afternoon. She's pretty sick, I only have a cough. Getting antibiotics and cough medicine after checking in with our doctor. Hopefully we'll get to negative by 1/15.

Congrats on making Diamond and enjoy your perks...specially the drink vouchers. Don't forget your free photo and free casino promo.

Enjoy the b2b!...can see you very relaxed and smiling at turn-around day. Hopefully you are staying in the same cabin...and also hoping there's a special lunch for b2b passengers. Happy Sailing!

Jan 9th Anthem. Just hope we have ports to stop at.

I'll be on the same sailing. I'm actually more concerned about catching COVID before I leave than on the ship itself! I always wear a mask, sanitize my hands, social distance etc. but half the people here in Michigan don't. The biggest bummer will be if they cancel a bunch of ports...fingers crossed 🤞

Question:  when you moved your cruise what were your options?  Did you lift and shift or did you have to cancel and rebook?  I am waiting for protocols to come out for my February cruise to see what the options are, if any.

I just asked them to move our booking to another ship/date. They transfer the funds we've already paid (literally the entire cruise had been covered by FCC). We moved from a 4 night to a 6 night cruise, from Freedom to Allure. We did move down one level in staterooms, and we will pay the difference of $155. I did do a lot of research to find the best deal for our family. Good luck!!!

I am also on this sailing.

We are, too. Still planning to go, but have a back up plan in case either of us pop positive between home and arriving in Florida since we’re flying in a few days early. Ugh…

We cancelled and moved our Celebrity 1/24/22 cruise to 12/12/22. Same cruise, just a different date for us. Now if Celebrity would just get out cruise fare straight. One time zero, next time we owe $352, next time they owe us $330, latest go is we owe them $330. Duh !!!!  It should be 0.

It sounds like you canceled and re-booked? That's why there is a price difference. vs Lift and Shift that allows you re-booking while protecting your original fare price.

Can she go get the monoclonal antibodies or the new pill?

The price difference: January cruise was $400 more than the December cruise. I called Celebrity this morning and there seems to a surcharge applied to the reservation that should not be there. She stated that it is technical glitch in their IT system....I hope so.
