I should not be typing this. I should be in seat 11D on a United flight heading to Fort Lauderdale excited to board the Equinox tomorrow after cancelling 3 previous cruises. Instead, I'm at home sitting in front of my PC. I know the decision to cancel was completely ours.....but it is still very depressing!!!!!

I understand!  We are on the fence with a 2/26 cruise.  Whenever I feel down, I count my blessings!  I feel bad complaining because people are dying from Covid (a former HS classmate) 😞  Hopefully the numbers will start getting better in the next few weeks and we can all cruise with less worry.  Just think, if you got quarantined or had to fly home from a foreign country....not fun & a waste of $$.  I hope you snap out of it soon and know that this crap is temporary!!  🙂  Take care, Kris

Kris, thanks for your supportive reply and agree with all your comments. As I said in my original post, I am absolutely fine with our decision to cancel because I know we did the right thing especially since we both have underlying conditions.  Hopefully for everyone worldwide, there is a light at the end of this very long tunnel.

We are on the fence about cruising!  We have to make that decision this week!  We are due to fly out on the 18th for our Reflection cruise on the 19th.  We haven't cancelled yet.  My husband wants to cancel, but I am holding out.  He is afraid of the casino being closed, ports being closed, activities being scarce, possibility of being isolated, wasting all that money.......etc.  But my glass is half full, thinking of very few passengers, really good food, getting out of town......  Guess we will make a decision in a few days......

Suggest that he do all the cooking, dishes and laundry and change sheets every other day!

Completely understand. We are scheduled for the Apex on 1/29 but will wait until closer to the date to decide. Half of me is hoping Celebrity cancels so I don’t have to make the call, but that is a long shot I think.

LOL.....I actually can't complain.  I got a good one.  He does the dishes (even thought we have a dishwasher), cooks a lot of the time, knows how to do the laundry, and helps me change the sheets.....

Be glad you are not sailing Oceania.  No firm 48 hour FCC policy like =X=.    You'd likely be flying with no assurance you'd get your ports, and no guarantee you wouldn't be quarantined.  I had 9 cruises cancelled.  I feel your pain, but please feel a bit of relief as well.  This too shall pass.

Sadly, we cancelled our 1/14 cruise on the Silohoutte. We just recovered from Covid but my husband has a never ending cough. Hoping we can make our other planned cruise in March.

My sister-in-law was on the RC Brilliance this week and was signed up for a back to back cruise.
Her spouse tested positive so they are disembarking today back in Florida today. Luckily they were only quarantined onboard for 2 days.

Please people, we are trying to make Loracpin feel less depressed about missing the cruise.  Let's not turn this into another ugly thread.

Loracpin, I totally sympathize with you, but you are safe at home, you will not be missing ports and worrying about the person coughing as they go down the hall.  Do you have a future cruise to look forward to?

DH and I got tested the other day and my money was on a positive test.  Well we were both negative.  DH has all the symptoms and a Dr friend told us there is a 15% false rate in the tests so we stay home now as if we were positive.  And yes, it is depressing.  We are sitting on the fence with regard to cancelling our April cruise.

And yes, we are tripled vaxxed.

When is this going to be over so we can get back to normal life?

Take care and keep yourself safe.

Thanks for taking it in the way it was intended! I have a good one too. He’s been a house husband for many years now, and I think he’s anxious to cruise because he’s the one doing most of the housework.

l - it is unfortunate that you cancelled the sailing...  YET, remember there will more opportunities to sail and hopefully soon at that.

By that time you will be even more excited to sail and be in seat 11D on UA...

Keep the faith and bon voyage

This is certainly a stressful time for those that want to travel.  Mostly because of the increased difficulties in the travel itself.  Especially when one has to fly and where a positive test not only may negatively impact ones vacation, but even the ability to get home. I felt the same way when I canceled a trip outside of the country this month.

We have chosen to do a cruise this month (Hawaii) , but only because we drive to and from the port.

The good news is that this should peak fairly quickly and March should be a good month.

Teabag, to answer your question. Yes, we do have a future booked cruise on the Beyond to look forward.

As for your comment, about turning this to "another ugly thread", I agree. It never ceases to amaze me the directions some responses will take to be combative!!

I can certainly sympathize with you.  I am supposed to be on Leg 1 of a B2B cruise right this minute.  I chose to cancel and had "down" feelings the first two days.  Then I thought about it and decided I'd rather be home than alone in a stateroom not enjoying any of the cruise perks, like shows, shopping and excursions.

I will be getting the FCCs but may not use them.  I have until the end of December, but I don't chose to fly and sailing during hurricane season doesn't appeal to me.

You made the right decision for you, as did I for me.  There will be other cruises, God willing, and hopefully this damn pandemic will wear itself out.

Too bad we don't live closer -- we could commiserate with one another.

I even cancelled a cruise I had booked for Feb. '23 because I have decided I am not cruising during Dec, Jan and Feb, and maybe even March.

No doubt. I remember January/February 2020 thinking we were going on our March B2B Caribbean and our September NE/Canada cruise. Nope. IMO, it's inevitable a pause in coming again. Sooner than later. Deja Vu 2020.  Currently we are still planning and going on our March B2B Caribbean and September NE/Canada 2022 cruises. We will also continue with our land based vacations/trips.

Exactly what I feel.  Also booked on the 1/29 Apex.  And very put off by the prospect of a deck 3 isolation.  If they could just add some with balconies!
