Hi all

WeI are sailing from Southampton on a Mediterranean cruise. When tipping room service etc what is the best currency to use - US dollar,GB pound or Euro

We have always sailed in the Caribbean so always tipped US dollars.

Thanks for any replies

On our recent European cruise we tipped in US dollars.

I have received an answer to this question several times over the years (asked again in case it changed). The crew does not care one bit what currency you tip them in. They exchange it easily and cheaply on board. When doing cruises with multiple currencies (Asia comes to mind) I used this as a way to use my leftover currency before I went home. Win win.

Just curious, but can you go to Customer Service (like you can on Celebrity) and get an "Additional Tips" form to use to allocate any extra OBC you may have at the end of the cruise to go to select individuals such as your cabin steward or specific dining room servers?

No.

You can add money to the tip pool at Customer Service, but not to individuals.

On our last Med cruise we had Euros,  British £ and US dollars in abundance, so we gave a variety of currencies to those we wished to give extra recognition.  We always asked if it was okay with them and the answer was always Yes!  No need to be concerned at all.

You may not be aware the daily tipping added to your account has already taken care of this so no need to tip again unless you want to. Room service is included in the tipping pool.
