Gala Night Fashion: Let's See some pictures!

Hi everyone,

 

I will be taking my first cruise ever on the Zuiderdam with my husband, teenage daughter, and father-in-law in about a week.  I've done quite a bit of research in advance of our cruise, and have found thus far a spectrum of interpretation of dress appropriate for "Gala" Nights.  

 

I would love to see how YOU experienced Holland cruisers interpret appropriate dress for a "Gala" dinner evening.  (I will happily share some photos of from our upcoming cruise upon our return. Photo of us at the Oregon Coast. We haven't travelled since Covid!)

Fun idea for a thread - thanks for sharing your photos

 

In my early cruise days, I always found it fun to search the "Alex Evenings" brand on eBay, looking for inspiration for highly packable and well-priced gala night suggestions.  Recycling points also,  for often only one-time worn items others got for their own sole use special occasions.

 

Everything was washable and fabrics and cuts in this brand had enough stretch to be comfortable and forgiving for another round of special occasions.

😄  No, I was 19 (all my siblings married about that age).  DH was 21.  If my grandkids try getting married that young I'll smack them.😉  Our generation seemed more mature at those ages.

We had a "Tuxedo Junction" on the Zuiderdam - We met in the Ocean Bar - Get the band to play the theme song!   

 

I encourage everyone to have a "Tuxedo Junction" on your next Gala Night!

And remember gala attire for Alaska cruises may look very different.

My sister and I on the Noordam September 2016.  Seated because the seas were very rough.   We had more fun looking at the seas than enjoying our dinner.   @OlsSalt I did the same thing - bought my gown on eBay.

I wear heels almost every night, but they aren't as high as I used to wear. 🙁 
Mobility and balance difficulties have lowered the heel height significantly from my personal best (about 4" back in the day).

My DH!  You can barely see it, but he is proudly wearing his 2 star pin as well.
