Woody14 Posted April 5, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2022 So as an average person who enjoys a couple of cocktails during the day, some wine with dinner and and a couple of drinks at the shows, I can see how I could perhaps hit 10 in a day is the 15 drink limit really a big deal? Caps_Shield Posted April 5, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2022 I have never hit it on a cruise. I am a average to a little above average drinker. Personally I think 15 is plenty.
katiel53 Posted April 5, 2022 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2022 I have never in my best days hit 15 drinks in a day. I didn't even do that when I was young and spending weekends at the Jersey shore. I just can't imagine that some complain that the limit is unreasonable and try to find ways to get more than that daily. It's way beyond my comprehension.
dsfitz Posted April 5, 2022 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2022 Some also think that the 15 drink limit is all drinks (soda, coffee, etc.). It is not - it is only alcoholic drinks. You can have all the soda, coffee, milkshakes, etc. you want.
Hoosierpop Posted April 5, 2022 #5 Share Posted April 5, 2022 I’ve hit it but it’s very rare for me. But if someone starts at breakfast and is still going at midnight, you don’t even have to get that drunk to hit 15. But I don’t drink throughout the day like that. So no, it’s not an issue for me.

Elustriah Posted April 6, 2022 #8 Share Posted April 6, 2022 The very first time we got the package I was sooooo worried 15 wouldn't be enough lol I like mimosas with breakfast, couple by the pool during the day, before dinner, with dinner after dinner And one day I think I hit 12 and I was hammered, we still laugh about me not thinking it was enough. Even my husband who can drink more than me hasn't hit it.
mz-s Posted April 6, 2022 #9 Share Posted April 6, 2022 I usually hit it once per cruise.

scorpioncrawl Posted April 6, 2022 #11 Share Posted April 6, 2022 Ok, so does the limit start over at midnight? We are late nighters, and I'm thinking when does the clock start on the 15 limit?

eagletwo Posted April 6, 2022 #13 Share Posted April 6, 2022 We have hit the limit once, but have come close a few times. We average 11 drinks a day, but do stay hydrated with water during the day.
Joebucks Posted April 6, 2022 #14 Share Posted April 6, 2022 I think I hit it about 1/3 of the days. I was never proud of it. I usually regretted it the next day.
Indytraveler83 Posted April 6, 2022 #15 Share Posted April 6, 2022 We've hit the limit on sea days. It's sneaky how fast it can hit you if you start early! In the morning we could have 2 mimosas, then around lunch time turn to a margarita, or two, or three. Late afternoon a stop at the atrium bar for a nice martini and some violin music puts us at 6. Now at dinnern(we eat early), we'll have a glass of wine... Ok two glasses. And doesn't that chocolatini go perfect with dessert? Now we are at 9. Change clothes, head out to listen to some music and there's another two rounds. Piano bar opens, head in there for some fun, and three drinks later you've nearly closed it down. Now we are at 14. Am I intoxicated enough to think the night club is a good idea? Or maybe there's one last comedy show. Would I like a nightcap? Certainly! Is the limit a problem? Not for us. But it's crazy how fast they go on sea days.
Rare sparks1093 Posted April 6, 2022 #16 Share Posted April 6, 2022 Well, to be fair there is a 15 day a drink limit for non-Cheers holders as well. I have seen bartenders override this on the computer so I think bartenders still have some latitude to serve or not serve a customer based on how inebriated they appear- if they appear ok they can serve them, if they are sloppy drunk then they can refuse to serve them and cite the 15 drink limit as the reason. Takes the argument right out of the picture because it's "policy". 15 drinks spread evenly throughout the day isn't a problem. 15 drinks in a couple of hours is a different story.

wesorbeth Posted April 6, 2022 #18 Share Posted April 6, 2022 We usually hit 12 -14. I have a spiked coffee after my regular, mimosa with breakfast, a few drinks by the pool, wine with dinner and a few at Alchemy. I have never been intoxicated on a cruise. We do drink a bottle of water with every drink or two.

d12j28 Posted April 6, 2022 #20 Share Posted April 6, 2022 We hit it almost every day on a cruise without getting fall down foolish drunk. 1 at breakfast, usually a spiked coffee. Sit by pool after breakfast and will have 3-4 more until lunch time. Have lunch and go back to room and change, have 1 or 2 there while changing and maybe sit on balcony for a few mins. Already at 6 or 7 by 1 or 2pm. Casino for a bit and have a few more. Another with dinner. A few at a show or watching a band and then casino again. Basically drinking from 10a.m. to 10p.m. Usually by 10 or 11pm I'm done drinking (at 15) and ready for a pizza! I'm sure @MeganGC1983 would agree!

Rare crewsweeper Posted April 6, 2022 #22 Share Posted April 6, 2022 (edited) IMO. you don't buy (or not buy) Cheers due to the 15 drink limit (which if you're hitting daily, you may nee to attend a few Friends of Bill sessions). Rather you buy it so you can enjoy higher priced drinks, and specialty coffee, water, soda which you would not typically purchase on your own. You don't buy it, if one or both of the 2 adults in cabin don't drink or drink only a small amount, or if your usual total cabin bar bill is less than $700 for a 7 day cruise. That's 80% of Cheers cost, which gives you room to try other things. Edited April 6, 2022 by crewsweeper

Easy for me. I do 6-8 beers by the pool during the day. Two glasses of wine with dinner and then if I go out at night, I'm getting near the limit. Not complaining. 15 is plenty, but I do prefer RC's unlimited package so I don't have to stress about it.
CrzRani Posted April 6, 2022 #24 Share Posted April 6, 2022 My friends and I do an annual 3-day weekend cruise. every year. It's crazy to say, but the goal is to see who can hit 15 all 3 days; Carnival doesn't make too much off of us. It usually starts with a bloody at breakfast, a spiked coffee, couple of drinks in the casino, beers at the pool, then a drink for our pre-dinner gathering, a couple at dinner, a couple at a comedy show or piano bar and eventually we have our last drinks at Alchemy and take that to the casino to finish the night off. There is a lot of water in between, so we do a great job of pacing ourselves and not drinking too many heavy sugary drinks. That's the kiss of death.
clech Posted April 6, 2022 #25 Share Posted April 6, 2022 My only complaint about it is 1 drink is not equal. 15 16oz beers vs 15 12 oz beers vs 15 gin & tonics that if you tip well seem to get more gin than tonic are not the same. I do like the fact that I don’t have to worry about a limit on other cruise lines as I only drink beer and I find sea days I can hit 15 just having drinks throughout the day (especially the 12 oz). But it’s not really that big of a deal to me, if I hit it, it’s usually close to bedtime anyway.
