sewgood Posted April 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2022 We had a move over offer today for our june 14th cruise on the Pacific Explorer. Our first move over offer ever on any line. I think this shows how popular the early cruises are. We were offered our "cruise fare to be reduced by 50% if we moved to a balcony instead of our mini suite. Or would you like to take a different cruise and receive a FCC with $400 per person onboard credit?" The offer wasn't good enough to tempt us but I'm sure someone will snap it up. We have already booked our hotel and flights to Sydney so we're not taking them up on their offer and we know how good the mini suites are on the Explorer so not interested in moving to a balcony. We were lucky to grab a mini and our other family members have a suite so I'll be interested to hear if they have had a move over offer.

I'm sure somebody did as there hasn't been another offer come through. It was good offer for some but we would probably end up in a balcony right at the front of the ship. No for little old super seasick me. 😵 And besides we would lose our priority boarding which we need to stay with our other family members in a suite who will need help with their carry-ons. We have to stay on their good side so that we can use the padded chairs on their balcony. 😁

From window to balcony, money on original cruise refunded and a new cruise for 4 weeks for free. It sounded like they overbooked. It's going to be a long time before this happens again.
Rare arxcards Posted April 8, 2022 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2022 In the mad scramble, they over subscribed some of the guarantees, so when the jigsaw puzzle was being put together, some of the pieces couldn't fit. There are so few minis and suites on Explorer, they have very little wiggle room. Sometimes you can get lucky, and I had one late in the days of Pacific Sun. We ended up with a full refund plus a free replacement cruise. It was super lucky, as we were only days from cancelling the original one due to ill health. I also wonder if the cruise lines have been told how many people are allowed to sail. I cant imagine they would be allowed 100% capacity to start with.

I am not aware of any restrictions, but they might need to keep a section vacant for a possible quarantine area as they have done in the US. If an area exists it wouldn't be located near any of the minis or suites though, and if they had a passenger cap, they would keep the cheapest cabins empty. I've had a look at the Coral Princess and they are keeping the mid ship obstructed view windows on the left hand side of the ship free from bookings * so I think that these would be the quarantine cabins. If they have a section for isolation I would have a guess that P&O would as well. This is all speculation of course. * This is just for the new winter cruises.

I have been reading in the "First Time Princess Cruises, Got Covid" post. They currently have a lot of covid cases, and I think they have put the quarantined guests in balconies on Aloha deck, and allowing smoking on their balconies. eewwwwww. They said this was because the smokers in quarantine can't just walk out and go to the smoking section to have a ciggie. YUK. Now if you are correct, I wonder what the rule will be for these folks in the obstructed cabins. Edited April 8, 2022 by CDaze71

Our Q hotels had plenty of nicorette users.

How can they even sell cabins? or take bookings for selected cabins if they don't even know how many passengers they are allowed to take onboard. The giant PONZI scheme continues. The fact that the cruise lines are selling cabins, suggests that discussions with the government have not indicated that they must severely restrict pax numbers. Someone else mentioned that one whole section of obstructed view cabins on the Coral Princess is not available for sale. Maybe these are being reserved as isolation cabins. Like the old days, they are allowing half of the casino to be used for their smoking area, but they have to wear their masks between puffs. 😏

The giant PONZI scheme continues. Not Ponzi, and not even a rookie error of not sliding an abacus bead across. These are offers due to the ship being changed, not because of overall passengers. They are still selling inside & outside cabins for this cruise, so it is not yet at capacity - whatever that may be. The cruise affected was to be the first cruise on Pacific Adventure until they swapped it over to Pacific Explorer. The offer is for areas of the ship where they have more of the same type of cabin on Adventure than on Explorer. They would have expected cancellations from passengers who wanted to try Adventure, but obviously didn't get enough.
