@bonsai3s, if by any chance you're coming to Captain's Corner, we are sitting in the front row of armchairs immediately behind the central tiered seating. I'm wearing a red check shirt. Come and say hi. 🙂

Oh my lord! we went to listen and left...

Attended the "Cheers with an Officer" lunch.

Lively crowd today.

Menu

Tuna Tartar

Goat cheese salad

Pepper corn, bacon something? (had too much wine by this time)

Surf & Turf (filet mignon and shrimp)

 Grilled Chicken

Creamy Truffle Risotto

Carrot Cake

Chocolate Cake

(Free flowing red & white wine...and champagne.)

What is in the library on deck 6 of 270 where the other Q class have the online center?

Just books and tables. No computers or printers.

We went to the C&A behind the scenes talk, which was quite well attended. The three speakers explained a bit about what they do, answered questions and showed a couple of videos. It was slated to last 30 minutes but actually took an hour. I thought it was quite interesting but DH was bored and fell asleep. 🙄

A couple of random shots:

Flowrider with the sky diving simulator in the backdrop. If you zoom in you can see one of the instructors flying high.

Bumper cars. This was the first time we'd actually found time to see them in operation.

The sea is like glass today.

A Grimaldi Lines ferry, taken from our balcony:

And what I think is Mount Etna (pretty sure I heard the Captain say we'd be passing it) with a little puff of smoke coming out the top. This one was taken from the solarium where we have retreated for a couple of hours before seeing to the dreaded packing.

@bonsai3s can you answer this? We're just in an ordinary cabin so I don't know the answer.

Oh, my bad! I thought you were in a suite or Pinnacle, I'm actually more interested in the 'normal' experience as we're just in regular old steerage! 😃  Thanks!

Have the folks on this cruise been made aware of the COVID numbers (if any) that may be on this sailing?

Just wondering how informed the passengers are of the situation.

e

No mention at all, at least not that I have heard.

If you want to print something you need to go either to guest services or the voom person, email the document to them and they will print it for you.

Just to add to my earlier post, we got them printed at the Voom desk, where there was virtually no line at about 11 am, so much better than going to guest services.

With our bags all packed and outside the door before dinner, I was able to catch the final show of the cruise:

As @little britain said, he is very entertaining and there was a surprisingly good turnout, given that it's the last night of the cruise.

Early to bed now as we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow.

I will do a summing-up of the entire cruise experience after we get home, so feel free to keep posting any questions you may have in the meantime.

And in case anyone boarding the ship tomorrow has been following along, I've done my best to look after her for you. Enjoy! ☺️

Think that ones Stromboli. A few years ago it erupted a few weeks before we past.

Could be. The Captain did mention Etna but I thought that was a while before we passed this one so it's entirely possible.

Sitting in two70 waiting to be thrown off the ship. 😭😭😭

I guess they need to update the information on the departure screen because it still says to go back and wait in your room after breakfast.

This is not the case; rooms have to be vacated by 8 am.

The Celebrity Beyond is here in Civitavecchia this morning.

Hoping to sail on it exactly 4 weeks from today 🙂.

Safe travels home everyone .

Thanks for taking precious time out from your cruise to post all the pictures and information - I've been glued to it and have picked up some useful tips. 103 days to go until we board Odyssey!

Can I ask what was the earliest you could get off the ship if doing self departure?

We have a flight booked home (Ireland) for 11am , and have always made this flight with plenty of time when sailing from Civitivecchia.  Just wondered about now , with all the chaos at airports all around the world.

It would also be useful if you could let us know what the queue situation was like in Rome airport.

Thank you very much. I've really enjoyed doing it. I hope yours goes well after the disappointment of missing out on this one. 🙂

Departure times below:

Our room overlooked the promenade deck leading to the gangway and we saw people making their way off at 6.45-ish. I'm not sure exactly how long before that they started disembarkation but the whole process was very smooth.

I'll report back on the airport situation later. We are spending a few hours in Rome before making our way to the airport since our flight is not until this evening.
