RFerrington Posted May 17, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2022 So it's basically returned to the pre-pandemic rules. Cool
cruisegirl1 Posted May 17, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2022 I love how the article uses "secretly" makes changes. Anyone who is an active member of Club Royale likely knew the program was changing on May 1. And as noted, it basically changed back to pre covid rules. As an occasional player it was really easy to get enough points for potentially a free cruise. My play certainly didn't warrant a free cruise ( just over 800 points) but hey, if the casino gave me one with only 800 points you can believe I booked it! The goal was to fill cabins and it worked, too well! M
edrussell Posted May 17, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 17, 2022 We sure as heck enjoyed the lower gameplay required for free sailings. Had our first sailing ever back in Jan of this year, we snagged that one off MyVegas. Then my wife hit 1600 points on that first cruise. Based off that play we've booked 3 more cruises, all fully COMP'd.

We didn't know - only found out about it on Cruise Critic! I'm Prime and DH is Signature and didn't even get a casino welcome letter in the suite here on Oasis. Host says emails were sent out regarding the change but we didn't get those either. Certainly understandable that they are returning to previous rules.

Dunfer Posted May 17, 2022 #7 Share Posted May 17, 2022 OT, but I don’t know where to look. I know some people use their spouse’s card in the machines from time to time. If you should hit a hand pay, do they give the money to you, or do you have to track down your spouse? TIA

I know some people do play with their spouse’s card, I don’t know what happens during a hand pay. 😫 Of course I have never been lucky enough to have a hand pay so I have no personal experience sadly! TIA You simply hit cash out at the slot then take your slip to the casino cashier and they hand you the money. No seapass involved unless it is a large winning that requires tax form to be completed. Mikew0805 Posted May 18, 2022 #10 Share Posted May 18, 2022 It's still not back to pre-pandemic rules. They are still offering comp cruises at below 2500 points. Currently, 1600 points will get a comp cruise on specific "closer" in dates. Personally, I welcome it going back to the way it was pre pandemic. Sounds like we're talking the $1200 or more in a single pull and how to handle seapass if it isn't you playing 😉 Edited May 18, 2022 by dodgestang
Dunfer Posted May 18, 2022 #12 Share Posted May 18, 2022 Yes, dodgestang. A hand pay, where they come to the machine with cash. You can’t get a printed ticket. Guess I’ll ask the Host next week.
Ronaldo807 Posted May 18, 2022 #13 Share Posted May 18, 2022 How does this impact the free offers people were getting even without hitting the 800 point mark? For example, my friend got just over 100 points on a sailing back in November and received free room offers every month up until the point reset in April. Will they be going to ONLY offering free rooms to those that hit the point thresholds? Or will people still potentially receive free offers even without hitting those numbers? I'm not familiar with the "old way" of doing things so I have nothing to compare it to.

Casino hand pays (and tax responsibilities) on slots go to the person who hit the spin button. Any players card (or sea pass) being used in the machine is irrelevant. It seems like online people report all kind of things – one person said that they insisted that she get her husband, others say it was mentioned but they paid, others said it was no problem. As we so much with RCL, it seems to be consistently inconsistent. Edited May 18, 2022 by AlohaLivin

We were on Odyssey of the seas when my husband hit a handpay. He was playing with his sea card but did not have his driver’s license on him. They need that to make out the tax form. I was at a different slot machine and they came over to me and took my ID and processed the tax document in my name as if I had hit the hand pay instead of him. It didn’t matter since we are married and file jointly. We are also both Prime and eligible for free drinks in the casino, but getting a handpay does not have any bearing on that. Your status depends on the amount you play on your card, not what you win or lose.

The poster had asked whether it would be a problem or not to have the spouse’s card in the machine vs their own when they won a hand pay out; I was saying I had not experienced it personally. Others playing with someone else’s card have had various experiences with it that I have read about. I was only pointing out that was an interesting question. I am currently on Allure I hit 3 different Jack pots Each time the machine locked and told me to call attendant. I knew from winning a $15,000 on Symphony to have drivers license. My husband had to run to cabin to get it. ( last year on symphony) Now I carry it when gambling. The first jackpot I had to give my license. The next 2 I was already on file. They told me not to leave machine. They came back with cash and a filled out tax form. Take care.
