Carnival Looney Bin it is thenĀ šŸ˜‚

Ā

I like that the name is unique. For years we had Pacific Sun & Sun Princess, Pacific Dawn & Dawn Princess, Explorer of the Seas & Pacific Explorer, Legend of the Seas & Carnival Legend, Pacific Jewel & Norwegian Jewel etc.

Have been following the Australian Roll Calls, which, to date, have few people on them. Ā Seems there are other people, like me, who are waiting to see what happens. Ā

If Carnival cancel a cruise you get $450 obc for a 6 day cruise and $ 900 fir those over 7 days due to covid .

Itā€™s not getting a lot of love on the social media groups either. Ā Iā€™m in a couple of Carnival specific cruise groups and the updates on the makeover and the Captain and Cruise Director are getting very little response but lots of excitement for the return of the Splendour.

Ā

It has only been open for booking for a few weeks, while Splendor has been holding long awaited cancel/rebook/cancel/rebook again for a couple of years. Also plenty of past Splendor cruisers there too.

Ā

That said, the only thing that has excited me about Luminosa so far is the prices. It is 2nd prize to having Spirit full-time.Ā

Nah, roll calls are dead here on Carnival. They have a big social media presence, and have succeeded in having their own corporate version where they can control the conversation.

Ā

We have two cruises on Splendor next year. No roll calls have been started, and I just couldn't be bothered. By the same estimation, we are the only passengers on our Feb Majestic cruise too.

Just booked the Kingsford Smith Hotel. Ā Booking confirmation advises there is a courtesy shuttle between 7-3 daily to the cruise terminal & drop off shuttle to domestic and international airport. Ā Need to be booked by phone the day before.

Yes, website is out of date. Contact them. They and some of the other Kingsford Smith Dve hotels are still doing a shuttle to the new terminal, limited and by pre-arrangement.

Their website says Mon-Fri but booking confirmation says daily and we need the shuttle on a weekend and they just said to let them know our boarding time when we know it.

I am a bit disappointed I couldn't line up one of these early cruises, as the deals were fantastic.

Ā

One reason is that we already have two cruises in October. The 2nd one of these is a QLD coastal on Majestic, which has us in Brisbane on 29th October.

Ā

When we depart that evening, guess what ship is scheduled to arrive into Brisbane for the first time? Looks like we will score a 1st close-up when we cross paths in Moreton Bay.

Does look smart. It will be interesting to see what else was done.

Aussie power points to replace the Euro ones

Rebranding of most Costa areas to Carnival ones, but still essentially the same decor.

Aussie pokies in the casino

The usual below waterline inspections and service s carried out in drydock

Ā

Not too sure that much else happened.

Thank you for that. I did see we might need to wear dark glasses when inside. In fact in the sameĀ  review the guy said if you ever hurt yourself and needed stitches you would get 1 red,1 yellow 1 blue etc in keeping with the decor.šŸ˜‚Ā

Normally cruise with RCI. The Luminosa will be my first cruise with Carnival. I do like a good laugh and love seeing people enjoying themselves even if I cant join in, so I am keen to find out if the fun ship reputation is true. Saw one youtube review with passengers doing the conga around the deck having a great time and I thought that would make a change from towel rolling and acupuncture.Ā šŸ˜Ā  I still have cruises booked with RCI so have not abandoned them.
