CarolRoy Posted June 18, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2022 Thinking about going on the Oasis out of Bayonne this fall. How crowded would it be? How crowed would the buffet area be, pool area, venues, etc, We have bee on the Anthem twice before covid and found it to be crowded. We try to cruise when there would be less children. Any info would be helpful.
smokeybandit Posted June 18, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2022 (edited) Everyone has a different definition of what crowded means. I've never felt crowded on a cruise ship even when sailing over 100% capacity. And I'm someone who doesn't like crowds Edited June 18, 2022 by smokeybandit

Been on a number of cruises across multiple lines, but I feel travel savvy enough to taking timing into account. We avoid the buffet at peak times, arrive early for popular events, and have never felt overwhelmed. Leaving the ship as soon as the gangway opens, or arriving back on board right before the ship leaves a port are probably the longest I've waited on line. Just need to take it all with a grain of salt.
Another_Critic Posted June 18, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2022 I was on Oasis last October and didn't see any crows. 😄 But watch out for seagulls.

gcelkk Posted June 18, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2022 Oasis is a beautiful ship. Looks like by your signature you may be diamond. If so, the diamond lounge is a good place to "get away" from the crowd. If you want to "play it safe" book a suite. Oasis class ships are never too crowded for me. U-Tube an Oasis of the seas ship tour. Enjoy your cruise.
cynt Posted June 18, 2022 #7 Share Posted June 18, 2022 (edited) For the most part cruises are back to normal capacity. If you're afraid of crowds cruising on a mass market ship might not be the best option. Try a luxury liner. Edited June 18, 2022 by cynt
barbeyg Posted June 18, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2022 I agree with others…except for elevators. Those can get very crowded. Otherwise, never felt crowded.
grandgeezer Posted June 18, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2022 We were on the Allure (Oasis sister ship) for Halloween several years ago and the shipped was packed, including an enormous amount of kids. During peak hours it was like standing in line for Black Friday sales, elevators, shows and about everything else. The Windjammer was terrible, in fact they had it closed down on both ends. You waited in line until a table opened up then a waiter would then escort you to it. We left after 20 minutes and never went back unless it just opened or ready to close. The night of the costume parade, we went down to Promenade about 1 1/2 hours early to get a good spot to watch and it was practically full already. We finally found a spot, but with a limited view, sort of looking out a port hole. We don’t use the pools or jacuzzis or sit by the pool, but those areas were SRO. Other times we went, it was a little crowded but not too bad.
lakelorain Posted June 18, 2022 #10 Share Posted June 18, 2022 On rainy days it will feel very crowded because everyone will be inside. For the most part, people are well spaced out due to the shows and activities being scheduled to avoid crowding.
Casino Comp Chick Posted June 18, 2022 #11 Share Posted June 18, 2022 There may be less kids onboard once the Covid vaccine goes into effect for 5 and unders.
mets123 Posted June 18, 2022 #12 Share Posted June 18, 2022 We were on her twice in the past three weeks. Stay away from her WJ and main dining room between 8:45 and 9:45 AM. Still a little under staffed and they can't handle the crowds. Lines to get in were very long. JR's for breakfast would be an alternative option. Any info would be helpful. Just got off Friday. Crowded doesn't do the term 'crowded' justice. Elevators packed. Venues for things like trivia were packed. I actually saw people sitting on the floor for a few. Buffets crowded. Windjammer especially. Stick with Solarium Bistro. Smaller with not as big a selection but far more manageable. Pools unusable, in my opinion unless you go first thing in the morning. Shows OK if you're into them. There were far more children than I ever saw on a cruise. Having said all that, my guess would be as long as you sail in the fall while school is in session you should be OK. The Oasis is an amazing ship. Absolutely fantastic cruise if you sail for sea day relaxation. All have had great weather, shorts and t shirts as soon as the ship clears the Med.
CarolRoy Posted June 18, 2022 Author #16 Share Posted June 18, 2022 We are looking at an OV Balcony. Not interested in Boardwalk or Central Park. What deck is best for OV Balcony.

What deck is best for OV Balcony. We like deck 8 as it's nice to stroll thru Central Park or go to Park Cafe for a light breakfast or lunch as both on deck 8. The speciality restaurants (Chops, 150 CP and Giovanni's) are also on deck 8. Easy to get to the Boardwalk two decks down on deck 6. If we need to go from AFT to FWD (or vice versa), many times it faster walking thru Central Park than thru the corridors, especially when cabin attendants are doing the morning or evening room cleanings and many carts are in the hallways. Enjoy your planned cruise!

Why would they require it when it isn’t required for 5-11? And just look at the efficacy numbers and the sample sizes of those infected for these trials. If you think the vaccine rate was low for 5+ year olds, just wait for the numbers on this one.

You can actually have the max people in an elevator if they are all 5 years old. Try getting more than 7-8 average sized adult Americans in any elevator nowadays. The Oasis is an amazing ship. The staff created those lines outside of windjammer the last couple of weeks. There were lines even when there were plenty of seats in WJ because the management of the handwashing stations sucked. They let in sets of people and didn't let the next batch in until the previous batch was done. So they were limited by the speed of the slowest person in each batch and there were unused handwashing stations people could have been using.
