Kummelweck sandwich

Recommended Posts

On embarkation day I usually head to the Park Cafe vs fighting the crowd in the various Windjammer buffets. Usually get this sandwich and over the years has been a hit or miss experience, nothing truly memorable just a quick bite to hold me over until dinner.

Can’t understand the fascination with these. It’s beef in a roll 🤷‍♂️

Yep.  It was an average roast beef sandwich pre-pandemic, I'm sure it's an average roast beef sandwich now.

I agree. The sandwich is good but nothing special. Beef on a roll is a good description and many times I've found the beef to be tough and grisly. Having said that, I like mine with plenty of horseradish.

This has been my experience also. The sandwich s OK. Avoiding the Windjammer on embarkation day makes this sandwich great.

We only book cruises where the Kummelweck is served.

Itinerary, type of ship, brand of ship are not as important as 🍔

YMMV

And you can have two or three 😉 and if staying in a suite (GS +) get them delivered to your room.

Don’t forget to give a nice size tip too

@Bikersee what I did there 👍🏻

That's interesting.  Never heard of room service from Park Cafe.  I never even thought of doing this when I was Star Class !

I guess that the OP will have to judge the sandwich for themselves, which is pretty much the outcome of most of these types of threads.

I would like to try the version served in Buffalo though.

Even Venison would be a good choice, you might be onto something there

hopefully RCCL read these Kummelweck threads 😉

And agree “The Original” would be worth booking a flight and a hotel just to sample.

I think you can only get them on ships with Park Cafe or Two70 Cafe.

I had the Kummelweck on the Allure in the Park Cafe. We'll be cruising on the Jewel next. Is there somewhere to get it on the Jewel? Solarium Cafe?

I believe I had them from the Solarium cafe on both Serenade and Brilliance (both since restart). I know I should not, but I will assume it is the same on Jewel.

I feel like this sandwich is honey stung chicken all over again.

The only difference is honey stung chicken was only served the 1st day. Never understood why. I guess they wanted to make the WJ even more crowded on embarkation day? 😒

Not sure if it's the original but I've had them in Geneva & Watkins Glen NY so you don't even have to drive all the way to Buffalo.

They were really tasty, better than RCL's Kummelweck
