Bringing $1’s for all of our tipping(when we don’t cruise less than 14 days at a time) is $140-1’s, that is a large stack to take on a plane. bring $100 bill, get $1 at guest relations or the casino. That is interesting. I usually bring $10 in $1 bills and get the rest from guest services. never had a problem. And to stay on topic. $1 per drink. Rare brillohead Posted July 29, 2022 #80 Share Posted July 29, 2022 I've never had a problem getting $20 in ones from Guest Services, on any ship (and I've been on many different ones).

The Diamond vouchers can't be used for room service drinks. But you can go to the 'Jammer or MDR and get fresh squeezed OJ with your vouchers and bring it back to your room, if you want. Ozzie26 Posted July 30, 2022 #83 Share Posted July 30, 2022 I usually go to the casino cage to get ones when I run out. The line is usually shorter but only open when casino is open. I am D+ and also Prime so it’s 1$ for the simple drinks( wine, shots)and 2$ for anything more complicated. pcur Posted July 30, 2022 #85 Share Posted July 30, 2022 I tip $1 per drink, and if I win anything in the casino, I add to all my tips with half of my winnings.

OC PAT Posted August 9, 2022 #87 Share Posted August 9, 2022 Okay, great discussion on how much and what with but I need a clarification. Does the server/bartender get the 18% tip as noted on the receipt? If they are than why are you not figuring in the 18%? So, if I get a 13-dollar drink, I will want to tip at least 20%, thus it would be at least an additional 2%, 26 cents. Not trying to be cheap, just trying to figure how this works with the already designated 18%. We are good tippers (WE THOUGHT) but only tipped a dollar thinking they were getting the 18%.

I don’t tip 20% for a drink at a land based establishment. My gratuity $1-$2 on the ship for my D+ drinks mirrors what I would do at my local watering hole. There is no 18% on a receipt for a FREE Diamond Drink. 18% of zero is still zero.

For "free" drinks - drinks obtained with the D/D+/PC vouchers - there is no 18%. That is the reason that we are discussing how much to tip. Turning to your math: If your drink would have cost $13, and you were paying for it, the receipt would add $2.34. Some people let that guide how much they give the server in cash. BobNoxious Posted August 9, 2022 #95 Share Posted August 9, 2022 So, the Deluxe Beverage Package adds 18% gratuities on the drinks (which we pay for when buying the package). Do Diamond drink vouchers not include a tip? If not, a $13 drink has an 18% tip of $2.34. Tip 2 singles, not just one.

Yeah, I put my decimals in the wrong place when I figured the percentage. Virus fever brain fog or just stupid, thanks for the correction, again red faced. I think the ship compensates them in some way for every drink they serve using a diamond voucher. One dollar per drink, whether it's water, glass of wine, mixed, or just a beer, seems to be the going rate. I do see lots of folks who do not tip at all using their diamond voucher.
rock the boat Posted August 9, 2022 #98 Share Posted August 9, 2022 I've always used $2 bills. When I asked the bartenders if they minded them, I was told that they find them to be Good Luck. So on my last 4 cruises I asked all bartenders I met and said I would give them $1 bills if they had a problem with the $2 bills, no takers. Was in Bonaire last fall and I went into a local store. My total was $6 dollars and change so I paid with a 5 and 2 dollar bill. Had no problem and the owner proceeded to ask me if I had any more. I had 5 more and he was willing to give me more than face value. I gladly exchanged the 5 for a 10. Only place I ever had a problem was Aruba.
