Yacht Club Pre Cruise Requests

MSC does not use the same format as NCL Haven.

there is no pre-cruise concierge.

Never been an issue for us , most requests handled on board.

We sailed during the transition of the "mini"- mini bar set up to 1 bottle of liquor in YC.

We were on B2B and first week , old mini bar set up. Then we were given the letter and briefed on the new YC mini bar policy.  Chose a bottle and moved forward with this change.  (Butler did keep us supplied in Choco Nuts) 🤫

Maybe, maybe not.  NCL shoreside concierge was mostly a miss for us until last couple trips which had requests done.  With MSC, butlers have been very good at asking and fulfilling any requests once onboard.  Since MSC has a fridge with drinks, what is there to ask for other than paper and type of booze and maybe types of sodas and waters?

We asked for loungers to be put on our balcony.

Pillow choices.  It's now on the email, but we've had situations prior to the email where they had "run out" of pillow choices.  I also now use the email to make sure I have distilled water in my cabin.

With at least 6 YC cruises, we have never at any level felt the need for pre-cruise contact nor have we received any.....albeit none of those have been from a USA  port. On board, we have found any requirement is swiftly handled by the concierge or butlers!

They emailed you before you got on the ship?

Yes. It might get lost in the junk/spam folder or lost in the other emails from MSC....

Guess we are the opposite of prima donnas since we could care less if we get a pre-cruise e-mail.  When we cruise in the YC we generally will be visited by our cabin stewardesses and butler within a few minutes after boarding the ship.  At that time they will ask if we have any requests and we will simply tell them what we want (such as special pillows, booze, etc).  I do not see any real advantage to dealing with this stuff before boarding.  As to a bon voyage drink,  no way would we know (days in advance) what drink we would want, where we would want it, etc.

The advantage is MSC's.

When short on butlers, preselected pillows and alcohol saves time.

As far as the "favorite drink" mentioned in the e-mail, I took that as a reference to one's bottle selection. The implication being that your selected alcohol will be waiting for you and you can make yourself a drink right away.

On our last cruise, we had no interest in opening our included bottle. Instead, we collected staff signatures like a school yearbook in bottle form.

Ok, but NCL lists a wedge pillow which 99% of the folks will say does not exist except one person who will claim they got one.  We ask more as a joke to see if one will ever show up.

We got the email in advance of embarkation. We made a wine, paper, and pillow selection. None were in place when we boarded and our butler had no record of my preferences being made ahead of time. But she asked us when we arrived and got us hooked up pretty quickly.  Currently on board 😊

Are you enjoying your cruise?  Is the cruise fully booked?  How's the food? entertainment? weather?...

Omg we are having a blast!  Now let me temper this with the fact that we haven’t cruised since 2019… but I have to say MSC may just be our new go-to cruise line. Service in YC is impeccable. Almost over the top. Example:  last night our butler literally chased us down the corridor to catch up to us so that she could escort DH and me to dinner.

ship is full but never feels that way. We haven’t waited more than a minute for an elevator anywhere on the ship.

Entertainment is typical cruise ship fare although they did a mini opera of Madam Butterfly yesterday afternoon and it was simply amazing. Oh the voices!  It was about 40 minutes long, which was perfect. Last nights main theater show was just ok.

Food is certainly not bad, nor does it rank in my top for cruise food. For me the main problem is the temperature of the food, lukewarm to warm but never hot. Butchers Cut has been the exception. Still, my waistline seems to be expanding 😋😋

Yesterday we had some rain in Grand Cayman but it was at the end of the day so no plans were ruined.

I will post a full review when we return. I have lots more to say as a first time MSC cruiser and want to address some of the negative reviews I read as it relates to our experience.

Georgia_Peaches, So happy you are enjoying MSC.

One thing I want to ask (and it can wait till you post y our review), how's the A/C in  your suite.  I've read a few reviews that the cabins (even in the YC) were warm.  We live in Florida and really need our airconditioning!.

So the a/c thing is definitely going into the CON category. Most nights I’ve slept with no covers. It’s much warmer than my preference. I’ve reported a warm room to my butler. But no change. I told DH that I was convinced that someone nearby must have the balcony door open all the time!  I dared a glance into each of our neighboring balconies and sure enough, one of our neighbors had their door wide open…presumably to hear the water 😬. I’m not sure if the a/c units are all connected like they are on older ships. I thought since this is a new ship the a/c might be different. Nope!  I have felt comfortable in the public venues tho. For reference, back home we sleep in about 65 degrees. I’d say our room temperature is about 74 currently.
