Gingery_2120 Posted September 1, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2022 We have a nice onboard credit from our travel agent. Already have the standard drink packages, etc. What do you suggest is the best use for the credit? Can I use it while on the ship to upgrade packages? How would that work? Thanks for suggestions! 39august Posted September 1, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2022 (edited) You may use it for any purchase made on the ship. However, most TA OBC is refundable. We always cash ours out on the last day of the cruise. Edited September 1, 2022 by 39august

Northern Aurora Posted September 1, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 1, 2022 The only thing I am aware of which you can't use OBC for is a deposit on a future cruise.
Rare PinkSandGirl Posted September 2, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 2, 2022 Basically anything that gets charged to your SeaPass account. 😃 Upgrades for beverage or internet packages, excursions, pedicure, manicure, spa, salon, onboard activities (look at your Cruise Planner to get an idea of things offered), specialty restaurants, the shops, etc... 🍹
cinderellen Posted September 2, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2022 We had a bunch on our last cruise (not really sure why) but we used some for a cabana, dinner at Eden and Fine Cut and the rest in the casino.
Mines Posted September 2, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 2, 2022 Can you use the OBC to pre-book speciality dining or shore excursions, or do you have to wait until you get on board?

If the OBC is showing in your Cruise Planner before you board, Yes. If it’s OBC from your travel agent that may not show up until you are onboard, then no. 🍹

Not a good idea to advertise this as they have blocked it on a couple ships due to the chatter here.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted September 4, 2022 #19 Share Posted September 4, 2022 Should be noted that there are two types of OBC - Refundable - Most credits from TA's are refundable and if not used can either be cashed out at front desk on last day of cruise or will be credited to you credit card. Non-Refundable - usually as part of booking. These can be used for any purchase on the ship as well as giving extra gratuities to staff members by filling out a form at front desk. We often use them for Specialty Dinning and Tours When one charges anything it is applied to Non-Refundable first

39august Posted September 4, 2022 #21 Share Posted September 4, 2022 Automatic. We cash ours out and take home. Usually get $400-$600 from TA.

Yes. I prefer to cash out at front desk so I don't loose 3X millage from Chase Sapphire Rewards.
