Plat/Diam PRIORITY check-in AND BOARDING is back

Question:  If two adjoining rooms are linked bookings but only one person in the two rooms is platinum, can the other room (immediate family members including small children) board with you?

I am thinking the answer is probably no, but I thought I would ask because they allowed my adjoining balcony to board with my suite on my last cruise...but it was probably one of those things where because we were obviously a family boarding together (Mom, Dad, two young kids) the person checking our boarding passes let us on anyway.

Selfishly I hope they keep the $25 funplay instead of the tournament entries.

My husband hopes for that as well.  He doesn't like the slot tournaments, and so then is a benefit he doesn't really partake of.

What is the $25 funplay you speak of???  Was on a cruise last month and since there was no slot tournament, I didn't give it any more thought.  Is this free money to play with??

Yes.  Tournaments have been paused since restart so DIA/Plat have been given $25 in fun play.  Just visit the casino cashier and ask for it.

Yes, just go to the casino cashier and get $25 in slot credit or funplay chips, or on some ships cash. This is at least while they’re still not doing tournaments. It remains to be seen if they bring back the free tournament entries or not.

On every ship I have been on since the restart, I have just been handed the cash.

As have I but I have heard reports on here of some being offered chips or slot credits instead. So just wanted to cover all the bases.

All priority is no priority.

True. I did the first Atlantic crossing of the Vista some years ago; CCL had sent letters to all the Platinums....so we wound up on a ship with something like 65% Diamond/Platinum.  Yes, John Heald (who was onboard as well) told me that.

*Note to self, don't do that again...*

It seems the newer ships give credits and the older ships give cash.  I hope this is permanent.

We are cruising out of Port Canaveral Terminal 3 in just over a week and I wonder if they will use the 500 seat VIP lounge for D and P guests and not just suites now?

It's a pretty big lounge. They'd been using it for COVID screening/isolation/further questioning, etc. Like the penalty box in hockey. Thinking that's all over; there should be plenty of room (unless all Dia/Plat/Suites pick the same arrival time; which of course is possible) for all three groups.

The answer is it depends.  If the others in the linked room are minors, then yes, they can board with you.  If they are adults, then no.  All others in the same room as the Platinum guest can board together.

YMMV.  Some have reported having everyone board together, even if they are adults and some have reported ports that are sticklers about it.

It's because of that "hurry up and take ten cruises and be Platinum" rule they had before. Some of these same folks complain about faster to the fun lol. From 30 days to platinum to 75 now, plus bumps from platinum to diamond before and it's no wonder there are so many. It's diluted and should be based on days sailed only.

I'm doing much better getting the $50 cash (between the two of us) as opposed to getting the free BJ tournament entry.

I can't recall, back when they were having tournaments, had the perk been diluted to a BOGO offer? It's been too long 🙂

Unfortunately, rooms still won’t be ready when boarding.

Our room was ready when we boarded, but luggage wasn't delivered until 3. The waiting area for Diamond, Platinum and Suites was small and very crowded, no place for us to sit.

Does it say priority boarding or just a priority check-in line?  And also no mention of the plat/Diamond waiting area/lounge.  Did I miss read it?

On our Nov. 5 cruise there was a small area cordoned off, not enough room for everyone to sit. Priority check-in and boarding, which was nice to have back.

Does anyone else recall that it used to be a free entry (or am I just imagining that)? !!

Tom

You are correct, Tom, it was indeed free entry then got changed to BOGO.  This was several years ago, long before I turned Platinum, but I remember there was quite a kerfuffle on the boards when it happened.
