Reflection Observations

A few observations from our Reflection cruise earlier this month. We still love Celebrity but there were some disappointments. I'm sure all the cruise lines and ships have cut back since Covid.

 

The Sky Lounge is not nearly as impressive since they reduced its size. This was a fairly big disappointment.

 

We missed being served champagne upon boarding.

 

The tables in the MDR are now about 6 inches apart, at least in the area we were seated (deck 4, starboard).

 

The MDR seemed short staffed. Service was spotty.

 

The Oceanview Cafe had plenty of help.

 

The Spa Cafe has gotten quite popular. Would love to see it expanded.

 

The beds were very comfortable.

 

ALL employees were friendly and helpful.

With Covid the sparkling wine on boarding was replaced with a Captains toast. 
 

While I miss the idea of being handed a glass of sparkling wine as I boarded, it was also a bit cumbersome to hold carry ons and a glass in the crowded entry and elevator area.

Even before Covid they got rid of the sparkling wine when boarding

Agreed.  A table for 2 is kind of a joke when you almost touch elbows with the person sitting at the next table 🥴

Give me the Indian food at the OVC and let me sit outside at the back of the ship watching the ship’s wake while eating and I’m more than happy.

Post Covid , we sailed on the Silhouette in August 2021 around the UK, we were served sparkling wine . This summer on the Reflection out of Rome once again we were served sparkling wine. Just not immediately on boarding but at the World Class bar or whatever it’s called near to boarding area.

On reflection two weeks ago, staff was great.  Sometimes the drinks were a little slow but not too bad.  Table games same as usual.

FYI,  the bars had serving trays set out at the corner of the bar with free champagne on our December Reflection cruise.

The slot machines are all penny or $1 machines.   No quarter machines like they have on Solstice.

Yes they are, but in my experience the service was slow to get a drink while playing. But they are free.

Wait...what??? I'm a Celebrity newbie and this is the first I've heard of this. Do you mean I can get free drinks while playing the slots? 😲 🤞

If you have the drink package with AI the drinks are included at any bar.

Yes. With or without a drink package. Service can be hit or miss. A couple of times I walked around looking for a server and there were none on the floor. Or getting drinks at the bar

The downside to Reflection is that they have not modernised the Retreat facilities, so do not expect full Suite benefits if that is what you are looking for.

The only general Retreat facility missing is the Retreat sun deck.  Michaels Club is the exclusive private retreat lounge. Once Revolutionized, Michael's Club becomes the Retreat Lounge.
