Carol28 Posted February 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2023 Has anyone had any experience with a suite guarantee? We have never done this as we usually select our cabin. But, we may try it on the Apex. What has been your experiences?
Arizona Wildcat Posted February 3, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2023 You will be assigned a suite in the category you purchase. Cabins can be assigned as long as 4 months or as little as a couple weeks before sail date. Usually around the final.payment date. I have always called immediately after final payment date and either had a cabin assigned or often was able to request a change to an open cabin. Rare Ripheus Posted February 3, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2023 DW and I did a s3 guarantee for an upcoming Beyond cruise and were assigned an Aqua Sky Suite the day of check-in. It was a tremendous value.
mahasamatman Posted February 3, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2023 We purchased S2 guarantees for our upcoming South America cruises. Got one assignment about three months pre-cruise and one about six weeks pre-cruise.

I'm really surprised that a Suite Guarantee is purchased towards a specific suite category. I thought a guarantee is toward ANY suite that happens to open up. There were no choices for a specific category.
Cruise a holic Posted February 3, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2023 It's a crap shoot. You probably will get an S3 on the apex. If a great deal and you don't mind the magic carpet rails great. If an unpopular time of the year you might be lucky and get an s1 or s2. Enjoy the suite perks. So good.

When we did a suite guarantee on the Constellation for our late 2021 sailing it was a general suite guarantee, not a specific subcategory. We got our assignment a week or two before sailing if I recall correctly. We were assigned to an accessible Sky Suite and although we didn't need an accessible room, we were happy with the room we got.
Susanb10567 Posted February 3, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 3, 2023 With a suite guarantee…do you get the perks associated with suites ( premium drink package, tips, premium WIFi and OBC) or do you get to eat in Luminae and get drinks in the Retreat lounge/Michael’s Club and everything else you need to pay for. Perks (drink package, wifi, OBC, gratuities paid) depend on the booking. I have sometimes seen cruise only suite guarantees, although not lately. Amenities like Luminae, Retreat Lounge/Michael's Club/etc. come with the suite no matter how you get the suite. Rare Jim_Iain Posted February 3, 2023 #10 Share Posted February 3, 2023 I've done it a couple times because of late booking and they only thing available was a SS Guarantee. I always say - Expect worst cabin in the category and be happy if you get better. A number of times I've been assigned a Accessible SS. More often than not I've had a guarantee and bid on an upgrade and won the upgrade so wasn't an issue. In the past year all Suite Guarantees come with the 3 perks and it will indicate that when you book or do a mock booking. Only difference is you can't pick a room at booking.
lovecruzin Posted February 3, 2023 #11 Share Posted February 3, 2023 This week we booked a suite guarantee for Solstice departing on 2/11. No cabin assignment yet and no suites “available” to book.

We were very happy with that.
wineoclock Posted August 14, 2023 #16 Share Posted August 14, 2023 We’ve been assigned a MC suite on Beyond. Good price - yes I probably will regret it but at the price I paid I can’t really complain. We usually sail in upper suites or CS so a bit of a change. I’ve not bid on move up as I don’t want to end up with a worse location. I can only bid on Aqua suites or above. Not on SS.
peter42 Posted July 18 #17 Share Posted July 18 Is it normal that suite guarantees are only available for double occupancy but not for 2 adults plus a child, while all available suites allow this?

May have to do with overall numbers. More rooms can hold 3 than there is lifeboat space for.

Rare chemmo Posted July 19 #23 Share Posted July 19 (edited) 1 hour ago, peter42 said: And then I should not be able to book the suites with 3 people directly, should I? Because guarantees are often allocated late in the process (after move up process) I assume they are beginning to look at numbers. The maximum number of guests is based on lifeboat places not beds in a room. I remember once booking a RS (can definitely take 4 guests) asking if at a later date we could add our son if he could get time off work. The answer was ‘probably but not definitely’ because of the above. We chose to book him on and risk loosing his deposit if he couldn’t go. If they can only technically take 8 more guests then they want to sell four rooms if you have three in your room then they could only sell three x 2. The reason guarantees are cheaper are because they have restrictions. I suggest you phone and say you want to book a guarantee suite room for three guests and see if they can override the system. I don’t think you will be able to do it on line. Good Luck…Hope you can sort something. Edited July 19 by chemmo
