Coral Princess and Island Princess in Auckland today - 10 Feb 2023

Today is a special day in Auckland, it's not very often you get to have two Coral-class ships docked together in a port, let alone here in New Zealand.

 

Coral Princess and Island Princess docked in Auckland today:

I'm sure the captains and some of the crew will have a lovely day catching up with one another.

I wondered how many more times they will share a port as Island navigates through our waters. Off-hand, I know of Cairns on 23rd Feb, which will be nice to have them sharing the same wharf. Going by schedules, they will also pair-up in Tauranga tomorrow.

Weather permitting, Island Princess is meant to be calling there on Wednesday.

I hope to go and see her on Wednesday if the winds will let her in :).

 

We have only had one ship call in to New Plymouth, so far this session, which was Europa 2.

Auntie is currently sailing on the Coral Princess and she posted this shot of both ships in Tauranga today.

Apparently they escorted each other down the coast from Auckland.

The farewell from Tauranga was memorable. We were docked behind the Island Princess that's on its world cruise out of LA. We left first, and when we pulled out almost alongside the Island, the ship played the Love Boat theme on its horn. Passengers on both ships waved and hollered.

Both are headed for another meeting at Cairns on Thursday - Coral via Willis Island, Island via Airlie Beach.
