LoganTheCruiser Posted February 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2023 Hi guys, I just heard someone say that if you are a solo cruiser, you should get 2 Crown & Anchor points per night of the cruise. Or 3 per night if in a suite. Is that correct? And has this been the case for at least the last couple of years? Does the 3 points per night if solo also apply to a junior suite? Because I sailed solo in a junior suite about a year ago on a 7 night cruise and only got 14 points for it. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best way to get in contact with someone at Crown & Anchor to make the points adjustment when there's an error? I've tried the crownandanchor@rccl.com email address before, but have never ever heard back from anyone when emailing there. Thanks!
firefly333 Posted February 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2023 Yes the pts are 3 if you booked solo, in a JS or higher. I just google the C&A phone number and call them. You booked solo right? It wasnt a 2 person booking and the other didnt show.

Rare little britain Posted February 16, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2023 Yes it should be 3 points pn for a solo in a JS. However if you did RoyalUp to a JS you will get the points as per your original reservation

Studio cabins are awarded 1 point, if I'm not mistaken.

I just did a room solo on a free casino offer. Only paid taxes and got double points. Even was able to royal up to an outside. I think they charged me for two on that. At my MDR table, there were 3 of 5 diners on comped Casino cruises.

Not any longer. They stopped that, you now have to book as a solo to get that extra point per night. Of course if you book solo in a solo cabin, you only get 1 point per night total. That makes no sense, Royal gets the exact same revenue in either case. When did this start? Our family Thanksgiving cruise we had one no show at the port, and the remaining cabin occupant received 2 points.

Last year, so if they got the extra point, that was a lucky break. I wasn't able to get the extra point per night for a September sailing when my daughter was unable to sail at the last minute and had to be a 'no show'. The Fun Researcher Posted February 16, 2023 #18 Share Posted February 16, 2023 (edited) I paid a little extra for our upcoming March cruise to go solo (in a 2 person cabin) connected to my wife and son. My wife and I are both 68 points, so my double points (7 night cruise) will get me to 82. This will get my wife and 15 yr old son to Diamond after our cruise. Reason being we have an Alaskan cruise in July and want to be Diamond prior to that. After the Alaskan cruise my wife will have 82 points (so Diamond in her own right) and my son will be 60 points. Our daughters are both 18+ so they missed out on the Diamond grandfathering but will be at 53 points on their own after Alaska so well on their way on their own. tas246 Posted February 16, 2023 #20 Share Posted February 16, 2023 What's annoying about booking as a single is sometimes the GTY rates are not available. A cruise i'm looking at if booked as a single forces you to select a room causing the price for 1 to be $1700+, while if you book for two it's $1400. Has anyone found a workaround for this? I'd likely pull the trigger on buying for $1400 as a solo but not $1700+.

Be warned that if you do see a gty show up for a single there is a very high probability that you will get assigned a studio cabin and only get the one point per night. 2
tas246 Posted February 16, 2023 #25 Share Posted February 16, 2023 Anyone know if there is any difference between booking 2 passengers then having one "no show", and booking two passengers and later calling to remove 1 from the reservation? Would the latter result in a "single" booking for 2x points? 3 minutes ago, Ourusualbeach said: Be warned that if you do see a gty show up for a single there is a very high probability that you will get assigned a studio cabin and only get the one point per night. Makes sense - but on a ship with no studio cabins i'd feel fairly safe.
