Carnival Pride

I am thinking of booking the Carnival Pride for 8 of us next year. If you have been on this ship within the last year or so, would you give me your (I know this is YOUR opinion) pros/cons of this ship.

I love Pride and have been on 7X.  Perfect size for me and always a fun time.  If you're looking for all the bells and whistles of the big ships, you won't find it on Pride.

Was on the Pride for the third time in December. I really love the Pride. She does not have all the bells and whistles of Excel class, but what you gain is space. 42 square foot of public space per guest compared to 28 on the Excel class. Plenty of easy to find seating in all venues, elevators not packed full of people, being able to walk into a show at five minutes until and find a great seat. Many do not appreciate the greatness of the Pride.

We have been on the Pride 10 times and would always recommend her. It is currently in dry dock and other posts are covering that topic. The Pride is easy to navigate and to lean the layout.  But if you are looking for the bells and whistles of the newer ship, like the rope course, SkyRide you may want to look at a different ship. The Pride has many of the 2.0 upgrades and believe the Pride is the only Spirit class ship with the Dive-in movies, which we enjoy. Overall, I don't think there is a bad option, it is dependent on what you what during your vacation.

We sailed on the Pride for the first time this past March and had a wonderful time. We loved the decor, had really nice touches and had some neat features you don’t see on the bigger ships. She had just enough to keep you busy so as long as you don’t need all the modern bells and whistles found on the newer ships, you’ll be just fine. Would definitely return to the Pride in the future or one of the sister ships.

Pros: Great lay out. Small. Never feels crowded. Love the laundry rooms on most decks.  Love the deck 4 aft balconies and aft wrap balconies that are close to the water and have a full cover. They used to have nudey art and this would offend people.

Cons:  It is an older ship.  Some things show their age. She is having a dry dock so maybe some of this will be fixed...we shall see.  Carnival covered up the nudey art because people are easily offended.

You mean SOME AMERICANS

Yes. Exactly. Some "people" act like they haven't seen a bare breast since they were nursing at one. I am surprised we Americans even manage to procreate.

And that small minority of people happen to be the ones who complain the loudest.  I felt like the art on Pride was very well done, it seems that the cruising experience is being 'dumbed down'.

Not too long ago John Heald fielded a complaint from someone whose family was seated near the David statue at the steakhouse..... these people consumed their entire meal and after the fact demanded a refund because they didn't approve of the classical art.

I saw that post, but I am not so sure if it was real because the David statue has had a leaf over his private part for a long time. Although, maybe they were offended by his bare bum.  Who knows? People are crazy.  Some principal in Florida got fired because an Art teacher showed a pic of the David so clearly some people are easily offended.

I want to thank EACH OF YOU that posted here about the Price ship, as I will definitely keep these comments in mind, when we decide on what ship we hope to take next year.

I am convinced that nearly all the posts JH features on his page are fake. Either posted by fake accounts for content, or lies dreamed up by people for attention.

I don't think they're fake, I think some people just like to troll Carnival.  Know what I mean?  😁 🏴‍☠️

98% of them are definitely fake. The complaints have very similar writing patterns and you can tell are usually written by the same few people. On top of that I have met someone on his staff who admitted it after a few drinks lol. Works well for them though!

Exactly, they all read nearly the same and exist purely to drive interaction on his Facebook page. The real questions on his Facebook are just people begging for freebies or asking things that could be easily Googled in less time.

Indeed. Way back on one of our first cruises on the Pride, before the whiners started ruining the Pride, we were in line for our whatever set dining time. Heading into the MDR there was a larger mural, of a large breasted woman and little cherubs around. Two young boys, less than 10 yrs old I recall, walked up to the mural, reached up an "touched the woman's breast's" looked each other and one goes, I touched boobies!! Was hysterical at the time...folks in line chuckled, mom was probably mortified, but the MDR opened, everyone that saw went in chuckling a bit.

The complaints are probably submitted by real people but edited for clarity/content by the same group of "writers."  Some of the complaints I've heard from people while cruising has me convinced that you can't make this SH**T up!

Add me to the camp who believe the posts are fake. One just needs to look at the "complaints" from cc he posts that simply don't exist or are taken completely out of context.

It amazes me that anyone doesn't see the writing pattern similarities and constant typos in the complaints. Who else do we know that can't write a simple sentence without basic words misspelled?

I read his page and enjoy his humor (spelled correctly) but take it in with a grain of salt and understand it's for entertainment and not to be taken too seriously.

I think most of them are fake posts that are threads from CC.  If you have ever noticed, it follows a pattern of something discussed and taken the extreme to rile up his audience.

It depends on what you're looking for.  I didn't like the Pride but my taste may not be the same as yours.

I refrained from commenting on this thread but I have to agree with you the Pride isn't my favorite Carnival ship. I spent 31 days on it last May/June in Europe and also a week several years earlier. Currently the ship has many areas that need refurbishment, the most dire being the buffet area. I didn't care for the overall design since it creates a dark and foreboding atmosphere. The current drydock will fix some issues but unfortunately it won't be a Sunshine-type of major overhaul which it needs. There are areas that look fine;the MDR looks nice and I wish the rest of the ship looked more like the Alchemy Bar area which when installed got rid of alot doodads of the excessive and dated decor and the Bar and surrounding area still retains the browntones of the overall ship design without it feeling dated and tacky. The casino was upgraded last year with all new machines, tables, chairs and looks good. The Piazza Cafe area where they hold trivia needs an update badly;the lighting and seating looks like something from a stage set of Phantom of the Opera.

The Fitness Center is on track for an update and it sorely needs it. The equipment looks to be the original stuff when the ship was launched in 2002.
