Good morning.

Thank you to Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann and Dixie, and all who keep this thread going.

Well, miraculously everything got packed yesterday.  This morning I have all the paperwork to get together and wait for a FedEx package that is supposed to be here by noon.  We will also wait for the mail—the last day and then expect to leave for Jacksonville about 1-1:30.

Our flight to JFK tomorrow is at 12;09 and then we have a 5 hour layover in JFK for a 7:30 flight to Heathrow.

Prayers for all that need them.  @smitty34877 You and your family, especially your DH are first and foremost as you go through this very difficult time.

We will happily skip all the F&B today as I am not cooking for the next 41 days.  YIPPEE!

I will post as I am able and with photos.

Take care everyone.

God Bless,

Terri

Terri, wishing you safe travels today, and safe, uneventful flights tomorrow.

Good afternoon from a windy and cloudy central Texas.  It is 95F now.  It turns out, today would have been all right for mowing since it wasn't as muggy feeling out when I went for my walk.  But, by then the laundry was already going.  I hope tomorrow is another day like today, so the mowing won't be too bad.  I'll get out as early as I can, and hope the dew isn't too heavy.  At least, this week I remembered to charge the batteries for the mower, trimmer and blower, so I won't have to wait for them to charge tomorrow.  Thunderstorms are predicted for tomorrow afternoon, and we do need the rain.

It has been a busy morning, but at least I was able to find what I went to buy and to pick up DH's prescription.  The last load of laundry is in the washer, but because the dryer vent line in the slab is smaller than the normal 4 inches, the dryer takes longer to dry than necessary.  DH found a possible solution of a fan that we can put in the vent hose behind the dryer and hopefully keep the air and lint flowing better.  I'm just glad the dryer is not as heavy as the washer, so I should be able to move it out to work on the vent line.  After looking at the pictures, I ordered a remote switch to turn the fan off and on without having to unplug and plug it every laundry day.  I also don't run the risk of dropping the power cord behind the washer and dryer.

I also noticed when I finally got back to the Daily that I need to be more careful when I post in a hurry early in the morning otherwise it's an OOPS! like today.  I didn't notice I posted one meme twice, and the one I missed was below the post.

Good morning, all! Fresh vegetables and waterfalls are good things to celebrate. We’re back in the time of year where fresh veggies are plentiful, but I’m still not used to the prices now!

Yesterday was spent on the phone with Shaw. They deactivated my email account when I started sending emails from Africa. It was flagged as fraudulent activity. And now I have my account back, with 2500 emails that came in over those months. Oh well, lots to still sort out.

That is terrible news about the bus crash in Winnipeg. It sounds like Humboldt all over again.

Happy Friday, and cheers to our favorite BHB’s, wherever they may be!

Laura, what a mess with your email. I'm glad you got it straightened out.  I can't imagine not having email for so long, especially since we were not getting any emails yesterday afternoon and this morning.  We kept getting messages that our credentials were out of date, but we couldn't update them.  Then by late morning, everything was working again.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily.  We always have fresh veggies on hand and often enjoy veggies and dip with a drink in the pergola as an appetizer before dinner.  Waterfalls are quite beautiful, and nursing assistants can be a godsend.  I like today's quote, and think I'd appreciate the drink of the day without the pilsner topping.

Canada is reeling from the news yesterday of the horrific crash in Manitoba that took the lives of 15 senior citizens who were a group of 25 going out for a casino trip.   They were crossing the Trans Canada #1 highway when the accident occurred; I can't imagine the strength it took for the first responders when they arrived on scene.  My prayers go out to all who were involved, especially for those still in hospital.  It is eerily reminiscent of a similar crash in our province in April, 2018 when 16 members of a junior hockey team were killed when their bus was struck by a semi trailer truck.

It's a cool morning at only 8 degrees (46F), but we've got clear skies and an expected high of 25 (77) which will mean a very pleasant day.  We don't have any weeding to do, but I have to create an ant killing cocktail because I see we've got many mounds in the lawns on all 3 sides of the house.  I have to find the borax and get started on it right after breakfast.

Not a lot on the agenda today, just hanging around the house and yard.  I've been busy making coasters to use up my fabric stash from mask making during the pandemic and have made 8 sets so far.  I've likely got enough fabric to make at least that many and possibly even more.  I like to keep busy.

@StLouisCruiserssad to hear there's nothing more that can be done for your DF's DB; prayers for him to be made comfortable.

@ottahand7what beautiful photos of your iris plants!

@Quartzsite Cruiserthat's terrible news about the tornado in Perryton; I can't imagine going through something like that.

Thank you to everyone for your Happy Birthday wishes for our DS; we had a great face time visit with him and his family last night, with the boys wanting to tell us all about their trip to Japan, school, soccer, etc.

Today's menu suggestion sounds like it should be served on a banana leaf on a tropical island somewhere; while I'd like to try it, I'm pretty sure DH wouldn't be too impressed.  I like that the wine is reasonably priced - and a red!  It's Friday night pizza night, so we'll be checking the menus to see what appeals to us and will be able to enjoy our pizza on the deck tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Gerry, yes it is terrible about the tornado.  After I posted about it, the next update was 70 to 100 injured, but nobody was missing.  One of the fatalities was in a mobile home park, and most of the homes were destroyed.  The problem with tornadoes is they can pop up quickly, so there often is not much if any warning, and the big ones are so destructive.  While it will take time, the hardy panhandle farmers and ranchers will rebuild and come back strong.

Thanks Maureen. My DS changed his Cape house reservation to a house with a pool in a Hudson River town. This way he can help with his Dad and keep DGC entertained. I will be very spoiled!

Terry, that was so thoughtful of your DS to change the reservation so he can help you care for your DH.  You have a wonderful, thoughtful and supportive family.

I've been fortunate to have been able to visit some of the world's greatest waterfalls, but I started out a bit simpler.  While growing up I often visited Chittenango Falls in Central, the highlight of a state park there:

I know I visited Niagara Falls as a youth but my photos are 2011.  I was applying for a NEXUS card which required an in person visit with officials at a border station.  The easiest for me was Niagara Falls, where I stopped on a side trip to my 50-year high school reunion:

I visited Victoria Falls on an extension of a 2005 Rovos Rail Journey:

Finally, I got to Iguazu on a short trip in 2017 between cruises on Crystal Serenity and Zaandam out of Buenos Aires:

People who know me well, know I love waterfalls.  The DDs can tell you that in 1992 on our first trip to Alaska, I pointed out every waterfall I saw, l and I probably drove them crazy.

I found a few we have seen when traveling on BHBs and around the US and Alaska by motorhome.  The first three were taken in 2017 on the Prinsendam in Iceland.

Dittifoss, which a picture cannot really do it justice as Ann @cat shepard can tell you.  It is quite a ways from Akureyri, and we only found it because we rented a car that day.

The next two are just off the main road heading east from Reykjavik.

This one was taken in Yellowstone NP.  It is the Yellowstone River in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

I could not find a name for this one, but we saw it on the glacier tour out of Whittier.  It is in Blackstone Bay.

We had several hours of stormy weather with lots of thunder last night.  Today our internet has been spotty, but hopefully that’s settled down.  In the last few years, we’ve visited numerous waterfalls while on HAL cruises.

Greetings from Jacksonville.

Thank you all for all the well wishes for safe travels

Ride down here was without incident.

Had dinner at the Outback and will go down to the lobby to print out boarding passes in a few minutes.

Here is my contribution to the waterfalls.  Our trip to Iguazu Falls when we took our South American cruise that began in Buenos Aires.  We spent two days in Iguazu prior to the cruise.

Lots of waterfalls, but it looks like no-one has been to Trondheim...

It was the "big city" on our Voyage of the Midnight Sun on Ryndam a few years ago.  There was a great HoHo bus at the port so we went on that.  It took us to the Cathedral, where they charged an arm and a leg for an entry ticket.  I'm happy to make a nice donation but I resent having to buy into a place of prayer, so we didn't go in, just into the gift shop where you buy the tickets.  There's always a gift shop...  We went to the museum, and an art gallery, too, also a lookout on a hill and through some residential areas.  If you live on the canal, you have your own boat parking space!

Thanks for the photos.  Trondheim is one of our stops.  We booked a ship tour but after seeing your photos and reading Jeff Farschman’s blog today, we are cancelling the ship tour and doing it on our own.  It looks easy enough.

We've been to Trondheim twice, and it is an easy walkable town.  There will probably be a shuttle into town.  The last time we were there, we found a local tour at the Visitor Center  that was not too expensive and was very interesting.  It took us to a park like area where they had moved several old buildings.  One of the buildings was a Stave church, and out guide sang one of the old songs for us while we were in the church.

Good morning.

It is a very pleasant 65°F at 10am here.

For the first time in days we have some high white clouds but by this afternoon it is forecast for 75°.

Thunderstorms are forecast for Sunday so we will make the most of today.

I hope everyone is well today.
