There have been three big sales since we booked our Feb 2024 cruise - including the best sale ever!!!  The result is that cruise now costs $3,000 more.  Sales used to mean something different to me 🙂

My thoughts on island Princess, smaller and older than other Princess ships. I like the smaller with fewer passengers! We were on the Island last year and we will be on her again in August 2023. Excellent itinerary for both cruises. Iceland and Greenland last year. British Isles circle with Scotland and Wales this year.

Cheers!

I agree - we prefer smaller as well.  We haven't been on the Island but did a full transit PC on the Coral several years ago and really enjoyed her.  We did the British Isles on the Emerald last fall and it was great.  Rainy and cold every day and it was still spectacular and the last day in Wales was worth the whole trip.  Enjoy!

We sailed on Island once. The cruise just before that was on Coral. No comparison. On Island we kept "running out of ship" when we headed aft because they removed the Universe Lounge and everything that was aft and added a buttload of cabins. The gym (which we don't use) was moved downstairs to an area with no windows. There is no IC. Granted, the IC was an add on to Coral so it is a bit small but at least it's there. We have a favorite cabin on Coral that we've booked for canal transits twice but, due to the makeover on Island, it's no longer there. We couldn't walk all the way around the Promenade outside because, again, they had taken all the aft space and made it cabins. They removed a ton of public space and added a bunch more cabins. One and done for us unless my wife can convince me that Island is the only Princess ship that will get her to Iceland like she wants.

Other's love Island - especially if they have never cruised on Island before the bastardization of the ship and have never sailed on Coral which (other than the addition of IC to Coral) used to be the same. Those who don't know the difference likely will love Island.

I just booked a really good deal for a California coastal next year on a resident of California special.

I saw the same cabin I have on next year's solar eclipse cruise was available on the 3 day cruise before it under the California resident special. $200 OBC as part of the promotion.

Have heard these issues before and do have a concern as our first cruise on her is later this month. Booked it for the itinerary and will still enjoy the cruise even if the Island does not impress us.

Hello, Any new Princess  2024 mediterranean sales coming up? Thoughts on Island Princess? Sun  Princess looks way tooo busy for us. Thanks

I was on the Island last fall and never want to sail on her again.  The layout is very odd.  I kept getting turned around and lost.  I've been on several Princess ships and the ship is small so I shouldn't get lost so frequently!  They took out the aft lounge and put in cabins which was a mistake, IMO.  There is no International Cafe.  The casino is very small.  The positives: It does have a very nice sized library (I hate that the new ships no longer have a library!) and Crooners has a nice set up.

🙃... really torn about the Island..we love the IC and not hearing too many great reviews about her.... but  she so has so many great  itineraries for Med 2024.    20 days is a long time for us.  DH will not go on a ship that has water parks on it. 🙃 otherwise I'd consider the Sun.

When we resumed cruising after a time off, we booked the Panama Canal on the Island.  Loved the cruise and everything about it.  THEN, we went on more and more cruises on different Princess ships and realized what we missed by going on the Island.  I looked into part of the World Cruise but it's on the Island and I'll never sail on that ship again!
