Perfect Celebrity Sea Day

So I posted this here yesterday and they moved it because I guess they thought it was just a general question. To be clear, I am talking about your perfect sea day onboard Celebrity Cruises.

Since I posted a complaint about all the complaints I thought I should tare my own advice and start something more positive and productive. What is your perfect sea day? As the starter of the post this IS NOT to complain about what is not a perfect sea day but rather,  what is your perfect sea day, real or imagined.

My perfect sea day starts with a leisurely wake up with coffee arriving shortly after to sip while I get ready for the day. Then head up to breakfast in the OVC to leisurely eat and enjoy. Maybe grab a mimosa as well to start the day in a good mood. From there, depending on the climate it is finding some place to enjoy the sun. Close enough that I can get in the pool if I want to cool off or even to sitting with my feet in the water while reading and listening to music. From there it will be a leisurely lunch and maybe a nap or spending some time on the veranda enjoying the sea air with a coffee or cocktail. Maybe catch a movie or head out to the pool again. Then it is time to clean up the sweat and sunscreen and get ready for the evening. Grab a drink or two before dinner and then enjoy my dinner. End the night with a nightcap and maybe check out whatever entertainment might be happening before retiring for the evening. That sounds just about perfect to me.

Mine starts very similarly to yours. Wake up at a leisurely time, have coffee delivered to the room to drink while I get ready. Then head to OVC for breakfast with a mimosa or two. (This is all probably so late that I barely even make it to OVC before it stops serving breakfast.) Not much of a pool person myself but I love the Solarium, so I'd probably head there to relax and either read or scroll on the phone and keep in touch with friends back home. From there, probably lunch and a drink or two, then a nice nap back in the cabin. After that I'd get ready for the evening's theater show. Hit dinner, the show, and the martini bar, not necessarily in that order. If I have an early wakeup for a port call the next day I'd call it a night early, probably back in the room around 9. If it's another sea day the next day I'll try to stay up for the later entertainment options.

Wake up.  Gaze out at the ocean while getting dressed.  OVC for breakfast because I like a little bit of lots of things.  Have a cappuccino aft outside looking at the wake.  Go back to my cabin and sit on the balcony and journal or read while staring at the ocean.  (If it were a port day I’d try for a clamshell in the Solarium.)  Meet my husband at the Sunset Bar for pre-lunch drinks.  Have lunch at OVC (for reasons see above.)  Go back to cabin.  Sit on balcony or read in bed or…😉  Nap, shower, go find a view or music to accompany our pre-dinner drinks.  Dinner.  Maybe dessert later at Cafe al Bacio.  More walking on deck admiring the ocean.

The recurring themes appear to be 1) enjoy the beautiful ocean 2) drink more cocktails than we do at home and 3) enjoy trying lots of bites of different dishes.

My perfect sea day is get up have breakfast in the back of OVC hopefully at a table near the rail. Then find seat in the shade put my headphones on listen to a book on tape while knitting. Maybe have an exercise class tai chi is relaxing. Then hopefully a movie. Get ready for dinner. A few drinks in the sunset bar. See the sunset then a show and dinner. Nighttime entertainment and then listen to the ocean on the balcony then bed.

A later get up…Or if I wake early a leisurely coffee on the balcony. No preordering coffee on a sea day so often a quick visit to the cafe for a take away…

Head for Tuscan that doesn’t stop it’s Captains Club breakfast until 10am. Sit watching the wake views sipping a Bellini enjoying the delights of a salmon plate or if I am hungry enough an ultimate platter…

After breakfast a return to the room for a rest, check on emails update live review and answer any questions. Browse the Today and decide if I am going to attend any of the activities/talks. Every cruise I say I will do more of these but frequently the desire to simply enjoy the deck wins the day!

Head for a swim in the Solarium. By now most sun beds will be taken. Not bothered, I will simply place my sandals and throw over dress on a ledge or a chair in the Aqua Spa cafe if it isn’t open…Enjoy my leisurely swim then head towards the sunset bar dripping along the way…If I am still very wet on arrival I will continue to drip on a toadstool whilst I sip a pina colada…

Lunchtime will depend on the ship, if there is a Porch then that is probably where we will head, if not then Sushi on five…Whichever we choose we will dine lightly…

Afternoon, a very leisurely stroll around the ship making sure I keep out of the way of the serious joggers and don’t fall over the sun beds many of which have moved from their regimented positions to an interesting obstacle course. Stop and chat along the way to fellow guests and meandering staff simply savouring the sounds, sights and smells of a cruise ship at sea.

When ready a return to the room with a drink to enjoy on the balcony where I will make a pretence of reading a book and gently rock to sleep for a restful afternoon nap.

Murano tends to be our evening dining venue on sea days…we are rested enough to enjoy a longer meal. Freshen up, decide where to enjoy a pre dinner drink…If it isn’t too windy perhaps the sunset bar, if I care about my hair perhaps the Retreat lounge or ensemble lounge…Check the music on and where it is happening…

A really leisurely meal…Savouring the food service and atmosphere. We love that Murano manages to be classy without being pretentious, formal without being stuffy…

Probably a drink somewhere after, maybe listening to music near the atrium or in the ensemble lounge or retreat lounge or perhaps just head back to our room and enjoy a last drink on the balcony…The beauty of a sea day is you can make it up as you go along…

OP thank you for such a lovely thread to remind us of the joy of cruising!

We enjoy sea days- very relaxing.  Get up , enjoy coffee then slip on swim suit.  Go for  breakfast.  Then typically settle down at a comfortable, shady location by the pool.  We enjoy a quiet hot tub and pool, especially early when many people are sleeping.  Depending upon the ship, lunch at a nice venue- in the afternoon, back to the pool  The evening perhaps spa services, including hair blow out- during the early evening the martini bar.  Then dinner and show-  we also enjoy trivia and just strolling around the ship and looking in the stores.  We vary our day depending on the activities offered.  But mostly enjoy just relaxing.

Mine is

Wake up and make myself tea and have on my balcony while dh is still asleep (I’m an early bird)

Read till around 9 then wake dh up and head out to wherever elite breakfast is held.

Attend whatever enrichment talks interest me, or sunbathe and read. Dh will be on deck.

Lunch possibly Luminae or OVC

Cafe al bacio for tea in the afternoon (dh prefers to the retreat lounge)

Get ready for dinner and then pre dinner/show drinks, show, then dinner, then decaf coffee for me and casino for dh or a show if one interests us.

Mine would go something like this.

“Max’ing” out my premium alcohol package with Champagne at breakfast.

Liquor coffee at 11am

Pre lunch Peroni’s

White wine over lunch in the OVC

Long island iced teas to cool me down at the pool bar

Back on the Peroni’s in the Sunset bar at 5 pm

Pre dinner Lychee martini in the Martini bar.

Red wine with dinner followed by a Sambucca after dessert.

Then off to the Passport bar for Belvedere vodka with lemonade to keep me hydrated between dancing at the silent disco!

It’s scary how much you drink on a cruise! It seems to be just a constant flow…

Get up late and have a leisurely breakfast in the OBC.  Then solarium or pool depending on the weather and whether my son wants to go to the kids club, relaxing in the room on the balcony, leisurely lunch (where depends on our mood) and some time in the thermal suite or maybe a nap or a massage.  Some more pool time with frozen drinks, then a leisurely dinner.  After dinner we would go to the solarium or thermal suite or a show.  Then an early night.
