Midpacpl Posted December 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2023 We are cruising on Summit out of Miami returning April 1, 2024 then staying at a hotel in Fort Lauderdale until April 4 when we cruise again. Can anyone recommend transportation options for me to explore to get us from Miami Cruise port to our hotel in Fort Lauderdale. No Uber or light rail etc. we are in our mid 70s and not particularly agile. Thanks
Rare CruiseRQA Posted December 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2023 Why no Uber? It is very easy and probably the most economical. Practice using Uber at home. Download the app and order and Uber to take you somewhere close by like a grocery store. Do a little shopping and then order an Uber to take you back home. It is very easy!! I am almost 70ish and find Uber easy to use.
jelayne Posted December 16, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2023 You will find Uber is less expensive than a taxi or limo, cars are cleaner than most taxis, no cash or credit card given to the driver. It is all charged to your credit card by Uber not the driver. You don’t need to be agile the driver will help with your luggage.

wrk2cruise Posted December 16, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 16, 2023 Another reasonable option would be to take a shared shuttle like SAS or MJS from POM to FLL airport then take a taxi from FLL to your hotel. Probably < $60 for 2. But I agree Uber/Lyft would be the easiest/cheapest option.
mrgabriel Posted December 16, 2023 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2023 Does the hotel you’re going to in FLL have a shuttle? It wouldn’t be free from the Port of Miami but if you’re hesitant to take Uber or Lyft it’s another option. They may also have a recommendation for a car service. The benefit of a car service is you will know exactly the fare before you accept the ride. Uber and Lyft do add travel surcharges if you’re stuck in traffic, but not as high as a taxi. dcbiker97 Posted December 16, 2023 #10 Share Posted December 16, 2023 To directly answer your question, we have used Larry’s limo for years when we need transportation in South Florida like what you’re requesting. https://larryslimo.com/
Rare alexandria Posted December 16, 2023 #11 Share Posted December 16, 2023 I like the Brightline train to get to and from the Miami cruise terminals to and from Fort Lauderdale, West Palm and points in between. You can even take it to and from Orlando. A premium ticket ($32.00 pp for the day you return) will include complimentary Uber pickup at the cruise terminal and drop off at the Miami Brightline station, one checked bag per person, access to the Brightline lounge (with complimentary snacks and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages) and very comfortable seating in the Premium car which will again offer complimentary snacks and beverages. When you arrive at Ft. Lauderdale, the ticket will also include complimentary Uber pickup at the Brightline station and transportation to any Ft. Lauderdale destination within five miles of the Brightline station. An option to consider.

If Lyft is available, that's my preference for ride share. Other options: see if the ship has a shuttle to FLL airport then grab a taxi from there to your hotel. Or book a car. I've used Carey Limo many times and have always been happy with the service - but it's pricey! https://www1.carey.com/CareyWeb_v2/forms/chooseQuote.html
asctony Posted December 16, 2023 #13 Share Posted December 16, 2023 Love these forums. Everyone has an opinion and ever opinion counts. So, What opinion do you use? X Transfer to FLL, Uber, Train, SAS, Limo, Lyft???????? Like they say, your choice and there is no one answer. Good Luck. Each one could be good or bad. Happy Transfer. Midwest Sunseeker Posted December 16, 2023 #14 Share Posted December 16, 2023 You could take a post cruise tour from the cruise line with drop off at FLL. When you are dropped at the airport you could use your hotel shuttle or a taxi to your hotel.
Boston lab girl Posted December 16, 2023 #15 Share Posted December 16, 2023 Last year we were on summit and we were staying at a Fort Lauderdale hotel. Our hotel had a free shuttle from FLL. But we also had a 3:00 check in. Since we didn’t want to be standing in the hotel lobby for hours, we booked the Everglades excursion and got dropped off at FLL. We then got our shuttle. There are tons of taxi at the airport and you get dropped off close to them. The Everglades excursion was fun and didn’t require a lot of walking and by the time we got to the hotel our room was ready. The excursion usually drops off at both airports. Rare Essiesmom Posted December 16, 2023 #16 Share Posted December 16, 2023 There is a board here for questions like this. It is Florida Departures, under North American Homeports.
ZoeyVictoria Posted December 17, 2023 #17 Share Posted December 17, 2023 SAS Transportation goes to a number of hotels in Fort Lauderdale. Very comfortable vans, good drivers, great communication for $15 pp. They have a list of hotels on their website, hopefully yours will be included. We used them from a Marriott in Fort Lauderdale to the Port of Miami in October. .
