Daffytoons Posted January 24 #1 Share Posted January 24 I am wondering what the best way is to carry around your cruise keycard. Can you carry it in a pouch that attaches to your phone or will it cancel out the card? Lanyard around your neck? Wrist coil? Thanks!

ChiefMateJRK Posted January 24 #3 Share Posted January 24 I prefer a lanyard around my neck with Ship Card and passport card enclosed. That gets me anywhere I want to go. 3

Some prefer one way, others a different one. The only issue I've had was this: I had my card in my pocket when I bought a ships magnent. Had to get a new card after I put the magnet in my pocket. Rare www3traveler Posted January 24 #5 Share Posted January 24 I use a small credit card, put my room key in it and it goes in my pocket.

poohdreaming Posted January 24 #7 Share Posted January 24 Lanyard or in your phone wallet or whatever work. If you do not mind wearing it around your neck during the whole cruise, you would use the lanyard. If you take pictures, this lanyard will be in it unless you take it off for pictures. Some people don't mind taking pictures with their lanyard. Some people just find it more easily to take out their key card to use for drink, etc. If you do not have a drink package or dining package, and do not do shopping, then it can just go in your phone wallet/pocket. Rare BirdTravels Posted January 24 #8 Share Posted January 24 (edited) I keep it in a pocket or wallet in my bag. I am not interested in displaying any personal information. Edited January 24 by BirdTravels
Russiamomm Posted January 25 #9 Share Posted January 25 Complete personal preference. I carry mine in my back pocket - assuming I’m wearing pants/shorts with a back pocket. 😂. Makes it really easy to whip out at any bar. 😂
Jordan61 Posted January 25 #10 Share Posted January 25 I bought lanyards for our last cruise and we wore them for part of one day and then went with putting them in our pockets.
phillygwm Posted January 25 #11 Share Posted January 25 I keep it in my back pocket. Only misplaced it once in 10+ cruises.

Rare cruiseny4life Posted January 25 #13 Share Posted January 25 Pocket! I don't carry purses, wallets, backpags (sometimes) around the ship and I'm not wanting no swinging thing around my neck ever! Pocket wins. Better yet, my husband's pocket so I'm not carrying anything at all.
Rare laudergayle Posted January 25 #14 Share Posted January 25 (edited) Onboard I wear a small crossbody bag just big enough to carry some tip $$, my phone for pics and my key card (and a pen, too). DH will carry a credit card wallet. On excursions, everything changes based on the activity. Just do what is safest for you. Lol…I like to be able to pull out my card whenever “I” want to. If I want that macaron even though we just finished dinner and dessert, by golly, my card is coming out! No guilt😁
libtrek Posted January 25 #16 Share Posted January 25 I prefer lanyard. I just put inside my shirt if I don’t want it swinging. On one of my brief forays into crafting, I made a beaded lanyard with a purchased card holder and hook. Should have used bigger beads. My eyes came to hate those teeny tiny holes. reeinaz Posted January 25 #17 Share Posted January 25 I carry mine in a pouch on the back of my phone. It's part of my phone case. I've never had any issues with it being demagnetized.

Davechipp74 Posted January 25 #19 Share Posted January 25 Don't forget to leave it in a slot machine. I do, all the time and to be honest it's the only time I ever have gone to guest services, granted it's 3 or 4 times a cruise, but never the less the only reason ever.
UKstages Posted January 25 #20 Share Posted January 25 i carry a stainless steel money clip in my pocket... one side has a channel for credit cards, which i use for my key card and for casino card(s) and maybe an ID if headed off the ship. the other side carries singles and fives for tipping. I’m pretty good at leaving it in the slot machine myself. However, the last few cruises it was a tap method vs insert. Def helps with leaving it behind. TenForward Posted January 25 #22 Share Posted January 25 My cell phone case has a wrist strap and 'wallet' on the back... enough room for a credit and key card, ID & a few bucks cash. Perfect for me.

NCL keys have antenna circuitry around the card for power and code transmission. Punching cards make them inoperative.
