My my there have been a lot of "LIVES" from the Edge this summer in Alaska. Do we have room for one more?

We will be on board the 8/16 sailing from Seattle. Who are we? Well, this time it's me and my DW along with our son and his wife. It will be our 10th sailing on an E-class ship but it is the first for our son and DDIL. No Retreat this time -- too pricy in Alaska when two cabins are involved. So, we have two sunset verandas and hopefully we can open the balcony partition. According to the deck plans, there is a divider, hopefully it can be opened.

Travel plans to Seattle? Certainly not flying in the "day of" from the east coast so we will be departing CT tomorrow, with a connection in Chicago. I had a lot of Southwest points so I used most of them for three of us (plus an extra seat) and paid for one. Pretty good flight times with a noonish departure and a 5pm local time arrival in Seattle. We will be staying at a hotel near the airport given the arrival time and probably UBER to the port Friday morning. We have a 10:30 arrival time and from reading the other reports, it sounds like a zoo on departure day at Pier 91.

Still some packing to do and one more look at "the list" to make sure I don't forget something that I think I need.

Yes! Keep them coming. The desire to live vicariously through others travel experience is voracious as ever. 🥳

There is always room for one more.  You will have a lovely time with great views from your SV.  Happy fly day tomorrow!  It’s beautiful mid 70’s out here in the Pacific NW.

Looking forward to this…our fight was BDL to SEA via Chicago as well.  Can’t wait to read your live!

There is an initial rush at 10 AM when the doors of the terminal open, then between 10:30 and nearly 11 AM there are fewer people.  Busiest times are between 11:30 - 1:30.  Make sure that everyone has completed their online check-in.

I had a Sunset Veranda on our Edge May '24 cruise to Alaska.  Really liked it.

Yes, arrival times are not looked at.  You will most likely be on the ship by 11:30 pm if you arrive 10:30 ish.

Well the car is packed, not much really….one medium size, one carryon, cosmetic bag, backpack.

Will pick up son and DIL on the way!

I always like to check where my plane is the day of travel. The “FlightAware” app is my go to. Looks like it just landed in Chicago from Nashville.

It will then go from Chicago to CT, then back to Chicago.

I also looked up the Chicago to Seattle leg. It has a longer day ahead of it! Here is is now..

Then Phoenix to Chicago and then on to Seattle. Of course these things do change but I have discovered flight delays through FlightAware before being notified by the airline.

More later….

We are also on the 8/23 sailing, our family of seven has 3 retreat cabins. Our check-in is 12, but I don’t think it matters if you’re in Retreat, correct? We sailed the Edge a couple years ago in the Med. and loved it! I think our pre-teens/teens will be some of the only younger cruisers this week, as most schools have started!

Yes, retreat just goes the the retreat holding area and then is escorted on board prior to the other passengers.

Absolutely love all the “live” reviews so def room for another, especially since you’re traveling in a SV which is the only way I can do an E class ship…can’t afford retreat and need a proper balcony. Looking forward to hearing the opinions from your kids…are they new to cruising or just E class? Alaska is beautiful and I hope you have great weather and spot heaps of sealife! Cheers!
